“A friend who frequently travels to Denver raved about this restaurant, so I was eager to experience it for myself. Upon arrival for brunch, My other friend and I received a warm welcome and prompt seating. Our waitress Erika and her assistant were exceptionally kind and attentive. The food was a true culinary delight . I can’t recommend Rioja enough!“

“omg we absolutely loved everything! we tried various items since it was our first time. the staff was so wonderful and very helpful with any questions. the hummus is the best!! My favorite hummus now. the portions are a great size on the entrees and everything is seasoned to perfection! even the lentil soup....I had no idea lentil soup could be that good. this place deserves to be way more packed than it is. it looks worn on the outside but the food is too good to not keep going back. 10/10 I definitely recommend!“

“Definitely a must try!!!!!!!!!!!! Very authentic mediterranean food with amazing fresh food! The quality is amazing, the owners/staff are so pleasant and helpful! This is definitely a hidden gem! I had never had a gyro with a tortilla but it was amazing! The baklava is also perfect as well! We will definitely be returning! 10/10!!“

“I waited here while my car was being serviced, really enjoyed my time at this cafe. There is a variety of seating available, you can come with a group or just one friend. The counter is self serve so you don’t have to wait for someone to take your order. The breakfast burrito was quite delightful, came with a slice of watermelon as well. Very kind staff members were available and very helpful. Good baklava as well.“

“Saturday night takeout sharing the Meat lovers platter with a side of stuffed grape leaves. The kabobs were beautifully done, and not overdone. We’ve been to Turkey before and this place is legit- right down to the silky hummus and quiet pickled veggies scattered throughout the yellow rice.“

“I enjoyed half of the chicken kabob plate, because it is a lot of delicious food. I will enjoy the other half later. Everything was perfect, well presented, and packaged. This was my first time and look forward to trying other items! YUM!!!“

“Interesting concept restaurant - I’d describe it as Chipotle but Mediterranean food. There are some ‘curated’ bowls and salads if you don’t want to pick your own meat/veggies and accomplishments to make a pita sandwich or bowl. Nice selection of different drinks including a cucumber mint that was really tasty add to the nice strong plain ice tea. About $20 though for a salad bowl and drink. Lots of options, many vegetarian. I like that there were lentils as well as rice for a starch and the sauces and toppings were fresh and good. Pita chips were extra- it would be nice if one or two were provided for salads. It’s very busy starting at about 11:30 and it’s not many tables. Most people seem to do take out.“

“Holy bananas - soooo I moved to Denver after 12 years in Chicago so I’ve been spoiled with good food for a long time. That being said, Denver has disappointed me in terms of killer cuisine no matter how cheap or how expensive - I’ve had a mid experience everywhere no matter the neighborhood.
First time today at Sonny’s and WOW. Huge falafel sammie, smokey baba ghanoush, so many freaking amazing sauces!
10/10 will be returning“

“I didnt look at what the place would look like before coming. But as soon as I saw it in person, I knew the food was gonna be bomb. I was right. I got a spicy gyro sandwich with tzaziki and it was excellent! On top of this, the prices were excellent“
