“The pizza at Bob's is so insanely good. Everything very fresh, the crust is a perfect thickness, sauce, cheese and toppings all awesome. A really nice vibe inside the restaurant and extremely friendly staff.

*One thing to note: Make sure if you're asking for a single slice of pizza, to request that it is freshly cooked. The pizza has to be cooked fresh out of the oven and that's where one experiences the magic...“

“Best crust I have had in years“

“I probably had one of the best lunches of my life at the Bear and the Wren earlier today! Chef Mo is the man, we had his Piada with roasted garlic cloves and it was so incredibly delicious I can't stop thinking about it. The allium butter was so smooth it perfectly complemented every texture and flavor of the rest of the dish. The roasted garlic was perfectly cooked and when it mixed with the spread it was actually beautiful, it tasted like I was consuming art. I've been here multiple times and all of their detroit style pizzas are fantastic, the combination of flavors is masterfully done and I always leave excited to come back for more! For dessert we got the Ginger Molasses cast iron Cookie which was potentially the best dessert I've ever had and upon the first bite I genuinely felt my day being brightened and joy overtake me. It's a big enough dessert to share although I would also eat the entire thing by myself because it was that good. To conclude I do and would recommend The Bear & The Wren to anyone who wants to have a fantastic lunch or dinner with great service in a beautiful calm environment!“

“I am a pizza lover and make my own pizza. I’ve been in Italy with my Italian family and have tasted some of the best pizza. Mike, the owner of Palo Mesa Pizza, knows pizza! Perfect crust and not too crazy American style overdose of toppings. He even shared pizza secretes to keep me enthused. His dough to go is better than anywhere else in SLO.“

“We were looking for some take-out to eat back in our motel room after a long day's driving, and the manager at the motel recommended this place. It's a lively student sports-bar pizza joint with an amazing variety of available pies with different crusts, and what looks like maybe 25 beers and other beverages on tap, but the crowd at 8:30 wasn't too noisy or nuts and the guys pulling pints were very friendly. After a free taste (!) we had a pint each of their house-brewed IPA and Red Ale while we were waiting for our pizza, and both beers turned out to be surprisingly good, with the extra surprise that Wednesday was 'Discount Pint Night' or something, so they were a mere $5 each! If we could have rented somebody to carry us back to our motel, we would definitely have knocked down a few more of these brews. The pizza turned out to be delicious, as well. All in all a fun stop.“

“Delicious pizza and awesome customer service 😃 after I left I got a call from an employee, it was the guy who helped me when I picked up my order and he had called to let me know someone had found my debit card on the ground!!! Omg thank you so much for caring enough to call me to let me know, you guys don't even know how much I appreciate that! I wish I had gotten his name so I could mention his name in this review but it was the young man working the counter at 10:30pm on May 12th (2026). Thank you so much!
