HomeState is a restaurant praised for its delicious food and excellent customer service. The homemade tortillas are incredible, and the salsa is perfection. Popular menu items include the Don’t Mess With Texas, Trinity, and Comal tacos, as well as the potato taco with a nice crispy potato. The brisket taco has super tender brisket, and the Fort Worth with tomatillo ranch and spiced chicken is spectacular. The loaded queso is a standout, with generous portions and extra chips provided. Drinks like the margarita and Cookie Milk Iced Coffee are also great. The staff is super nice, friendly, and helpful, and the seating variety is wonderful. However, some reviews note inconsistency with the brisket tacos, which have been too salty and not edible on two occasions. Despite this, the other food is delicious, and many customers would be happy with just the margarita, tortillas, and house salsa. The Santa Monica location is considered even better than the Playa Vista one, and many guests plan to return.
