“My hairdresser only eats from here I tried it about : weeks ago early part of December and was very happy with the food and service, I also was given a calendar for 2024. I believed I had wings before when my hairdresser ordered but not an entire meal. It was enough to eat all at once if I wanted to but I broke it up and taste was still there the next day. Ordered the shrimp and broccoli and nice size shrimp. I was very impressed I am impressed and definitely will recommend to try and I will go back. The ambiance not bad it's small inside not big seating area but they okay I would take out anyway, it'd clean“
“I ordered a medium cheese thru the Slice app. It was larger than expected. Well-made pie! A healthy amount of mozzarella, not too much sauce. A crispy thin crust, and overall well-seasoned. “I feel like a lot of people don’t know that there really is an embarrassment of riches of restaurants in New Haven County. If you love good food all you have to do is look around here. Dad is the one who made the reservation at Fair Haven Oyster Club (I’m pretty sure you must make a reservation, the spot is small and if the weather is bad the only seating is the bar and a row of two tops behind the bar). I looked up the menu and it looked pretty SPECTACULAR. Reminder: I don’t eat beef, pork or poultry. Lots of times my choices are somewhat limited when we dine out, not at Fair Haven. WOW. Now, if you don’t eat seafood I’m pretty sure you’re out of luck. I don’t think there was anything vegetarian, let alone vegan. Note: Dad reserved “in the bar” on Resy. Turns out that is stools AT the bar. “Dining room” is the two tops that are right behind the bar. So choose wisely. Outdoor seating I think is weather dependent and we got the most spectacular evening last night. We arrived very early for our reservation because we were out and about anyway and it worked out because they sat us out on the deck overlooking the water and the boats. Hands Down now of the very best settings I have ever dined in (and I have dined all over this country and world). Weather was perfection, beautiful blue sky, big, fluffy clouds;s tide was going out, water was crystal clear; across the Quinnipiac River you could see old homes and an old church; off in the distance I could see the cars and trucks on 91. I LOVED THAT. I was a little worried when they gave us tiny water glasses. I drink water. Plenty of it. But they kept those little glasses full. Which is no mean feat when the place just got progressively busier and also, keeping water glasses filled is a common “weak point” when I eat out. The service here was ON POINT. While Dad was griping about the QR code menu I ordered a Hendrick’s and Tonic. Just because they looked like their cocktail game was strong. FYI, most places make terrible, undrinkable gin and tonics. Not Fair Haven Oyster Club! They served me the perfect G&T, even in the correct highball glass (!!) with super fizzy tonic water (!!!). That G&T set the tone for the rest of the meal…knocked directly out of the park. The menu is broken into Raw (they have an impressive oyster selection and caviar service, if that’s your thing), soups and salads, small plates and large plates. My plan was to eat my way through salads and small plates. I did order Scallop Crudo (olive oil, lemon, salt, herbs) and Tuna Crudo (over foie gras mousse on a brioche cracker) for the table. But then I ate them… Dad ordered Gildas to share (tiny skewers of anchovies, piparra peppers, castelvetrano olives & Mahon cheese). Super fun bar type snack. Things I ate: Fair Haven Clam Chowder. Which really tasted like a very good escarole (it was actually kelp) soup with clams. Baby Butter Lettuces (w/fried oysters, green goddess, bonito). This is EVERYTHING a salad should be. Delicious, filling, fresh, UMAMI. The fried oysters make it a legit meal. Heirloom Tomatoes (w/bottarga): beautiful, delicious tomatoes served in the most Umami-forward way possible. Uni Toast (w/ white shoyu, sesame & chive). I eat A LOT of Uni. Because I eat A LOT of Omakase and Kaiseki in NYC. So, for me? There are better ways to savor Uni. But, again! UMAMI BOMB. And I am always here for the Umami. Mom and Dad ordered the Grilled Black Cod (over cucumber & snap pea salad w/ kelp ponzu & shiso). SNAPS to them for stretching outside their culinary comfort zones after I explained o them that Black Cod is one of the most delicious fish out there and ponzu us right up their alley! This dish is just glorious: Perfectly grilled fish adrift in a sea of incredibly fresh and delicious vegetables. The snap of those snap peas was perfection. For dessert we ordered Vanilla Bean Cheesecake with honey fennel pollen & wild fennel. I. LOVE. Fennel and will eat it in any form. This really did not taste of fennel. But! “My husband and I decided to try this place for our 25th wedding anniversary! They did not disappoint! The atmosphere was amazing as well as the service. We thoroughly enjoyed our food. The manager took the time to make our evening extremely special by bringing out a nice dessert!!! He even remembered our names.“
“Moby Dick’s is a hidden gem that’s not a secret anymore. I stopped by there today for an early dinner and had the linguine and clams fra diavalo. I love spicy stuff, and it did not disappoint. “We came for the tapas and did not leave dissatisfied!! Soup to nuts this hidden gem has it all! Authentic taste blended in with all the vacation feels! I forgot I was still in CT! From the moment we started with a white white Sangria and Pina mojito we were far far away. The salmon tar tar, chorizo, and pork Arepas blew our minds. Ask for the off menu street corn dip and plantain chips and you'll never want to leave. We will be back for sure and if anyone ever asks just say 'Ola'!“

