“We were recommended this place by an acquaintance. We booked a table for tonights dinner days in advance, which was nice. The service was impeccable thanks to Pablo. He did an amazing job and his service alone makes me want to come back. Then when you add the food to the equation, (chef's kiss)! “Gargaro’s is an awesome no frills old school Italian bakery and sandwich shop. The sub sandwiches are huge, especially for the price. If you get the grinder be sure to add capicola for a little extra! All of the breads, pastries and cookies are amazing. They also have an assortment of freshly made pastas, sauce, sausage, pizza dough, sausage and pepper cannolis, cream filled cannolis. This place is legit!“

“I was in Lakewood for a visit, saw the sign and thought, "I wonder if that's the same place that we practically lived in, 48 years ago? " I was expecting our son, and their spaghetti & meatballs was the only thing that I consistently craved. Much to my delight, it is!! Fabulous salad, complete with the shredded provolone and truly perfect bread. But the moment I had the pasta, it brought me right back! The sauce is still rich, so flavorful and the traditional thick, yet tender noodles make it near perfect! Also, the same generous portions. “If you have not been here, but you are aware of it, you absolutely need to go. And then you need to let yourself grieve for however many years you missed. This is my favorite Italian in the Denver city area. I nearly always get the Pollo Elegante. It's thinly sliced Chicken in a Marsala Cream Sauce, with a splash of Cognac. *Chef's Kiss* And I always order a plate of Penne Vodka and put it in the middle of the table, for everyone dining with me, to enjoy as well. You have not had better. Try the Tortellini alla Panna, it's perfection as well.“

“I went for lunch and dessert today for the first time. It was busy, and hard to figure out where the line was going. My sausage calzone was very good, although my leftovers were better once I popped them in my toaster oven and got it hotter and the bread crisp than it was when it was served. The desserts were fantastic! I tried the mini pistachio cannoli, pistachio cookies, almond and pine nut amaretti cookies too--all fabulous! The desserts are widely varied...I wanted everything!! But it is expensive: my 6 cookies and 2 mini cannolis were just under $20. Ouch. But I know these kinds of things are a lot of work to bake, so I guess that's why. I hope to get there again sometime, though it's far from my area.“

“Fantastic, local Italian deli and sandwich shop that has been around for generations. They make basically everything homemade, from the sausage to the sauce to the raviolis, all of which are fantastic. It is truly a local spot too, run by just a few people who make truly traditional Italian dishes, both fresh and able to be taken home to be reheated. Also, the large sandwiches are LARGE, so be sure to be willing to share or save for leftovers if you get the large.“

“I specifically went searching for this restaurant because I used to work at dtc in the same build this restaurant used to be in and I remember they had the most amazing pastrami sandwich I’ve ever had. It turned out that they close the restaurant that was in dtc but they kept the restaurant that was on the complete opposite side of town from dtc. I went to try to order my pastrami sandwich again and to my surprise they stopped making it. I wish they bring it back, because I would drive an hour there and back for that sandwich. It was that good. Oh btw I never left a review this long or passionate about food“

“We had a wonderful waiter, I wish I'd got his name. Four adults and a child and we all thought the food was amazing. We started with huge homemade rolls and a lovely salad. We actually all had vegetarian entrees. My Eggplant Parmesan was the very best I've had! Highly recommend JJ Madwell's and will definitely eat here again!“

They definitely have huge portions I couldn't come near finishing the app, the salad was full of veggies and the pizza was beyond awesome.
