50 Best Mexican Restaurants in Denver

“This place was really a nice little hole in the wall. I really enjoyed the selection of food and would like to try it again. Unfortunately, my Chili relleno smothered burrito was a little cold and our bill was messed up. It wasn’t really busy so I’m not sure why our service was slow but I had some good vibes and heard really good stuff about it. I will update when we try it again.”

“We sat at the patio it was cloudy and all the tables inside were taken. The servers and owner were very accommodating. They immediately reserved a table for our large group in case it rained and it did. Food was fast to come out and well made. The restaurant is small but very busy. The patio is pet friendly.”

“Taqueria La Familia in Denver is an absolute delight that has won me over with its mouthwatering Mexican dishes and authentic flavors. From the moment I stepped inside, I felt like a part of the familia, surrounded by the vibrant colors and cheerful atmosphere. Now, let's talk about the star of the show—the food. Taqueria La Familia's menu is a true celebration of Mexican cuisine, offering a wide variety of classic dishes that showcase the richness of the country's culinary heritage.”

“Definitely highly recommend D'Corazon. We had two dishes: the enchiladas plate and the carnitas. Both were full of flavor and maybe the best Mexican food we've had. We also had a house margarita and a Paloma. There is a reason they put a limit some of their drinks :) We got the opportunity to meet the owner, Eddie, who was very helpful, enthusiastic and happy to have us have lunch at his restaurant.”

“This place is amazing! Ambiance is 10/10 Food is flavorful and and delicious. They have homemade tortillas you can take home and sauces. They have great drinks and I forgot to take a picture of the burrito which was amazing. Service was 10/10 we had our pup with us and the owner gave him a treat which he loved very much”

“Absolutely LOVE Lisas place! Amazing food and such a great atmosphere...feels like family and friends. As if I'm always invited for family breakfast..will always be back and recommend!Kid-friendliness: They have great selections for children!”

“When I say that this is the best Mexican food i have had since coming to Colorado i mean it. I got an asada burrito and I tried both the red and green sauce with it. First, the meat, grilled to perfection, delicious and incredibly flavorful. The beans were creamy and exactly what I want for a burrito, binding it all together perfectly. There was no skimping on the cheese here! And I got mine with just cilantro instead of the onions and tomatoes too, but the cilantro was fresh and crispy and just the right amount of pop to bring everything together for me. The sauces were not needed to added flavor but the flavor they did add brought everything from a 10 to an 11! The red sauce isn't just good but it's actually hot and the green sauce is bright and tangy and I ended up mixing them and i have zero regrets about that what so ever. This is definitely my new food spot. I didn't take a single picture because I couldn't stop eating. I also want to mention that the customer service was fantastic. They were so nice and while the dining room wasn't massive it was clean and cute and I look forward to returning! 11 out of 10!!! Six gold stars!”

“This is a brunch review. We really like this place for food and drink. The food is solid. Their queso with all the salsas is always a go-to for us during the visit, and we rotate through the entrees. I had the Huevos Revueltos on my last visit, and it was good, and they let me sub in potatoes for the greens and beans. The food overall is a 4 for me, and hopefully they get some new recruits for dishes sometime soon. The reason I give it an overall 5 is because of the drink specials and staff. No matter who we get as a server or bartender, they bring obvious training with a great personality. They are all simply just fun, without losing focus on efficiency. Katie was our bartender last time, and she was fantastic. The other item is the drink special. It is one of those last remaining places with an affordable bottomless ($16) that also lets you rotate between Bloody Mary, Mimosas, and two types of Sangria. I hope they keep that special around...big selling point for wife and I. Highly recommend, and see you there.”

“This is absolute The best Mexican hamburger restaurant in Denver. The fries are always hot and salted properly. The burgers are stright up made with love and care. I have never been disappointed at this location. I've made it through about half their menu. And can't wait to see what the other half brings. Thank you, Don Jesus, and your crew!”

“Had the lamb soup. Good broth with spices, lots of lamb and chickpeas. Came with onion / cilantro, corn tortillas, red salsa that was spicy. All on the side.Service was friendly. Food was ready fairly fast.Parking: Only one sloped entrance in front of building.Wheelchair accessibility: There were 3 tables that were accessible, then 3 steps to get to more tables in the back.”

“I love that this restaurant is named after the one and only Maria Felix, La Doña. This was such a fun restaurant to eat at. It was exactly what my husband and I were looking for date night and it definitely passed the vibe check. From the Margaritas to the Molcajete and let’s not forget the fresh chips and salsa, all were on point! The Patio dining at night gave it such a great ambiance. The staff was attentive, friendly and fast. We definitely will be back our next Denver trip!”

4.7Superb194 Reviews

“Delicious, gigantic, comforting burritos! First time here and ordered the Asada smothered burrito, and it's outrageously good. Less than $14 out the door for something that I'll have to break up into two meals. I can't wait to try pretty much everything here.”

