“Lobster tacos were a fun twist on the lobster roll. They were amazing. We also had the lobster nachos. This place isn't shy about giving you a nice portion of lobster. You'll have to forgive the missing taco as I shoved it in my face before thinking to take a “

“I feel like a lot of people don’t know that there really is an embarrassment of riches of restaurants in New Haven County. If you love good food all you have to do is look around here. Dad is the one who made the reservation at Fair Haven Oyster Club (I’m pretty sure you must make a reservation, the spot is small and if the weather is bad the only seating is the bar and a row of two tops behind the bar). I looked up the menu and it looked pretty SPECTACULAR. Reminder: I don’t eat beef, pork or poultry. Lots of times my choices are somewhat limited when we dine out, not at Fair Haven. WOW. Now, if you don’t eat seafood I’m pretty sure you’re out of luck. I don’t think there was anything vegetarian, let alone vegan. Note: Dad reserved “in the bar” on Resy. Turns out that is stools AT the bar. “Dining room” is the two tops that are right behind the bar. So choose wisely. Outdoor seating I think is weather dependent and we got the most spectacular evening last night. We arrived very early for our reservation because we were out and about anyway and it worked out because they sat us out on the deck overlooking the water and the boats. Hands Down now of the very best settings I have ever dined in (and I have dined all over this country and world). Weather was perfection, beautiful blue sky, big, fluffy clouds;s tide was going out, water was crystal clear; across the Quinnipiac River you could see old homes and an old church; off in the distance I could see the cars and trucks on 91. I LOVED THAT. I was a little worried when they gave us tiny water glasses. I drink water. Plenty of it. But they kept those little glasses full. Which is no mean feat when the place just got progressively busier and also, keeping water glasses filled is a common “weak point” when I eat out. The service here was ON POINT. While Dad was griping about the QR code menu I ordered a Hendrick’s and Tonic. Just because they looked like their cocktail game was strong. FYI, most places make terrible, undrinkable gin and tonics. Not Fair Haven Oyster Club! They served me the perfect G&T, even in the correct highball glass (!!) with super fizzy tonic water (!!!). That G&T set the tone for the rest of the meal…knocked directly out of the park. The menu is broken into Raw (they have an impressive oyster selection and caviar service, if that’s your thing), soups and salads, small plates and large plates. My plan was to eat my way through salads and small plates. I did order Scallop Crudo (olive oil, lemon, salt, herbs) and Tuna Crudo (over foie gras mousse on a brioche cracker) for the table. But then I ate them… Dad ordered Gildas to share (tiny skewers of anchovies, piparra peppers, castelvetrano olives & Mahon cheese). Super fun bar type snack. Things I ate: Fair Haven Clam Chowder. Which really tasted like a very good escarole (it was actually kelp) soup with clams. Baby Butter Lettuces (w/fried oysters, green goddess, bonito). This is EVERYTHING a salad should be. Delicious, filling, fresh, UMAMI. The fried oysters make it a legit meal. Heirloom Tomatoes (w/bottarga): beautiful, delicious tomatoes served in the most Umami-forward way possible. Uni Toast (w/ white shoyu, sesame & chive). I eat A LOT of Uni. Because I eat A LOT of Omakase and Kaiseki in NYC. So, for me? There are better ways to savor Uni. But, again! UMAMI BOMB. And I am always here for the Umami. Mom and Dad ordered the Grilled Black Cod (over cucumber & snap pea salad w/ kelp ponzu & shiso). SNAPS to them for stretching outside their culinary comfort zones after I explained o them that Black Cod is one of the most delicious fish out there and ponzu us right up their alley! This dish is just glorious: Perfectly grilled fish adrift in a sea of incredibly fresh and delicious vegetables. The snap of those snap peas was perfection. For dessert we ordered Vanilla Bean Cheesecake with honey fennel pollen & wild fennel. I. LOVE. Fennel and will eat it in any form. This really did not taste of fennel. But! This was one of the best cheesecakes I’ve ever h“
“Recently checked in as I heard a lot of good feedback about Southern Dishes, and I was not disappointed! Food was on point with all the flavor. The yams weren't to sweet and the Mac n cheese was was hitting my soul. Only small let down, the person who took my order put me down for the chopped BBQ but I wanted the ribs. Now I have a valid excuse to eat there again lol. If you choose to order inside, take a peek at them ribs and then you'll know why I MUST go back lol.“
