OMG! This place rocked my socks off. The dumplings are INCREDIBLE! The service is very slow but oh man is it worth it. The shrimp and chive dumplings are some of the best I have ever had with SO much packed flavor. The tomato and egg soup was so filling and comforting. The chili oil on the table adds so much depth to the food and I will be returning to try more dumplings!
There are many places in SF similar to House of Xi’an - casual Chinese food, small tables, friendly staff, great food. If you’re looking for a nicer, elegant spot then this is probably not for you. Instead, you’ll get great food served quickly from a very attentive staff. Try the beef noodle soup and the pea shoots with garlic. Very tasty. The staff speaks broken English but enough to get by if you don’t speak Mandarin.
We came here two years ago when visiting SF and loved it so much we had to come back. The quality remains excellent and the staff is so kind. Don’t miss this place if you’re in Chinatown, it’s so delicious ! Try the soup dumplings.
