“Cute, small place, but would not suggest the sparkling drink. I was craving boba late at night and didn’t want caffeine to keep me up. The only non-caffeinated option seemed to be turning it into a sparkling drink instead, which I did. I got the grapefruit flavored drink btw! While it didn’t taste bad, it did not feel worth the amount of money I paid for it. So to my late-night boba-craving friends, find another non-caffeinated option elsewhere and don’t spend your money on this.
Rating 4 stars because I think I’ve come here before and the regular boba tea drinks are alright.“

“Pleasantly surprised to have walked into this authentic dessert spot! I got the peach gum fresh milk drink, which was a great combo and a very traditional flavour. Highly recommend if you're looking for authentic Chinese dessert flavors.“

“tried this place when it first opened and wasn’t really wow’d…turns out i should have given them more of a chance, i just hadn’t found my fav drinks yet!
recommend: the black sesame milk tea with cream topping (the black sesame and the black tea flavor is strong so the cream evens it out nicely), crème brûlée saigon drip is real good if u want something with lots of caffeine, and then i love the pistachio coco jasmine drink for something light and low caffeine.
also pandan egg waffle is nice, kinda wish it was bigger for the price“

“Not the best boba but it is cutely decorated and they process drinks so fast! There is never a massive line here, and it is in a quaint alley next to the Cookie Factory. There is also not much seating.
The lychee jelly is standard and good. I got the honey grapefruit boba, which was less sweet than I thought at 25%. The boba itself was watery and kinda not very strongly tea flavored. The grapefruit rind at the bottom was good and flavorful but did not translate to the rest of the drink“

“Good Boba place in the area. There are a lot of options and many add-ons and flavors to make your drink taste wonderful. Workers are friendly and patient. Wish this place is closer to my home.“

“I'm not usually into boba but I really love the fruit tea here!! Strawberry peach black tea with mango popping boba is my new favorite. The flavors are so good and the price and size are very reasonable. Also the owner is really nice and super quick with orders. This is the only place I go to when i have a craving for a sweet drink.“
“Outstanding boba - texture is always on point, the packaging is adorable, and the woman working there (I think it’s just 1 person?) is so sweet. Always quick to make the drinks, and I especially love the jasmine milk tea w/ matcha cloud!“
“Why can’t all boba be like this. So flavorful, loaded with perfectly diced fresh fruit. Boba was absolutely perfectly cooked. In a city full of disappointing boba, with “fruit teas” that routinely contain little fresh fruit, this is an absolute standout. So glad I found it, and will definitely be back to try a mango smoothie!!“

“I tried the wraps from a work event and realized I needed to stop in and check it out.
I love the atmosphere, the individuals inside are kind and knowledgeable, great recommendations from them all.
I will be back to enjoy the view as well, please tip the staff!“

“I came here this evening and ordered a bubble tea from the kiosk. The woman working was incredibly friendly, and they have a cute little store. But I ordered a black milk tea with 25% sugar and received an incredibly sweet brown sugar milk tea instead. It was way too sweet, but probably just an oversight.“

“I love Pixelcat!! my go to spot for a fun coffee (-: I have tried most of their coffee drinks at this point. My favorites being their sparkling 'cano and espresso tonic. For a sweet drink, any of their doppo panna lattes and the iced tiger cat are really fun and different, but well balanced.
I haven't tried much of their food because I am not a big mochi person, but a lot of people seem to enjoy and i like that they have so much variety!
Everyone who works there is so kind, I always find myself going back!!! (-:“

“Honestly the best boba spot in the city. It’s a nice little boba shop in the neighborhood and near the beach. Their boba actually tastes fresh and drinks are so good. The mango one tastes amazing and for the taro one they have actual taro with it! Great kind people/service and comfy environment. Support your local boba spot!“

“We stumbled upon this place while exploring Chinatown as tourists, hoping to try some authentic Chinese food. The restaurant was packed, which gave us a good feeling, and it definitely did not disappoint. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The beef with broccoli was tender, the noodles were delicious, and every bite felt homemade. Great portions, friendly service, and an authentic atmosphere. One of our favorite meals in San Francisco. Highly recommend if you’re looking for real, delicious Chinese food!“

