Found Berlina after waiting for a relative at UCLA imaging. Very charming coffee shop with an inviting ambiance. Food and decor show care and presentation of sandwiches is very appetizing. The owner was as friendly as she was efficient but what I found most impressive was the care and attention that she provided to a gentleman who appeared to be homeless. Stopped in about noon on a weekday, and immediately felt welcome. The space is charming and clean, the menu varies to a small degree, and food is brought in fresh. The prices are very good, considering the location; I was surprised, pleasantly. I also looked that they can accept cash. I got an Americano, black, and a pastry with cardamom, the last one there. There is no better place in 10 ml radius to have a European style pastry, great coffee and croissant in peace and quiet. It’s squeaky clean and it’s very comfortable. I’ve been coming here every week since it opened a couple of years ago.
