Taqueria El Buen Gusto & Best Menudo is a phenomenal, family-run hole-in-the-wall taqueria that delivers amazing food every time. The food quality is AMAZING, with many calling it the real deal and the best in Santa Barbara. Specific standout dishes include the Al Pastor Super Burrito, which is delicious and perfectly seasoned, and the carnitas, which some consider the best carnitas burrito in the area. Their menudo, available on weekends and sometimes with pata, is good, and they also offer great seafood, caldo de res with delicious broth, and legendary, greasy, full, savory, and crispy quesadillas that are a gold standard. The Camarones a-la Diabla is also great.
The restaurant is very family oriented, with a nice atmosphere full of laughter and conversations, and is considered family friendly. Service is quick and bilingual, with good customer service and little wait even when busy. A significant pro is the salsa bar, which includes jalapeños, limes, and radishes. Burritos and tacos are packed full of meat, and regular burritos come with more than just beans and rice, including pico. Some note the decor is outdated and very Mexican, which may not appeal to everyone, but the focus remains on the absolutely amazing food.
