“I plan on donating a kidney to my mom. So I went to this hospital to get several tests. I took a CT Scan, chest x-ray, and viles of blood taken were taken. The doctors were all friendly and answered all of my questions. The wait wasn't very long either.“

“One of the best Chinese food within the Bayview area, it closed to Evans Street Post Office and there is a small coffee shop nearby. I liked their pan fried dumplings, tomatoes beef over rice and Chinese sausage with bitter melon scrambled eggs over rice, yummy“

Shorenstein Family Cafe @ UCSF Medical Center Cafe • $
1855 4th St, San Francisco

“I've never had high hopes for hospital food, but this establishment surprised me -- in a good way. The layout consists of multiple stations offering a variety of cuisines on a rotating menu, much akin to the dining center I had in undergrad. The highlight of this cafe is the amount of variety it features. Each day, they offer many options that I had never heard of before, and this has really helped me to branch out and discover new foods. If variety isn't for you, there are plenty of regular options including pizza, freshly made burgers, soup, salad, etc. Some of the food tends to be bland, but I think this is well aligned with eating healthier. The hashbrowns are a game changer at just $1.60 for two and is one of the main reasons that I come back.Prices here have fortunately been consistent since I started working at UCSF, with most of my meals ranging between $6-9$. A vast majority of the staff are friendly. The value is certainly unbeatable compared to other prices you see around Mission Bay. My only critique is the occassional mispricing of items or lack of pricing information being displayed.“

Chuck Williams Cafe Cafe •
1101 Van Ness Ave, San Francisco

“Cafeteria style cafe with a very spacious contemporary ambience. There are different types of food offered. Burgers and Asian food (with different theme from time to time: pho, Chinese stirred fried, etc.) are customized and made to order. Self-service salad, soups, and ready-to-go sandwiches are available as well. Price generally under $10. Very nice place to enjoy the street view through the floor-to-ceiling windows on the 2nd floor. You will see lots of hospital personnel in their uniforms eating here.“

Cafe 450 Cafe • $$
450 Golden Gate Ave, San Francisco

“We had lunch here on a Friday while waiting for my passport, and it was a pretty decent cafeteria! It appears quite typical like a ski resort cafeteria but they used good meat for the tuna melt which also included lettuce, tomato, onions, and pickles for around $8 or so. Then we also had sweet potato fries and onion rings for around $3.60 each. The salad was also around 40 cents per ounce I believe. We picked up our hot plates after 5-10 minutes, paid at the cashier, and sat next to the large windows of the government building. It was convenient, freshly made, and past security so we really enjoyed our visit at the passport office.“

City Eats Dining Center Cafeteria • $
Dining Center, 1600 Holloway Ave, San Francisco

“Today, I'm going to my local college to try out the food from their cafeteria and give an honest review. On Yelp, City Eats has an impressive 2 star rating. My standards for food are very low and I can pretty much eat anything so let's put these reviews to the test... I wanted to see if the cups were foggy and cracked so I got the pineapple juice. It didn't leak or taste like it was from a can so that's a star. The pork loin lacked seasoning, which is good because I've been trying to lose weight and it wasn't dry like the Sahara Desert but closer to the Gobi Desert so that's a star. I was so excited when I saw the worker scoop a very thick white sauce into my pasta. It was very creamy and hot, just like how i like it so that's a star. There's a new soft serve machine so I waited in line for 10 minutes. As I walked back to my table, my soft serve started to melt. I like my soft serve extra soft so that's a star. I took some food home in these special food wraps and gave it to my dog. He loves turkey. 5 Stars!“
