I wish words could describe how amazing this place is. Jo is a lovely host and I feel at home every time I'm here. Don't be intimidated, this Japanese "hot pot" is delicious and fun. Happy Shabu Shabu has the best quality meats of any restaurant like it in the city. Very VERY authentically Japanese. Exquisite.
A really fun experience and good food for a decent price. It can get really loud though and if you're more than two people there's a good chance you can only be seated in a row. Otherwise, I highly recommend it! Also, I prefer Miso over Tonkatsu as that has more flavor.

I traveled to San Francisco with 31 high school students and 2 other teachers. Happy Shabu Shabu graciously hosted our large group and we had an amazing meal here. Many had never tried Shabu Shabu and we had an enjoyable time. The service was amazing! 10/10 recommend!