“Fabulous place! Unbelievable food and crafter drinks, I have tried many of them from the cocktails list and they all are just delicious! Wonderful atmosphere, smooth music and the owners never miss the opportunity to stop buy your table and say friendly hello. Now the food, just exceptional (!) always fresh and creative, new items added to the menu. Love the tapas, small dishes that allow to try the culinary talents of the chef. Donnie will great you his wonderful friendly way and Gianna will do her magic to make you feel well taken care of. Thank you for wonderful experience every time we visit.“
“My family used to come to supreme seafood almost every Friday for dinner when I was younger. Ralph and Vinny knew my parents names and my name. Went back for the first time since the new owners took over and was happy to see that the food taste/quality and quantity was the same as I remembered it. Will definitely be back.“
“I’ve eaten from D’Amato’s for as long as I can remember. Food is delicious and service is wonderful from their very beginning until today. Now some many many years later and I’ve moved away to SC, and on my return which is at lease 3-4 times a year, I make it my business to visit them every time I’m here. Til next time.“
“Super-clean diner with easy on-off access to the major highways in Meriden. Got a special omelette with ham & tomato mixed into the fresh eggs, mozzarella inside. Delicious! Plentiful home fries fresh off the griddle slightly browned. Toast perfect and coffee really good. Clean bathroom. Very reasonable prices. Check them out you'll be very happy you did!“
“I really don’t post reviews but this food was soooo good I have to. I’m a woman raised by a Southern Belle who cooked, catered and was well-known in the food arena. I had fried chicken, collard greens and potato salad. Closest meal I’ve ever had to my mother’s cooking. So well cooked. Thank you for a wonderful Sunday dinner. Hats off to the Chef! We will be back. #lifetimecustomer“
“The food and service are amazing. The portion sizes are large and you will have enough to take home. Throughly enjoyed myMushroom risotto, My husband had the skirt steak and my daughter had the Meatloaf. MyYounger daughter had the crab cake appetizer for a main dish and said it was very good. There was s complimentary cheese board with olives, excellent! Every dish was flavorful. The drinks were just as good. I had a cosmo and it was on par. Definitely recommended. The lemon cello cake was also so good. I took it to go and ate it when I got home. Definitely glad I did not pass this up“
“Service was amazing, beyond polite, the presentation of the food was one of the nicest I’ve ever seen in my life. The 24k tomahawk steak was to die for, all 3 sides tasted amazing, they also went off menu to accommodate me for a side. 10/10 everything.“
“Live in the area and have driven by the restaurant hundreds of times. Tonight my wife and I decided we would try dinner there. To our surprise the food was absolutely fantastic. My wife had stuffed sole and I had stuffed shrimp. Also if you like soup try the chicken orzo. Homemade and delicious.Restaurant very clean and inviting.Service was great too.A hidden gem in Southington.Recommend this restaurant,Cannot wait to go again and try other items on their menu,“
“We had dinner tonight at Nikki and Frankie's on Route 80 on the recommendation of a friend.. the eggplant was fantastic and made the right way the good old-fashioned Italian way.. the meatballs were legit the sauce was delish and couldn't be any fresher... we were welcomed like we were walking into aunties dining room and the place was clean as a whistle.. A must go to !“
“This place is my favorite… my go to for everything. When my family has a big celebration they have multiple areas to seat us so we have and never feel rushed. Date nights we are given appropriate attention. I’ve even catered with them and everyone left my home full and happy, didn’t have many left overs. They’re very accommodating with making changes to any dish as long as they have the ingredients! All around great place for any occasion“
“Excellent and clean since they have the most recent owner. Whole belly clams and scallops are my favorite but can't beat the scallops so huge & perfectly cooked. Clams tend to be small to medium size anywhere...still delicious. Dean & I enjoy it very much including the friendly owner and staff.“
