“This place was a real hole in the wall. Just spent a great week fishing at the Navajo Dam, on the return trip stopped in here on the way back for a quick lunch. Called ahead 15 minutes and they easily fulfilled my order on time. The Stuffed Sopapilla and my friend got the patty melt. Both are incredible! Thank you Val’s!“

“Had breakfast here on a cold November morning. I was early, before their opening time at 0700. But, the door was unlocked, and some local senior gentlemen were at a large table near the kitchen, enjoying coffee, left over sopapillas, and conversation. All locals, they welcomed me, and informed me that the place wasn't open yet, but I could have coffee until the waitress and cook came in at 0700. I sat at a window table, and one of the men brought a cup of coffee, menu and creamers to me. After about 10 minutes, the waitress came in and took my order. She was very pleasant and efficient, and got my order right the first time. I had the Huevos Rancheros. Two over medium eggs on lightly cooked corn tortillas, smothered half in green chili, and half in red chili., or as they say here, and in Norther New Mexico, "Christmas". The plate was completed with whole pinto beans in their natural liquor, and fried "papas" or potatoes in English, and a fresh, homemade tortilla. Despite the name of the place, authentic Norteno Mexican food is definitely their specialty, and they do it right. They do have the normal American fare of bacon and eggs, pancakes, waffles, omelets, etc. Their breakfast burrito was a massive chili smothered dish to behold, as my neighboring table ordered. The eggs were cooked perfectly, the chili was some of the best I have ever eaten, and the tortilla was plump, soft, and flavorful. The price was right, and "Melissa" provided excellent service. I have nothing bad to say about the Dutch Mill, and would eat there again.“