“Outstanding food in the heart of New Haven. It's a small, clean place with huge portion sizes. The service was attentive and the staff were friendly and helpful in explaining the different dishes. I had the lomo saltado (classic Peruvian stir-fried beef dish with fries) and my dining partner had a Peruvian rotisserie chicken sandwich. The food is flavorful and an assortment of sauces were provided to add different flavor profiles - spicy, sweet, tangy, etc. We sampled some sauces, which tasted great, but the food was well-seasoned, so we did not need to add any sauces. We both left happy and full. On another date, I also ordered an arroz con mariscos (rice with seafood). There was many pieces of seafood (mussels, crab, shrimp, squid) and it reminded me of the times I had paella in Spain. Icaru is an excellent addition to the New Haven food scene and is a must try for people interested in exploring the diversity of dining in New Haven!“

“The food and service are amazing. The portion sizes are large and you will have enough to take home. Throughly enjoyed myMushroom risotto, My husband had the skirt steak and my daughter had the Meatloaf. MyYounger daughter had the crab cake appetizer for a main dish and said it was very good. There was s complimentary cheese board with olives, excellent! Every dish was flavorful. The drinks were just as good. I had a cosmo and it was on par. Definitely recommended. I typically order the mango shrimp platter, which comes with 2 tortillas for making one's own burritos. “1st time at Hook and Reel! DELICIOUS!!! I could barely eat it all, so much food!! I had the crab cluster with shrimp and scallops and the Hook and Reel sauce. I added fries for $4, I'm not sure about all of you but I haven't walked away with a hot lobster roll for under $27 in a very long time! So price is right. “This place is my favorite… my go to for everything. When my family has a big celebration they have multiple areas to seat us so we have and never feel rushed. Date nights we are given appropriate attention. I’ve even catered with them and everyone left my home full and happy, didn’t have many left overs. “Sunday Brunch was flavorful, mimosa was, well a mimosa . The server was kind enough to put an orange slice when requested. I have included a couple of photos, I find this helpful when searching for a place to dine. Shrimp and Corn Chowder was sweet from the grilled fresh corn, and tender shrimp. Herbs and peppered perfectly. No salt detected which was a pleasant surprise! Served with a slice of grilled sourdough topped this flavorful starter without question! Lobster Benedict was actually Devine! Eggs were perfectly poached, plump sweet lobster chunks, balanced perfectly with chewy toasted ciabatta. Potatoes were tasty, tender and seasoned with sofitas (?) so good. Tiny diced red onions, peppers and herbs scattered made the entire meal flavorful and fresh. Certainly enough space for a crowd, and an equal amount of two seat tables snuggled in corners for a quiet meal for one. Thank you!“

Everything was packaged nicely and was ready upon arrival. Even after getting home the food was not mushy at all! The drunken noodles were spicy and super flavorful. “Great little place for fried seafood and hot dogs. You can get 2 foot long HUMMEL hotdogs with fries, a drink and Cole slaw for $12. That’s about about $7 cheaper than Frankie’s and these hot dogs are grilled over flames instead of fried. They have a seafood platter for $30 and for an extra $5 you can switch from clam strips to whole bellies which is what I did and was totally worth the extra $5. There were so many whole bellies, it was ridiculous. The fried shrimp are cooked perfectly and the scallops are super flavorful and juicy albeit just a teeny bit too salty. The fish was cooked really well too although that’s not really my thing but I will say the breading on it was thin, crispy and delicious. The staff was incredibly friendly and answered all of my annoying questions with no problem at all. And one of the best things, free refills on the soda. Really, the only “complaint” I have about this place is that I wish the tartar sauce was more “relishy”. Can’t wait to try the burger. :)“
