Villa Lulu Reviews
I ate there with a friend here
last night and the food was amazing! We chose the tapa menu so that we could sample different dishes. It is so convenient to walk across the street to the Shubert Theater.
I give Villa Lulu a solid 4, bordering on 5, but I'm so fussy, it's probably a 5. I save 5's for something so amazing I just can't describe it. After a brief snafu with who our waiter was, the staff was super accomodating with everything. They kept their promise to get us to the show on time. So, service ended up a 5 but started as a 2 or 3. Food, we had a variety of salads and appetizers, two main courses for 4 of us. All were very good., to excellent Atmosphere, 4, and I only...read full review
I will start off by saying the food was very good! Broccoli rabe could use some salt but the spicy rigatoni was great. This is where my good will ends. I had one of the worst service experiences of my life.

Villa Lulu offers a pleasant dining experience with good food and service. The risotto stands out, while the chicken picatta and asparagus are just okay. The brunch, priced reasonably, features tasty dishes and a nice atmosphere. The overall atmosphere and lighting of the restaurant are very nice, especially with Italian music in the background. The dish "Zuppa di pesce" was extraordinary, with flavors that are dangerously addictive. The servers are respectful and kind, providing friendly and efficient service. The restaurant shows a vast variety of tasty food, and portions are large enough for a 15-year-old male athlete's appetite. The scallops with polenta and lobster bisque are highly recommended and will likely be ordered again. Villa Lulu is a gem, a perfect New Haven spot for special occasions and a favorite at any time. The waitstaff are always friendly and attentive, and the food is fantastic. The cocktail menu is also impressive. It is a sister restaurant to Pacifico, both of which are top-notch and just doors from each other.
