“Here is another first visit for us, Hornets Nest Deli in Branford. While driving from East Haven through Branford we came upon the Hornets Nest Deli. The parking which is more than adequate was loaded with vehicles at 1:10P.M. thats a good sign for me. So we stopped in, first impression everyone knows everyone, lots of conversations going on very clean and lots of seating. Then you look over to the side wall and see the menu, yikes , many options available panini, sub, sandwiches and wraps, not to mention a very large choice of salads. we settled on splitting a #21 sub, grilled chicken with avocado, bacon lettuce and tomato with a balsamic vinaigrette. PERFECT, fresh bread chicken done just right a great sub. Great menu, great food, great service and a friendly staff, what more could you ask for.“
“A must try for seafood on the shoreline! There's a reason this place has been a go to for both locals and visitors for a very long time. The boat bar in the summer is a great spot for drinks and apps. The popcorn shrimp is a must try! And don't forget dessert at the dairy bar“
“Nestled away from North Main Street is this hidden gem of Italian food. Their marinara sauce is delicious and their portions are just right. It can be a little noisy but it's a good dinner spot for the area ( even if it may take a minute to find parking don't let that deter you.)Parking: Not a lot of parking but worth the effort.“
“My visits have been quite frequent lately, as I have been impressed by the great atmosphere and the impeccable service provided by our server, Brianna. She is truly amazing - always pleasant and willing to make things right if they happen to be amiss. Moreover, the food at Homes is simply amazing! I highly recommend that you give it a try. They also offer a gluten-free menu, which is a great option for those with dietary restrictions. I believe you would enjoy dining at Homes as much as I have.“
“Yesterday my wife and I had the pleasure of finding a new, to us, go to place. We were attending a Drag show that a friend of ours was a part of and we didn't know what to expect from a restaurant in and old gas station. Well hang onto your hats folks because you are in for a great experience. Jo, the manager has got to be the sweetest thing on this earth since sugar cane. She kept everything moving smoothly while having a constant smile. Kevin, our server, should give classes in how to be a waiter. Attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and again, smiling all the time. All that is well and good but how about the food? I ordered the "Hail Mary" bloody mary. On another day this could have served as my lunch. It is topped with the most delicious hamburg slider, with a side of a perfectly cooked bacon slice and two grilled shrimp. The taste of the burger had me looking for the charcoal grille. So, the presentation was great but the taste of the drink surpassed the look. I highly suggest you give it a try. I ordered the Valdese Burger for breakfast, Another perfectly cooked burger, topped with and egg and hollandaise with a side of a ton of tater tots, yes, tater tots. The waffle my wife had was cooked perfectly and she said the taste was outstanding. We live an hour and a half away, it is worth the trip. She also said, the coffee could make or break a good meal, well, this coffee just added to the overall excellence of the meal. The place was noisy which was to be expected due to the show being presented, Noisy, but, oh so much fun. The place is great. Make it a part of your "places to try" this summer. You will thank me.“
“Their vegan options are plentiful, and every dish we had was delicious. We had the Vegan crab cakes, and the Vegan layer dip. The previous time we had the Vegan burger and Vegan tacos, which were delicious also. Staff are courteous and attentive. The view from the restaurant is nice, and the decor/atmosphere is spot on! Highly recommend!Vegetarian options: Great vegan selection“
“Came here for the first time after living in the area for 30 years. It was a fundraiser and was pleasantly surprised how good the food was. This is a local establishment that has many loyal customers, especially during Saint Patrick. They had eggplant rotini , it was delicious. They also had stuffed mushrooms. That were very good. They also had two versions of stuff, potato skins, and breaded fried fried chicken. They were good. Nice small local place to gather and eat good bar food.“
“Fabulous experience! There were four of us and all our meals were excellent! I have to give the shout out for our waiter, Dylan. He was SUPERB! Anyone that eats out alot knows the wait person can make or break a meal--they don't come back, they check barely once, they don't care--not Dylan. He had the nicest disposition and energy right from the start. He had excellent food recco's, answered any questions and offered any food modifications if necessary. He checked on us just enough to show he was paying attention, yet not interrupting. While all our meals were excellent (Mexican Grilled Chicken Bowl, Ahi Tuna and Steak), dessert put it over the top. I had the Butter Toffee Cake. This dessert was as good as famous desserts from a well-known restaurant in Massachusetts--the Publik House. I am already planning on going back to Eli's--and definitely will ask to be in Dylan's section! Tonight's meal and experience were fantastic. Ty Eli's!“
“The service has always been great, food is delicious and is served quickly and always fresh. It's not a 5 star restaurant hence the 4, however, I have never been disappointed. To say 5 stars it would have to be more upscale. Atmosphere... it's a diner and is as good as it gets. Again, nothing bad.“
“Great family restaurant. It is my favorite diner in CT. Great service, food, people and clean.Vegetarian options: The NancyDietary restrictions: They have a healthy section unheard of in most establishments. They are conscious of the obesity epidemic which I appreciate.“
“Our first time here and it will be a staple for us. Absolutely amazing. I had the Chicken Italiano with chicken, prosciutto, balsamic glaze and bruschetta~the flavor combination is outstanding. He had the ahi tuna, fried shrimp & fried steak tacos. The tuna was so fresh, the shrimp was amazing as well as the steak. Highly recommend this place.“
“This place has AMAZINGLY GOOD Cobb Salad. Some of the best salad I’ve ever tasted. Always the freshest ingredients. Huge portion size. Tastes like a healthy dream in your mouth—something that would make your fitness trainer proud of you. This restaurant helped me discover an appreciation and love for salads! Thank you. Try the honey vinaigrette!“
