Its troubling when a hostess is willing to impact your entire night over 1 chair. The food was amazing no doubt. However I would not recommend as the service level doesn't match the food level. There was absolutely no reason to not allow us to sit together. The table sat vacant for the entire night. She proved her point she was in charge. And because of it we couldn't have a solid evening of conversation as we had to sit at the bar and watch out table sit empty. 3 stars is...read full review

The food was great, as was the service.
It was too loud, I could barely hear the person sitting across from me when talking loudly. Combination of music being too loud so everyone else had to talk louder. Could have been the spot I was sitting in closer to speakers and kitchen.

Alteño was the first restaurant experience in a long time where I found myself just…smiling. Between bites, between courses, just being there. I’m not normally a fan of a loud restaurant — and Alteño is borderline boisterous — but we managed to settle in, have conversations, and thoroughly enjoy ourselves. (Note for us short folks: my feet touched the floor in the banquette!)
