Not a fancy fine dining spot, but it was no nonsense and had a great community vibe. Favourite food spot in DC, I’ll be back again and then again.
Super traditional restaurant. Pupusas are out of control! My favorite is chicharron con queso (pork with cheese), but with frijoles (beans) is great too. Soap de res is definitely recommended. All in all, great lunch place with very reasonable prices - $13 per dish.

El Amigo is a fantastic no-frills spot with reasonable prices and delicious food. The pupusa revuelta and pupusa de frijol are generously stuffed and absolutely delicious, complemented by a tangy cabbage slaw. The restaurant offers great customer service, and the pupusas and sopa de mondongo are praised as the best. Even the cheeseburgers are said to be excellent. It's a long-standing local favorite that's worth a visit.
