About Banh Phonekeo's/Harborside Cuisine

Banh Phonekeo's/Harborside Cuisine serves traditional Lao dishes with a unique and authentic flavor. Favorites include the homemade noodle soup, Laos sausage, beef laab, nam kow, mok pa, and fried chicken, which are considered some of the best dishes on the menu. The papaya salad, although not for everyone, can be adjusted to individual taste. This cozy spot offers a welcoming ambiance, friendly staff, and generous portions. While some find the prices a bit high, others appreciate the reasonable cost for the effort that goes into Lao cuisine. The mix salad and sticky rice are also popular choices. The chill but simple ambience could use more Lao decorations or plants to better represent the culture. Despite changes, the food remains close to homemade, making it a go-to destination for authentic Lao flavors.

During my visit, I sampled three distinct food items and a generous serving of Thai iced tea.

My new favorite spot for Lao food! The food is always great, and the staff are very friendly and welcoming.
We discovered this spot a while back and recently visited San Diego again and had another chance to stop by. By far this sweet little spot makes Lao Cuisine closest to homemade. We also had a side of sticky rice. The set up was changed and may have different ownership? But we felt like it still hit the...read full review
