“My favorite restaurant in New Haven. It's pricey but worth it. The Braised Pork Belly is AMAZING and literally falls apart with your chop sticks, that's how soft it is. I've literally had friends drink the sauce after eating that pork belly. It's so good

“4.5 / 5.0 - I’d been to the Loop for Japanese groceries and sweets, but this was my first time trying their brunch, which they have on weekends, along with their lunch menu.

They have cafeteria style seating and you order and pick up your food at the counter. It’s quite spacious with large picnic tables and bar seating, but it was almost full when we went past noon yesterday.

It took time to order and get our food, so if you’re in a rush, it may be better to pick up pre-made lunches or sushi from the grocery store instead.

I tried the Open Tamago Sando, which was so delicious I will definitely have to order again. The noodles didn’t have much broth or toppings, so maybe not the best option if you’re looking for something that’s not mostly carbs.

“Came here for the first time and honestly loved it. I do not remember our server’s name but he was amazing and made the experience even better. The atmosphere was great and had a really fun and comfortable vibe.

The bun appetizers were an awesome way to start. The pork belly bun was easily the best one. I also tried the Korean fried chicken bun with gochujang, daikon carrots, and kewpie, but it did not come close to the pork belly. The pork belly with hoisin, pickled daikon carrots, and kewpie was incredible.

The red oil dumplings were awesome. I loved the sauce and the garnishes. It leaned a little more on the vinegar side but in a way I really enjoyed.

The ramen Tonkotsu 3.0 was very tasty with a lot of depth in the broth.

The pho was more of a southern style pho, slightly sweeter, but you can really taste how long the broth has been simmering. I love tendon and tripe and while they only had tripe available to add, it was still very good.

Overall the food, service, and atmosphere were all on point. I will definitely be back to try more items on the menu.“

“The food was excellent. I ordered the teriyaki chicken with all vegetables plus additional vegetables. I ordered two one with shrimp I did not realize all vegetables was just cabbage and the additional stem vegetables was broccoli. They have a small order of sautéed vegetables realizing I should have ordered that instead and the second ordered had no shrimp. I ordered through grubhub because I was at work. I have eaten inside many times first time ordering through grubhub.“

“Its sad that Rock Fish is takeout only now. It remains outstanding and fairly priced, but they really had the best omakase around with steep competition. I don’t think you can beat it for take out sushi. Find me another place that gives you real wasabi for instance. My go to spot when I’m craving some comfort food.“

“Normally the service and food is phenomenal! I’ve been coming to Kumo for about 20 years now I’ve never had anything less than A plus service and meals before today. The drinks were forgotten and had to be asked for we didn’t receive them until we were finished with our appetizers. We were missing a place setting that also had to be requested a second time. The chef mistakenly started to cook seafood before the beef and poultry and we had a seafood allergy at our table. The food was poorly seasoned and poorly cooked. My shrimp were not clean they still had poop in them. Tonight was very disappointing!“