4.7Superb189 Reviews

“Best Mom and Pops Mexican restaurant! Been coming here since I was kid!Food has always been on point! Reasonably priced as well. Everything here is delicious.Definitely a staple of Northside of Denver. Always will be one of my favorite restaurants to come to.”

4.5Superb464 Reviews

“I have nothing but good things to say about this place. I love birria tacos, and these are some of the best I've ever had. I would absolutely suggest the goat. Much more rich flavor, and depth. While all are good, that one is the best. This place is a must-go if you like tacos”

4.7Superb174 Reviews

“This dive bar has gotten better over the years. They have a larger turf area that now has lots of seating and recently moved cornhole to another area. Having the boat in the middle of the restaurant was a great, fun concept. This place can get really busy during the weekends or when there are games on. However, the bartenders have always been great and Tico's Taco always serves delicious Mexican food. Another great thing is, they are really dog friendly and people bring their pups all the time to hang out outdoors.”

4.6Superb236 Reviews

“The BEST breakfast burritos I have had in Colorado! I am not sure what makes them so delicious, but they truly are! Exceptionally better than Santiago’s in my opinion. We have made this our Sunday breakfast as often as possible now! This place is always busy! Parking is a little complicated, as their parking lot is small and awkward. So be aware of that! The staff is so incredibly nice and they all work together quickly and efficiently. It’s a great local place you MUST try!”

4.7Superb134 Reviews

“Excellent food and extremely fast service. My first time here. I ordered the Birria taco quesadilla with the consommé and it was delicious, and very filling, I could only eat half of it! Little hole in the wall, but very clean and well kept.”

4.8Superb105 Reviews

“They are only open for lunch, but they have the most incredible food. Not only is there service great, but their mission is incredible. The food is absolutely delicious. There are 2 way to enter and you might walk through a garden, you’re not lost!Everyone should try this place and try something new.”

4.7Superb131 Reviews

“Los Cuates means friends and you are treated like that here, super friendly service and good food. I think it might be more of a take out place, the interior is functional but the lack of atmosphere is more than made up by the food. They also serve pupusas here, didn't try those but the green chile fries were awesome!”

4.8Superb103 Reviews

“Absolutely stunning mole. The salsa that comes with the chips to start the meal off was nice and spicy, with lots of chile flavour. I had a tamal oaxaqueño and my friend ordered enchiladas verses, both of which completely floored us. They have a huge selection of juices and aquas frescas, so it's a great place to go if you're not into alcohol. I will have to be back to try their carnitas and fried ice cream.”

4.5Superb253 Reviews

“The food was filling and felt on the traditional/approachable Mexican without too much spice. We enjoyed our lunch and couldn't possibly eat the entire portion of food that was given on our plates. Ambiance was chill inside, the place was hopping, patio looked nice for a weather appropriate day! :)Parking: In the heart of the city adjacent to the Brown Palace, I highly recommend valet for $12 for this location as parking is super limited.Dietary restrictions: As someone who does not eat dairy, options were a bit limited. Chicken tacos without cheese fit the bill.”

4.4Superb482 Reviews

“I came in and was so happy with the atmosphere, very clean place. The coffee is good and the food is good, and the customer service is good. I wish I would've taken a picture of my food, the breakfast burrito is so good. Will be back!Vegetarian options: They have vegetarian options on the menu and they looked good”

4.7Superb125 Reviews

“Not sure how they don't have a >5 star rating. The service was so friendly & didn't hover over our table, making it feel very relaxed & welcoming. Hands down the best chile relleno I've had here in the states. My new favorite spot for sure!! Already planning the next time we will be in!”

Food came out so fast! And as always, everything was perfect.Seriously have no complaints!I will say if you don’t like the music too loud you should sit in front of the restaurant or outside.”

“Came here to get the menudo, and it did not disappoint.I'm from Houston, and my gf is from Los Angeles. We both agree this is the best menudo we've ever eaten at a restaurant before. My gf is not use to being served toasted bread with soup, but that's how I know it was authentic.I just left full, and I'm regretting not ording another bowl to go for later.”

“We've been coming to this little spot for a few years now and i don't know why I haven't reviewed it!If you're looking for some great food, this is your spot. I've only ever had breakfast burritos but not one time have I been disappointed. This last visit I changed it up a bit and got a smothered burrito and it was delicious.Great food, fair pricing, friendly people. ?”

“My sister came in for a visit and wanted to go to this tik tok famous cafe. The food was quite good as was the service. It is in a small strip mall - nice decor - but basic. The big draw is the huge conchas (sweet bread) that they serve with hot chocolate that comes in a supersized mug. Also the coffee lattes have fun designs. We had- Azteca burrito, chilaquiles, pancakes and chorizo and eggs. All were tasty. We had a 30Minute wait for a table on a Friday at 11am. Popular fun spot.”

4.6Superb153 Reviews

“Try all 4 of the sauces! It's worth it. Also try mixing them all together. Great atmosphere. Friendly service from Haley who recommended I get a taste of all 4 sauces. If I hadn't done this, my review would have been "fine" ?”

