“Zhangfei Hotpot in Fremont is an absolute gem! I've been searching for authentic, flavorful hotpot in the Bay Area, and this place truly delivers.
We opted for their classic Spicy Mala broth, and it was incredibly aromatic and delicious – perfectly balanced with numbing peppercorns and a rich, spicy kick. It genuinely transported me back to the hotpot experiences I've had in China! The selection of ingredients is fantastic; everything from the tripe and duck intestine to the fresh vegetables was high quality and cooked beautifully in the broth.
The sauce bar is incredibly well-stocked, offering a huge variety of condiments to customize your perfect dipping sauce. You can go classic with sesame oil and garlic, or get creative with their extensive options.
The ambiance is also lovely – a clean and comfortable space with a nice blend of traditional and modern decor, making it great for a casual meal or a gathering with friends.
Value for money is excellent too. Considering the quality of the food and the service, I felt it was very reasonably priced.

“My boyfriend and I frequent this place regularly and every time we have the food, it’s still amazing! The Seolleongtang broth is always rich and the meat is very tender. We’ve had some other options like the clay pot Bulgogi which is flavorful, and also the Galbijjim (my favorite). The staff is also so friendly and welcoming!“

“Oh my! This place has become one of my favorite places to go to for some good comfort food, like Chili. The food is yummy, tasty and hearty and really hits the spot for a little bit of warmth when it's chilly and cold outside.

It's pretty affordable for what's served, if I could price it out myself, it would be $1 - $1.50 less for the soups, but I don't know their overhead expenses so what would I know?!

The seating area is fine, plenty of booths, tables and high top tables with enough table top and seats to fit 6 people at each table and parking is easy peasy, since the deli is part of a small shopping center.

The owners are always friendly and happy to serve their customers, and they're patient too. It just makes the experience that much better. I can owe this restaurant finding to my older brother Bruce, who met up with my dad one day for lunch.

“I'm currently getting over a cold and needed some hot soup for lunch. I've driven past this place for the past year but never made the effort to come. I decided to change that today. The outside can be a little easy to miss as it's tucked away in an open strip mall, but parking is ample.

I was immediately seated as it was really packed for the lunch hour. The menu isn't huge on variety but in a good way. Too many restaurants try to pack too many items in, but this restaurant knows its identity and what they're good at. They stick to the classic Vietnamese dishes with little to no frills. I ended up with a bowl of beef pho with the rib bone. The food came out surprisingly quick which was excellent for those on a time crunch. The soup was flavorful and hot. They give you a good amount of meat and noodles. Side note - a lot of other pho places have been skimping on noodles lately.

Overall I was really impressed with the level of service and food. I would definitely be back to try other dishes. I was suggested to try the grilled chicken rice dish and the bun bo hue (spicy beef noodle soup). The decor is also really cute and trendy with a really laid back vibe. “They’re reliable! Been going here for about 8 years now. It seems to be ran by a Chinese couple there, very kind folk. Always a smile on their face when I see them. It’s a super no-frills hole-in-the-wall call—ahead type dealio. Our regular items are:

1. Beef chow mein

4. Beef and Brocolli
5. Sweet and sour pork
6. Fried pork wontons
7. Shrimp egg foo young - recent pick-up

& some refrigerated Dr. Pepper cans! Call ahead about 15-20 minutes and they’re always pretty good about getting done by then. Sometimes I wait a little extra but it’s because they’re a bit busy for dinner time.“

“My personal favorite dish is their House special pan fried noodles. The portion of this was insane, this itself can feed 4 people. Love the vegetables, squid, shrimp,…. on top of the noodles. The toppings are cooked with this slightly thick sauce which drenches the fried noodle making it some parts of it crunchy and some of it soft/soggy. I grew up eating this dish and so I’m almost always ordering this dish.

My second favorite dish is their honey walnut shrimp. This is always a hit at every family dinner I have and so I just had to order it. Their shrimp had a bite to it and a bouncy texture. It was cooked perfectly.

This was my first time trying Olive Garden, and everything was amazing. I had one of their homemade soups as an appetizer, it was so flavorful. I also ordered the Herb-Grilled Salmon 😋 and it was absolutely delicious, definitely a 10/10. The Chicken Alfredo was really nice as well.
