“This is a really nice cafe in Downey. They have free wifi, many snacks and nice boba. The boba menu is great. The smoothie and fruit tea are nice too. I think the standard menu is a bit too sweet for me. The snacks are like frozen snacks and took out to fry. Staff was very nice. Clean restroom. Great vibes for working or chatting.“

“Nice little place. Drinks are pretty decent. Very minimalist: Seating is only for waiting for your drink. This isn't a place to sit down and have a conversation. You order, wait, pick up and go. Pretty simple. If there isn't anyone at the front, off to the left wall from the entrance is the tablet to order.“

“First time here and did an improv trip down to try their wide matcha selection! From different matcha drink flavors to soft serve ice cream, there was a lot! I opt to try their OG stuff first so I went with their level 3 matcha latte in oat milk and their parfait to make my trip worth it! It didn’t disappoint me. It didn’t taste water down matcha that you’ll get at other stores that make matcha. But it’s not as rich tasting ask rok or maru coffee’s matcha to my preference. Overall still hit 10/10! Would come back to try their other matcha selections! Service was friendly and efficient so it made the overall experience more welcoming for a revisit!“

The brown sugar boba milk tea is rich in tea flavor with just the right amount of sweetness, and the boba is perfectly chewy and soft — absolutely delicious. “Have only tried their teas so far and I love them. I definitely adore their 4 seasons tea. Their brews aren’t super strong but aren’t too watered down either. Just the right amount of tea strength. I like that you can go from no sugar to 100%. Definitely gives you a lot of wiggle room depending on your sweet tooth.“

I must have purchased a box that had quality control issues because I found an empty bag within the first two bags I pulled from the box. “This review is a long time coming! I came here 3 times between Oct 2022 and April 2023, bringing friends (some new and some repeats) for tea tastings. You can try 5 teas per tasting with 5 steepings per tea (for time's sake and not because of flavor dissipation). There is such a wide and ever-changing selection of teas so there's always more to try than you could possibly ever drink!Tea habitat specializes in Chinese teas, but since that's already a lot of area to cover, you'll find something for everyone's tastes. The owner is hilarious, and we all enjoyed interacting not only with the tea and each other, but also with her. We definitely leave tea drunk :)I usually put some tasting notes for the teas in my reviews, but notes for 15 teas is a bit excessive so I'll just share a couple of my favorites.The 2022 Tai Ping Hou Kui Wild Grown 1st pick is almost matcha-like, velvety soft with a slight nuttiness. The flavor mellows over the steepings into a clean mouthfeel with subtle floral bouquet.The 2022 Xiao Ye Tu Cha Wild Native (white) Varietal Small Leaf was super interesting! It started with a sweet aroma and reminded me inexplicably of soy milk (a mix of slight creaminess and nuttiness, maybe), but with juicy mouth feel. The creamy berry sweetness really predominates in the second steeping, and there is a subtle almost umami tendency in the third steeping.I also bought a Chao Zhou red clay teapot to brew Phoenix Dan Cong teas at home!To buy to bring home, the prices of the tea leaves really range, with (of course) the really high quality teas being pricier (but oh are they good!). This is not my go-to place to stock up tea for every day drinking (can't quite afford that and some personal preferences), but it's a great treat for tea lovers to be able to access and experiment with a variety of Chinese teas. Definitely a fun experience, especially with friends!“

The sweetest owner patiently walked us through all the flavors and even brewed fresh samples 🥰 it felt like a mini tea adventure. Took home a bag of hojicha , and absolutely delicious! “The store is a bit small but there is ample seating outside. There is also a lot of great options. Both of my drinks were great and both the guy behind the cash register and the two people working the floor making the drinks were helpful and kind at all times. 10/10“

“Tiny little place serving up food well above its weight class! Really good food! The chef even came out to personally ask us how the food was. So nice! Really interesting decor too! I'd come back with my date! But the place is tiny, so if there's no seating inside, and it's too hot or cold to eat outside, take it to go! The food is worth giving a new home in your belly!“

“We got the beef & beef tendons& beef tripe with rice noodles mild spicy but honestly I ordered some chili paste to make it more spicy. We also got a side of Inoke mushrooms wrapped in beef were really good and it’s tasted so good if you put them in the broth of the beef soup. We also got the strawberry oolong tea drink and that made the food taste even better. The sweet lady who served us was helpful and nice. She even gave us water as we waited for our food. Seats are limited so first come first serve but dining in was a good experience. In total we spent 57$ for all of that.“

“My family and I frequent here quite often and every single time, the drinks were on point! Thai tea, Thai-chata, strawberry vortex, pineapple escape, milky way taro, polar pomegranate are just a few that I've tried and would recommend but everything including food is so good. Their customer service is also great! Always a pleasant experience for us. We've "cheated" and have gone to other boba places when traveling but it's not the same. Twisteas definitely has our loyalty!“

“The review was long overdue and wanted to get this as soon as realistically as possible but I have to say this institution of boba is one of the better ones in SGV! First and foremost, you get house made boba they make in house (which is rare). The owner does it herself from the front. 2nd I had a drink that was made too sweet. Unfortunately, I couldn't go back to exchange so I had to go the next day and well, I got offered for a replacement no issue from the owner. The front staff are always good to me and modifying drinks and taking care of boba business. Cheers to Tea Maru!“

I really enjoyed my winter melon lemon tea with aiyu jelly. I customized it with half ice and half sugar, and it turned out perfectly balanced. The tea had a subtle hint of winter melon, which was nice.

The matcha latte with aiyu jelly and red bean was equally satisfying. Opted for 30% sugar, and it struck just the right level of sweetness.

Both drinks were refreshing and well-crafted.

Also ordered the Yifang egg pancakes. The texture was great—the inside was slightly bouncy while the outside had a nice firmness to it. A tasty and fun addition to the afternoon tea.“
