“Very good, but not perfect. Maybe the recent Michelin star and the hype skewed some of my expectations, but while some dishes were outstanding, others fell a bit flat.

The beginning of the meal started out stronger, with a simple, but satisfying bread and butter and flavorful first course, for which I received a vegetarian variation to accommodate my finned fish allergy.

The 2nd course with the poached egg was definitely the best part of the whole meal - very rich, but silky and complex with flavor and texture.

The 3rd course pastas were both amazing for the same reasons as the 2nd and a close favorite.

The 4th courses were where things disappoint a bit: Though the lobster 3 ways sounds great, the stew was a little too overpowering in flavor and hiding the lobster's flavor (though there was a decent amount of lobster meat in there). The sauce that accompanied the tail was delicious, but the tail was uneven in doneness, with the narrow part a bit overdone while the thicker part was just right. The tempura claw was perfect and the best part of the main course.
For my husband's main course- the wagyu bavette. It was delicious.

The 5th course - dessert - was also a mix. I found the chocolate pear too one-note and overpowering with pear (expecting other flavors to come out of the chocolate, cake, or almond shortbread). My husband's sundae was much better with all the right flavors and balance coming through.

Overall, this was a great meal, but not perfect.“

“What a treat , the decor, the atmosphere, the service , the presentation, the flavors… it was our first time and for my wife s birthday who turn out to not “typically” like most of what was on the menu (except the lobster but she was hoping for crab but was no longer in season) but LOVED every dish she had and so did I. They offered an extra dish but there is already plenty. I would have been very happy without the quail dish which felt like a lot after everything else but we just came out of a detox and tend to tend toward vegetarian (not a good place for those purists!); still an amazing place we will get back to when we can.

Vegetarian options: No options it is a lot of seafood plus quail topically with no option to swap .

Dietary restrictions: No way to tweak the menu much, a no go for our vegan and vegetarian friends !

Parking: Busy street paid parking until 8p Mon-Sat but can find it in back streets with patience ?

Kid-friendliness: No, very quiet and very strict / fancy menu

Wheelchair accessibility: Seems so, table are quite spaced out !“

“I have dined at The Cavalier dozens of times, and they always hit the mark in every category. The ambience is classic and chic, the staff are attentive and timely, and the food is always excellent. They have a fully stocked bar, and if you don't like a drink for any reason, they will not hesitate to swiftly swap it until you do. This is one of the handful of restaurants in San Francisco that performs in every aspect without fail every time. It is located within Hotel Zetta, that is also a wonderful choice for an overnight stay.“

“Wow!! They SO deserve their 3 Michelin starts! The food was off the charts and so was the service. Sinead noticed I was left handed and switched everything to make it easier for me. I have NEVER experienced this before and I’ve been to many Michelin started restaurants. The sommelier was amazing - we had two bottles, a Sancerre and a Chablis, and they were both absolutely wonderful. The birthday cake was PHENOMENAL. I’m thankful to their amazing staff for making this a wonderful celebration. Thank you!!!! I personally LOVE the minimalistic decor. The music was perfect as well. Why go gaudy when you can be absolutely beautiful?!?! I’m so in favor of their decor. And heated toilet seats?! Love it!“

“We were very excited to try this new French Indian restaurant in the city. We had the western Indian food in London, but the restaurant closed a few years ago... We also missed the modern Indian restaurant that closed during the pandemic across the street from SF Opera... We ordered the duck samosa, lentil soup, coconut/crab soup to start, and spicy lamb curry and beef pepper fry for our main dishes. The starters we ordered were very delicious. The main dishes were good, but a bit salty for us. We also shared the coconut pudding for dessert and we liked it was light with flavors. I like the slow speed of food serving, so we could take time to enjoy the food. I would appreciate it if I could order the house made chai here. Can't find it on the menu, although there is chai cocktail.“

“The cocktail was excellent at Quince! They have a collaboration going on with Bar Agricole currently and the cocktails are really well thought out. Craig is very hospitable!

The service was excellent and all the staff is very friendly and professional. I really enjoyed meeting Neev, the service manager.

The food was very tasty - especially the John Dory. You get great canapés and some sweets in the end as well.

It's a great deal for a 3 Michelin Star restaurant to be able to experience some of the dishes a la carte in the beautiful Salon room.

The interior is beautifully done!“

The Vista Room Fine Dining • $$
Burk Hall, 1600 Holloway Ave Room 401, San Francisco

“Fine-dining meal for $19!!This is a wonderful little restaurant, on the fourth floor of Burk Hall, that's only open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays currently. You should make a reservation on Yelp, but I think they allow walk-ins. There's a prix fix option, which is just under $20.50 after tax. You get to choose an appetizer, entree, and dessert, and drinks. Only cash or checks are accepted. The bread provided was foccacia cut into diamond-shaped pieces. The bread that they first brought out was hard and dry, so I told them it was hard. More bread was brought out promptly and it was softer, but still dry. I didn't tell them it was dry because I didn't want to be difficult. I had some lemonade to drink, and it was pretty good. I also had tea at the end, but it was piping hot and I didn't get a chance to drink much. It was fine.I chose to have the house green salad for my appetizer. It was a good mix of leafy-greens covered in vinaigrette. It wasn't special, but good. I decided to have the pasta of the week for my entree. It was penne pasta salad with feta cheese, capers, and cooked grape tomatoes. It was absolutely delicious and I basically inhaled it. For dessert, I chose the pumpkin bundt cake. It was fantastic. It was moist, soft, a little misshapen, but still delicious. The créme anglaise was like melted ice cream, and I loved it.The waiters were students and had more to learn. Service was very good, despite mistakes. The person who seemed like an instructor was great. You won't be able to find a three-course fine-dining meal anywhere else in San Francisco for the same price. The portions are good sizes and you'll leave feeling fed, but not stuffed. I highly recommend checking this place out.

Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options available.

Kid-friendliness: A child might like the art and views out the windows.

Parking: Parking lot nearby.

Wheelchair accessibility: Use elevator to get up, doors of Vista Room are wide enough.

Dietary restrictions: Ask for more information.“