“Ok. Let's Do It. My friend and I went out to lunch. This is not only a restaurant but a seafood market as well. I knew the food wasn't going to disappoint because fresh seafood is on deck. It wasn't busy. The staff was friendly and attentive. Orsi was our waitress, and she was great knowledgeable, and what she didn't know she found out for us. I had the seafood sampler and an order of fried clams to go my friend order the fried clams dinner. The food was cooked to perfection. The calamari was cooked just the way I like it. The clams casino were well seasoned, and the oysters were great, too. If you're in Plantsville, you should definitely stop in. You get your money's worth.“
“Have visited this restaurant under the new ownership twice. Once for takeout and tonight to dine in. Both experiences were wonderful and most importantly, the food was delicious. For take out we got the chicken parm and for dine in I had the chicken piccata. The staff is very friendly as well. Highly recommended!“
“Good food, tastes like homemade heaven.. I ordered the wings mac and fries. The chicken was fried hard like I like it the fries was crispy and well seasoned, but damn they must not carry forks, spoons , hot sauce, ketchup, cuz none of that was in the bag.. not one condiment or utensil, I am homeless so i dont have the luxury of having those items laying around, eating it was aggravating but it was my first time there.. imma give another around ..and tell seel books“
“We ordered a few sandwiches here for lunch today and they were amazing. I can’t remember the last time I had a sub that good. The bread was great and they gave you plenty of meat. The service was fast and super friendly. I’ll definitely be getting more food from them soon.“
“My niece gave it a 100 out of 10. She is a picky eater. She literally liked the plastic container after the banana pudding was done. We ordered wings, flounder, greens, mac and cheese, fried broccoli and lemonade. Everything was good. Don't walk run to one of the best restaurants I have been to. Amazing from friendly owner, fresh food, to tasty food. I will travel back from NY to partake in her amazing food. Thanks Surf and Turf!!!!!This place knows how to treat their customers!!!!Vegetarian options: Vegetables not cooked in meat.“

“I'm a rice lover. In my culture(s) rice is a staple so when I go to a Chinese restaurant I make my decision on the rice then go from there. They did not disappoint. Did not smell old oil, nor did the food tast like old oil. Even with delivery the service is nice and respectful. Introduced others and they too like the restaurant.“
“We come here almost once a week with our two elementary schoolers. The staff is always kind, solicitous, and patient, even when one of our kids wants a number of "customizations" to her mac and cheese order. We always look to find a table near the one tv that isn't playing sports but rather is playing funny videos to keep our kids engaged so that the adults can catch up on our days. The cocktails are good and filled to the rim. And, we always appreciate the rotating specials menu so there is something new to try each time for the adults. Can't ask for much more in a go-to neighborhood restaurant.“
“My wife and went here last night, but we did not want pizza, so we looked over the dinner menu and there were many options. Right off the bat, we knew that we wanted Eggplant Fries, that was easy. Then we got to dinner. I ended up with Shrimp Fra Diavlo over Linguine and she had a Shrimp dish with Spinach instead of Linguine. My dish was incredible! My wife told me that I used the word "Incredible" about 6 times. Everything was perfect. She equally loved here dish as well. We will be back!“
“Crab town is one of the few places you can close your eyes and feel like you’re in Maine. The food is fresh, the service comes with a smile, and the crabs fight back as you try to eat them, screaming for their worthless lives until the steak knife triumphs and extinguishes their life with a satisfying crunch. Some crabs will even beg for their lives, pleading that they have a wife and kids before succumbing to their buttery demise. 5/5 would crab again.“
“Perfect pick for seafood. Food was awesome, staff were super friendly and food came out quick and was absolutely what I was craving and hit the spot beautifully. Fried scallops, and a hot lobster roll and chili cheese big dogs for the kids.“
“I had heard positive reviews so tried it out. Wasn't disappointed. Got a small sausage and mushroom pie which was very good. Dough was good , fresh cut mushrooms instead of canned and plenty of sausage and it was cooked as I asked for a change. Also got a meatball grinder which was good also. New owner have brightened up interior of space also. Definitely will go back again“