4.4Superb379 Reviews

“Overall food, service and atmosphere were awesome! We really had such quick service and the food I got was phenomenal! I would definitely come back here when I'm in Denver. I love Mexican food and everything I ate here was delicious! I got the beef enchiladas and I was super happy with them. Looking forward to next time!”

“These guys serve restaurant quality food at blue collar prices. Chorizo, egg, and potato burrito is the #1 go to. Piping hot and fresh every time. Their quac and salsa… absolutely delicious with the right amount of kick. If you’re on the area stop by!”

“Food was freshly prepared. Very clean and roomy inside with updated everything! Friendly staff!! I enjoyed the authentic music too. Don't let the neighborhood put you off.Parking: I parked across 51st street in an open under-used lot next to the gas station.”

“Hands down, best Mexican food we've had in Denver - great chips and fresh salsa, great service, we had the mushroom enchiladas & the shrimp huaraches, both amazing. We're already plotting our next trip back and can't wait to make our way through the menu in the weeks and months to come. We've been to Mexico City multiple times in the past year and Kahlo's would hold up there as well, where the food scene is one of the best in the world. Oh, and don't forget an apres stop across the street for some sipping chocolate at Cultura Chocolate!”

4.5Superb197 Reviews

“My main place now especially for work lunch. They have burrito specials of the week $2.50 burritos during happy hour and fair prices on all! I literally got four burritos ham and egg breakfast burrito for me and my coworker and two Mexican Cokes for $15 and I plan to stop there today cuz I think it's time for another burrito and I want to try one of their alcohol mixers they got very Unique Blends I've never seen before anywhere even at bars and it's a fair price of like $7-$9. The only reason I gave a four-star on the service is because they don't have enough servers or waitresses to meet their demand of customers with the amount of space in the place. Otherwise very good service very friendly and on pointWheelchair accessibility: Concrete ramp to front door.”

4.5Superb193 Reviews

“Coming from out of town and wanted to try green chili. Santiago’s was recommended to me. This location appears to be pick up only. I ordered green chili and carnitas flautas. The food was prepared relatively quickly and service was good. Both dishes were solid although I can’t say there was anything that elevated them beyond my expectations. I would recommend for an enjoyable weeknight takeaway dinner.”

4.4Superb312 Reviews

“The tacos here are legit the best in the city without a doubt. The fish n beer, asada and the spicy tuna are the shining stars in my book! Mad love for this chill spot serving up incredible flavor! They double stack the tortillas which quickly transforms one very full taco into two medium size tacos and it's absolute perfection. Please pardon the partially consumed taco on my plate in the photo. I could not wait to dive in!!”

4.4Superb305 Reviews

“Best Taco truck ever, food is absolutely amazing and delicious, staff is friendly, atmosphere is always nice with good Spanish music, and the food flies off the grill quick, there's never a wait longer than 20 minutes even when its really full.Parking: They're literally located in a parking lot and it's always full but always easy to find parking.Wheelchair accessibility: It's all in a parking lot easily accessible to wheelchairs.”

“We're doing a tour of Mexican/Latin American bakeries in Denver and were told that Rosales was a must for our list and so it is! Colorful cookies and really tasty baked goods. Our featured sample was the tres leches cake. Made Mexican style, with a yellow sheet cake as the base, the flavor and texture was excellent and fresh strawberries added an excellent touch. Located in the near west side of Denver , Rosales is easy to get to and worth the drive if you're coming from the burbs.”

4.5Superb170 Reviews

“I love getting the tacos and the best part is you can order a pound of taco meat for pickup with all the fixings so you can easily have an awesome taco party. You get five salsas when eating at the restaurant (I think 4 for takeout) and they are delicious but two are super spicy. ? I'm visited or picked up food from this shop about 10 times and I'm always happy with the service and food.”

4.4Superb262 Reviews

“Love this place. One of the best in Denver, for sure. The drinks are good. The pozole is good. The tacos are freaking amazing. It's a really chill place and they have lots of specials during the week. Legit one of the best restaurants in Denver, at least downtown.”

“I'm leaving my first review and making a second one. Today the service was excellent (same person I think), the salsa was thicker but wish it had more of a kick and the food was good.Food was pretty good except for the watery bland salsa. She was busy but it took 35 minutes to get my food and she waited on a table that came in after me first. They got their food almost ten minutes before me.”

4.5Superb139 Reviews

“Really great sandwiches! Would like to try other items they have like the tacos, but the tortas are delicious! I do the build your own, chicken steak cheese or chicken chorizo and cheese. Also had a steak quesadilla, the cheese was so delicious and nice cuts of steaks. Would recommend!”

“Upon arriving after a lengthy flight and receiving a recommendation from my Airbnb host, we found ourselves at this establishment. It was everything I had anticipated: a place for tacos and tequila! Luckily, we stumbled upon their happy hour, which was fantastic. I must emphasize the steak quesadilla as a highly recommended choice.”
