“Don’t overlook this little sandwich shop. I read reviews and decided it sounded good. It was charming. Loved the little place. The sandwich was amazing and huge. I had a turkey sandwich with everything on it and toasted. I wish I could share the flavor - but just YUM! While we were there a guy came in and said he had come to San Francisco on business and had traveled across town to come get a sandwich. He said he used to come to the shop on his way home from high school many years ago. It was so good he just had to come back and get a sandwich.“

Off the Grid Fort Mason Center Food Spot Food Trucks • $
2 Marina Blvd, San Francisco

“Off the Grid at Fort Mason is a seasonal event, usually for a few months at a time (spring & fall) & last night was there last event until next year. The team last night was kimchi and K-pop. There was a DJ spinning K-pop music (BlackPink, BTS, Psy, etc.) & Korean themed food items from vendors. It was pretty fun. I've been to taco competitions & other themed events at OTG too. There's always live music or a DJ, a bar in the middle (my favorite drink is the hot cider with rum). Bathrooms are located in Building C. I'm looking forward to the next season of OTG at Fort Mason. It's good fun.“

Proper Food Salad • $$
35 Spear St, San Francisco

“Ever since it opened, proper food has become my no.1 place for lunch. By looking at the number of photos in this review, you'd know I come here almost every day and have tried everything on the menu... it is that good and convenient. I love that they pre package the food so you can clearly see all the ingredients and decide what you'd like. The best thing is to skip the lines. The portion is very good for its price!!“

Proper Food Takeout • $$
100 1st St, San Francisco

“No fructose, no corn syrup; no hormones, no antibiotics; all natural and handmade for human consumption. As for the freshness, every proper food entreé and salads must be eaten right away before it's long overdue from oxidation. The last time I looked at the broccoli in the tofu curry entreé in the Proper Food vending machine in my workplace, this green protein changed its fatigued color. Therefore, I chose an entreé that looks and tastes fresh like the one pictured below. Just imagine if the lights go out and there's no gas to turn on the stove, there will be no other options but to just eat meals that are cold and fresh. Salad bowls are also good in hard cheese bits. It'd be good to prepare in case the worst happens. Given that it's fresh, try to dig in without having the owner of Proper Food to heat it up for you. Compared to other Proper Food stores, this one has such a good airy atmosphere, and is open on weekdays til 4 or 5 pm.“

Proper Food Takeout • $$
350 California St, San Francisco

“** The following review reflects my experience prior to the shelter-in-place order currently in effect. ** If there's any chain that appeared ready for the pandemic, it would have to be this one since its numerous locations offered ready-made lunches that are both tasty and healthy. They're also on the pricier side, but that's a given for the fresh organic ingredients they use. The bigger challenge for them now is that almost all their locations are in the FiDi where offices have not reopened, and when they do reopen, there will likely be far less office workers in the area. When I do return, I'll definitely pick up my favorite of their salad bowls, the $13.95 Pulpo Primavera with braised octopus tentacles, garbanzo beans, arugula, frisée, salsa verde, pimento, and lemon (photo: On past visits, I've gotten the Coconut Prawn & Kale Salad and when I was feeling particularly guilty calorie-wise, the Lemon Quinoa Salad. For a hearty appetite, it's all good stuff if you don't mind spending a little more and yes, quite proper. FOOD - 4 stars...it's a treat to have braised octopus with your salad AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...they all look the same...clean, convenient pick-up and go SERVICE - 3.5 stars...checkout is quick when there's no queue TOTAL - 4 stars...proper during a pandemic RELATED - Lost in the FiDi? Here's a collection of places I've tried and reviewed:“

Proper Food Salad • $$
655 Montgomery St, San Francisco

“Fresh tasting and a healthier choice- I think. Well it taste good! I had the chimichurri steak. The steak was perfectly cooked, the sauce was just right, potatoes and vegetables were delicious. The staff is very friendly, and the store is clean. There are about 2-4 clean tables outside. Peaceful....then I had a root beer.“

Market Cocina Mexican • $$
399 4th St, San Francisco

“This is a supermarkets chain of health and organic food and products. This supermarket had a very large selection. We got there because we wanted to eat healthy food. And not only is their healthy food, but also really tasty, fresh and there is a very large selection. There is self-service by which you choose a box size and make your dish alone. At the end weigh and pay by weight. It was very tasty and rich. It is highly recommended!“
