Zhu’s Tea Reviews
The dark roasted oolong used to be more nutty and roasted but now it tasted water down. I travel from oc to sf to get it again. Did not live up to expectations.
Avocado smoothie with boba was out of this world. The brown sugar milk tea was really good too. Would happily come here again!
One of the best brown sugar boba I had!
On our way back to our hotel we were thirsty and were interested in some boba. Zhu's tea was nearby so we decided to give it a shot because of the good reviews
Very happy we went! The boba was great, we had brown sugar with fresh milk and tapioca and the mango fruit tea with popping passionfruit boba. Both were delicious and even after having tried lots of boba in my life, I would say the brown sugar might be in my top 3. The...read full review

Zhu’s Tea is a cozy and comfy boba and sushi shop in Chinatown, described as a little hole-in-the-wall or mom & pop shop with an intimate ambience. The space is very small, with only about two seats inside and a couple small tables outside, making it not ideal for sitting down or for larger groups; it is better for to-go orders. The staff is friendly and service is great, though wait times can be longer than average as food and drinks are made fresh, even when the store is not busy.
The menu features an extensive sushi selection and milk teas. The sushi, including items like the California Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, Salmon Toro, and Albacore, is consistently praised as delicious, fresh, nicely seasoned, and high quality, with lovely sushi rice. The fish quality is noted as not suspicious. The boba drinks are considered excellent and high quality, with some calling them the best they've ever had. Specific drinks highlighted include the Osmanthus Oolong milk tea, which is super floral with a strong tea taste, the Yashixiang milk tea, which has a decent lemon taste, and the Jumbo Fruit Tea and mango sago pomelo drink. Boba pearls are soft, chewy, and flavorful, though consistency can vary, with some pearls being a little harder. They offer hot drinks at no extra charge and have several non-dairy milk options. A minor critique is that requests for less ice are sometimes not fully accommodated.
Parking can be a hassle, but the location is convenient, close to the Rose Pak station. Despite the longer wait times and very limited seating, customers find the drinks and food to be of such high quality and freshness that they plan to return, making it a recommended local spot to support.
