This place is just a great neighborhood bar with good pub food and some of, if not the, best fish and chips in SF.
I keep thinking this friendly English pub is a lot older than it is, like from the Barbary Coast days. But no, it opened only in 1991 which means I was old enough to have a pint in here back then. Meantime, The Pig & Whistle is among the most familiar and reasonably priced watering holes in the city. It's a place I can pop by as I traverse Geary from the Richmond.
