Last Saturday morning, my husband and I jumped in the car at 6:35 AM and drove to the Catania Bakery at 1404 North Capitol Street, NW in DC. We'd just found out his grandfather had worked there when he registered for the WWII draft in 1942 (he was a 60 year old Sicilian baker at the time). It breaks my heart that they open only one day of the week because everything is amazing and at a great price. An inversor should take this place back to the glory! Avery bakery in the area made the same things… this is the only one with international variety!
I love this place so much. Me and my fiancés favorite thing to do on Saturdays is to grab some delicious bread and chat with Al. The bread and pastries are fantastic. It’s the only pleasant place on the block, really.
