“Zaytoon Lebanese Restaurant in West Hartford with Ty. My first experience with Turkish coffee and it was superb. It's strong just like New Orleans coffee and Right up my alley. Our server was attentive, courteous, and efficient. He had a smile and a pleasant personality and was very helpful with the ordering. The food was hot and delicious. The lamb was a gift from the Greek gods. It was tender and seasoned and most flavorful with no gamey aftertaste. Everything you would want from a Mediterranean/Lebanese restaurant.“

“Parsley in Middletown is a go-to for fresh, flavorful Mediterranean food. From crispy falafel and juicy shawarma to vibrant salads and homemade sauces, every bite is satisfying and made with care. The Family Mixed Grill is a highlight—perfect for sharing, it comes piled with tender shish kebab, chicken and lamb kebabs, and perfectly grilled lamb chops. Generous portions and bold seasoning make it a must-try. Don’t skip dessert—the homemade kunafa is warm, gooey, and deliciously crisp. Pair it with their baklava or ma’amoul cookies for a sweet finish. For a more relaxed experience, head to the cozy second-floor dining room—great for enjoying your meal in a quieter setting. Friendly service and consistently great food make Parsley a true gem on Main Street.“

“Last week, while I was in London for work, I stopped by Shah’s Halal Food. I usually avoid fast food or shawarma spots because of my strict diet, but I chose this place for two reasons: they serve halal food, and during a snowstorm it was the closest option available. I’m really glad I did it turned out to be a great experience. I ordered the Chicken Salad Bowl with grilled chicken chunks, cucumbers, lettuce, chickpeas, hummus, and a variety of flavorful sauces. It was perfect for my no-carb diet and everything was fresh, tasty, and very satisfying. I’d definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for a halal, nutritious, and budget-friendly meal. The staff were also incredibly polite and welcoming.“

“I had to run some errands in Plainville last night and by the time we finished, nobody felt like cooking. So I did what any tired mom of three would do and searched “quick dinner near me.” And wow… I am SO glad I did. We ended up at Mykonos Express and let me tell you, it is absolutely worth the 20–30 minute drive from Canton. We ordered the grilled platter to share with lemon potatoes and a side of fries. My family of FIVE ate until we were stuffed… and we still have leftovers. That alone deserves a standing ovation. The food was fresh, flavorful, and tasted homemade in the best way. The owner actually came out to check on us and then surprised us with rice pudding on the house. It was delicious and such a kind touch. You can really feel that it’s a small, family-run business that cares. Also, can we talk about cleanliness? The place was spotless. Even the restroom was super clean, which always says a lot to me. The lamb chops were incredible, the gyros were packed and flavorful, and I have to say… I usually make tzatziki from scratch at home and I’m picky about it. Theirs tasted like homemade. So, so good. And my three-year-old devoured the chicken souvlaki, which is basically the highest review possible. My husband said he’d go back tomorrow 😅 and honestly, I wouldn’t argue. If you’re in the Plainville area, or even if you’re a little further out and willing to make the drive, I highly recommend Mykonos Express. Fresh, generous portions, warm hospitality, and food that is truly worth it.“

“I ordered the catering appetizer platter, pita and a side of grilled veggies for take out for a party. There was more than enough for the 20 guests and Everyone raved about the food. I loved that they called me the day before to confirm pick up and everything was ready to go when I arrived. They helped me carry platters into the car. The food is exceptional and the owners are really thoughtful. I've ordered single meals and it's just as good, but do try also for your next gathering. You, and your guests, will be glad you did!“

“I'm so glad my boyfriend made me go here. I thought it would be just like any walk in restaurant with mediocre food but I was so wrong! I’m an extremely picky eater and absolutely loved everything we got. This is also the first place I’ve been in a long time that actually had good salmon. They’re homemade dressing and marinate is so unique we went back in to buy a bottle after trying it with the complimentary salad we were given. 10/10 would go again!“

“Excellent fresh food and excellent fast service. The Turkish coffee was perfection, as was the falafel sandwich. I brought home all sorts of groceries and snacks. The overstuffed pistachio baklava was out of this world-best I ever had.“

“It's hard to believe such incredible Mediterranean food comes from a food hall. It is genuinely worthy of a high end restaurant. The portions are very generous, especially for such great prices. The service is also excellent - attentive, friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be making this a must-stop for any Parkville visit!“

“Absolutely amazing! Didn’t take any pictures because the food looked so good and we started eating right away. We LOVED it and cannot wait to come back and try again. The service is great. The restaurant is casual but really beautifully decorated. Amazing halal spot!“

“The food is delicious. The restaurant is clean and the staff are very nice. The seating feels like being in a living room of a home in Middle East, cozy and welcoming. I just think that it would be best if the tables were a little higher and if they turn the TV on or play some music to break the silence because it doesn't feel like you can have private talk when it's dead silence. I suggest something like a soft music may be with a show of Middle East paysage.“

“There’s something about Main Street in Middletown that I really enjoy. On any given day it has this eclectic, culturally diverse vibe that makes it feel alive. Tibetan restaurants. Vegan spots. Italian. Mexican. Coffee shops and pastry counters.
On this particular day the sun was out, the sidewalks were busy, and people from all walks of life were strolling the street. It’s the kind of place where you can just sit for a bit, soak it all in, and watch the world go by.
Today we decided to stop into a new place: Middletown Halal Grill & Pizza.
We tried two pies: a classic cheese and a Philly cheesesteak pizza.
Both were excellent.
Everything started with a really flavorful crust. Nice balance of crisp on the outside with just the right amount of chew inside. The sauce was well balanced too. Not overly sweet, not acidic, just a nicely seasoned tomato sauce that let the other flavors shine.
The cheese pizza was simple and well executed. Cheese evenly distributed and melted perfectly, giving that smooth, creamy texture you want in a good slice.
The Philly pizza used the same base and added shaved steak, peppers, and onions. Great combination. No single ingredient trying to steal the show. Everything worked together.
They also offered a side of house-made tzatziki sauce for the Philly.
Now I know what you’re thinking… putting a cold white sauce on hot pizza can get you some funny looks. But trust me on this one. It worked. The tzatziki was made in-house, light, refreshing, and added a cool contrast to the rich steak and cheese.
Bonus points: the dough is made fresh daily.
The place itself is a cool little spot. Nothing fancy. Very unassuming. But sometimes those are the best places. A perfect stop to grab a pie, sit for a bit, people watch on Main Street, or catch up with friends over good food.
The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, which always makes the experience better.
They offer a variety of other items too, wings, grinders, and more. Everything on the menu is Halal, meaning no pork. And honestly, that’s fine by me. This time I stuck with the pizzas, but next time I’m definitely going to try some of their Halal meats.
Solid pizza. Friendly people. Great Main Street vibe.
I’ll definitely be back“

“You can't easily eat out for less than $20 unless you're getting franchise fast food. This is the main exception I've found so far. You can get a plate of tasty Mediterranean chicken, rice, vegetables, and sauce for 10 dollars flat. It's pretty good quality too. Just make sure to bring cash, because they don't take card. That's llikely how they keep the price so low.“