“My boyfriend and I stopped by after being at the beach and it was so delicious! I got the tonkotsu and he got the miso ramen. It was phenomenal. We have only one at our home city in Indiana and this blew it out of the water! The waitress was super sweet and the vibes were nice. I cannot stress enough how tasty the food was!“

“We're so lucky to have so many great boba cafes here in San Francisco. And Black Sugar is one of them.
It's a small spot at the edge of the Tenderloin near Union Square. They have a few caffeine-free choices and I got their mango sago, which is a mango puree with grapefruit bits and coconut milk. Since it already had sago, I didn't add boba, which is good btw. Its has that qq bounce and is softly sweetened with brown sugar.
The mango was so refreshing! The coconut added a creamy texture and the grapefruit bits added a pop of tartness. The sago added another layer of texture that was both soft and chewy. I usually like to take my time with boba drinks, but this one was so good that I drank it pretty fast.
I usually order mine online for pick up. But service is pretty quick after ordering. Though I can imagine it's busier on weekends.
I've had several of their drinks, including their popular black sugar fresh milk, and they are all good. Definitely take a detour when you're in Union Square when the boba craving hits.“

“I was looking through my photos and realized I never left a review when I tried Mama Go's 2 years ago. I remember ordering the adobo chicken and pork bicol express and loving it so much. If I ever go back to SFO, I will eat there again.“

“Stopped by B&B and had an amazing bánh mì. The owner was super friendly and welcoming, and you can tell he really cares about both the food and his customers.
The sandwich was huge and packed with fresh ingredients. I also loved hearing that he doesn't carry ingredients over from one day to the next, so everything stays fresh. That attention to quality definitely shows in the taste.
Great food, generous portions, and genuinely kind service. I'll definitely be coming back for another bánh mì!“

“I’m a snob about Matcha, 90% of matcha lattes in the City and Town are garbage, BUT THIS matcha is FIRE almost turned around mid block after my first sip to tell the staff THANK YOU for getting it right👏👏👏. My new SF matcha spot, excited to try the milk teas and snacks next time!“

“I always get their matcha it’s pretty good most of the time
Except there have been a few occasions where the boba seemed like not done and had a tough texture which isn’t great
Service is usually super quick and friendly as well
Also they say the boba isn’t ready til 11:30 just a heads up if ur headed there when they open, although I’ve still ordered it as soon as they open and they’ve had it“

“The sago is so good. The boba is really good as well. Hard to choose which boba to get with so many options. I would put this at the level of Asha Teahouse. I need to try the fruit tea still and will update this because I know Asha is known for its fruit tea. I love the location of this place and they are quick. They always fill the cup with a lot of boba, etc.“

“When I visited, the store had no seating and had closed their restrooms to customers, not sure if this is a usual thing. I ordered from an iPad, I liked that it had photos & an in-depth description of all the different tea options. My friend got the Oreo Matcha & I got the Lil’ Giraffe. It was pretty good, I was surprise they didn’t already come with the traditional boba ($0.75 additional charge). My friend’s was better, I didn’t taste much of the cake batter maybe due to my 75% sweetness instead of 100%? I wouldn’t recommend the Lil’ Giraffe, I’m sure there other options are better.“

“After seeing Ivonnie S.' popcorn chicken photos, I needed to come to Foam Tea House. Their popcorn chicken bento box w/milk tea $16 was indeed good. I liked how there's basil in the popcorn chicken and came with a little thing of spicy Taiwanese powder. The egg rolls were the Costco type, not that there's anything wrong with that. For Taiwanese bentos, I would have preferred a traditional pickled egg or vegetables instead. Food came out quick. Good job Foam Tea House staff member and thank you Ivonnie for always posting useful content.
Background: This location used to be a bakery for a long time. Rolling Out Bakery used to have some good croissants, egg tarts and kouign amanns. The nerd card store Versus Games is still here. The card shop was packed full of people playing card games like Pokemon or Magic taking up all the parking.“

“Cuppa is a neighborhood gem! They have awesome matcha and their food is awesome. Shoutout to their pricing as well. Way cheaper than the vast majority of boba shops in SF. Best spam Musubi and spicy crab Musubi! It’s a must try! The spicy crab fries are a must as well!
Did I mention they also have froyo?!! The only dole whip I’ve seen outside of Disneyland!“

