“Good spot for some fine food in Soma close to BART. Menu had lost so delicious choices. Steak and fries were expectational. Deviled egg was a surprise hit, I got a few. A bit pricey. Worth it if you want to eat at a nice spot in the area considering options are dying out in this part of the city. Will visit again.“
“TLDR: It's the most reliable fish and chip store. I've tried this place at various times in a more than 5 year span and it has always been good. Can and will always recommend. Fish: Batter isn't too thick, and the fish has a flaky solid bite. Crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside with seasoning that won't overpower the mouth. Shrimp: The same solid battering with the same seasoning profile. Shrimp was not overcooked and it provides a different texture compared to the fish. Fries: Fries are fries. It's nothing special, but they didn't mess it up. Clam Chowder: Rich, creamy, loaded with seafood, and it can surprisingly compete with the better clam chowders around town. Service: It's a food truck. You order, you pay, and you get your food. It's not hard to mess it up. Ambiance: The picnic benches under the umbrellas around the truck isn't bad given the San Francisco climate. The tables are sometimes sticky though because they're probably not wiped as much.“
“I keep thinking this friendly English pub is a lot older than it is, like from the Barbary Coast days. But no, it opened only in 1991 which means I was old enough to have a pint in here back then. Meantime, The Pig & Whistle is among the most familiar and reasonably priced watering holes in the city. It's a place I can pop by as I traverse Geary from the Richmond. I have yet to eat here as I rarely have a hankering in the middle of the afternoon for bangers & mash. However, their menu is a lot more robust and well-rounded with burgers and even Mexican parmigiana, so yes, I should try the food. I'm more lured by the cheap but potent drinks... Like the $5.50 Tequila Sunrise (photo: Lately kind bartender Chris has been making me the $7.50 'Espresso' Martini where he substitutes espresso with coffee and coffee liqueur (photo: Delicious. A rotating crew of regulars hoist their pints, and they definitely add to the pub's "Cheers"-like vibe. DRINKS - 4 stars...cheap and the faux-espresso martini is a winner AMBIANCE - 4 stars...friendly British-style space SERVICE - 4.5 stars...Chris is an expert bartender TOTAL - 4 stars...where everyone knows your name RELATED - Exploring the Richmond? Here's a collection of places I've visited and reviewed:“
“Everything was made to order. The Fish was fresh and the Tempura style batter deliciously crispy. I was in SF from Scotland and have ate plenty of Fish & Chips at home and during my trip and this was definitely the standout of all the places I tried in SF. I can not understand some of the other reviews about blandness. It's battered Fish & Chips folks.. and excellent at that.Portion Sizes excellent with plenty of fresh and crispy fries.“
“Fish N chips and ice cold beer!Generous portions and very friendly staff. Small place but quick service with a small bar seating option. My friend and I shared an order of fish and chips and it was enough to satisfy. The fish tasted fresh and the batter was light, which I appreciate. I would've liked the fish a little more seasoned but easily fixed with all the condiments they have at the tables.“
“Kensington Circus Pub is such a hidden gem & most certainly one of our favorite neighborhood places to tuck into. It's not only a fun place to watch a game with friends, but also just for date night to cozy up to the bar for comfort food, a cocktail or freshly poured Guinness, and conversation. Love the British pub feel! Food highlights: corn fritters, thick cut fries, the clam chowder, Caesar salad, Shepherds pie, fish tacos, tuna melt, B.L.A.T. (bacon, lettuce, avocado, tomato), and thick cut pork chop to name a few. As you can see, we've been eating here for a few years - the food is always consistent, fresh, hearty portions, and honestly there's such a variety it keeps the overall ordering experience just so fun! The servers make you feel like family and the ambience is lively, especially when sports are on or live entertainment (check their website for the event calendar). We recently stopped in on a weekend evening for dessert, drinks, and music. They have what's called "England's most popular sticky toffee pudding" with a tagline that reads "so good that we have it flown in"...omg they aren't joking! It's so delicious - warm, in a bath of butterscotch sauce with vanilla ice cream and whip cream...yum! Can't rave about this community joint enough - with indoor/outdoor seating, kiddo/dog approved, ample areas for street parking, we'll see ya again for tunes and toffee pudding soon!“
“Lovejoy's Tea Room was an amazing experience. I enjoyed the sandwiches, the scones, and the tea. I had so much fun talking with my friends while enjoying tea. The place is decorated so well that it fits with the whole aesthetic of high tea. Although it's a bit on the pricey end, it was a wonderful experience. The staff are so helpful and friendly.“