Best experience ever – thanks to Angela!
I ordered an iced Thai green milk tea and an Ohachi strawberry tea — both were super refreshing and full of flavor, not too sweet, just perfect.
What really made the visit special was Angela. She was so friendly, kind, and welcoming from the moment I walked in. She helped me choose, made sure everything was just right, and honestly gave me the best customer service I’ve ever had at a bubble tea place. It felt like talking to a friend.“

“Have come here before and will keep coming back- great selection of fruit teas, milk teas, smoothies, even soft serve and egg puff waffle. I was introduced to this place by friends who really like this boba spot too. It’s a small store inside but they process orders quickly and there’s 3 little screens to place your order on. No bathroom or inside seating, though there are 2 benches just outside.
I got the honey lemon with aloe, regular ice, 50% sugar, with agar (pictured) and it was a good option for a hot day when I wanted something light.“

“Loved the mango boba with red beans ❤️So delicious and comforting, what’s more is that I paid the price of 1 for 2 with their special discount that day . Too bad there’s no branch here in the L.A. area .
Dietary restrictions: With the customized ordering, you can opt to reduce the sugar in your boba drink, I only had 50% of the amount of sugar for my calorie limit. So that’s really great and my boba tasted so yummy , my hubby had one too?“

“Yu's Cafe is a good spot for unique treats at very reasonable prices. It is located in Chinatown, beside a park. Their Coffee Cheese is absolutely delicious.
The warm red bean dessert is another winner, delicious whether you order it hot or cold. The cafe uses an efficient touch screen ordering service, but the friendly staff are always there to provide warm service. Great value, great flavor!“
“Sitting as a small window on the side of Nepalese Indian restaurant, this boba shop is quite good! I was impressed by the selection of pearls, jellies, and popping boba. There's also quite a few drink flavors and a few fried foods. I ordered passionfruit mango with mango jellies, lightly sweetened. It had the perfect amount of topping and was around 60% sweet. Large is the only size offered, and at $7 with one topping, the price is fair.
There is no onsite seating, but you're right next to the library and city hall with plenty of benches. Orders can take a few minutes since employees are shared with the adjacent restaurant.
Overall, I was quite impressed considering the unassuming presentation, and I'll definitely come back when I'm in the area.“

“Was expecting standard boba, but was pleasantly surprised at the taste and quality. Tried the classic and jasmine milk tea which had perfect balance of rich tea flavor and creamer. I looove the flavor of non dairy creamer in boba and am so happy this place uses it (also grateful as a lactose-intolerant person). The pearls had perfect texture both times, and I just found out they are handmade which is cool!“

“Best sandwich ever in Excelsior area The bread is always crunchy and the meat is amazingly flavorful. My always choice is of course #6 grilled pork with well-seasoned meat and abundantly fresh veggies. #3 combination is also a should-try . It is what I believe the most traditional one. Besides these, a must-have is definitely Vietnamese ice coffee. It is made strong and sweet beautifully bringing me back the flavor which I always miss when being away from home. A strongly- recommended spot when you are in the area...“

“Everytime I come here, I question why I don’t come more often. The prices in comparison to the service and the great taste are amazing. The lady is so thoughtful and generous with her suggestions and information. I wish this place was in a more open place so it would be more known.“
“Hok Tea is seemingly a new boba spot in Chinatown and a great addition to the neighborhood collection. I tried the Mango Coconut Milk and the Yakult Qing Tea. Both were good, but the Mango Coconut Milk was definitely my favorite. It was refreshing, fruity, and creamy at the same time without being overly sweet. The Yakult Qing Tea was light but I felt less enjoyable. The shop itself is small but cute, cozy and welcoming vibe. There was only one staff member making drinks when I visited, but service was still quick and efficient. Overall, I had a pleasant experience and would happily come back to try more drinks.“

“This is a boba drinks store that I find a bit unique. You can customize your drinks to your taste from no sugar to 2x the sweet level. I encountered many stores that refused to give me zero sweets drink. So I really appreciate that they gave me a choice. I had the mango slush and strawberry slush, with boba and lychee and coconut. It was delicious 😋! The only drawback is there is only one order kiosk and one barista? The store has lots of takeout and to-go orders so it’s constantly busy. So be patient and wait until your turn.“
