“This place had been on my list for a while now and finally had the chance to dine in. The food was so flavorful and well cooked. The service was excellent. Will definitely return to try more different items. Good portion sizes too! The desserts looked amazing, I will certainly save room for a piece of cake next time.“

“Absolutely amazing food, atmosphere, and service! My new favorite restaurant in DC. Food is tasty and authentic. Staff is friendly, responsive, and timely. And the restaurant is clean, nicely decorated, and spacious with plenty of seating inside and out. The Adana Lebab, Turkish tea, and Backlava are must-tries. A+++“

“We just ate a late lunch here and it was an awesome experience. The food was fantastic and the service was super friendly. We got the Iskender Kebap, beef sandwhich, and chicken pita and all were fantastic.“

“Approaching the place, it is super bright, which helps finding it as the restaurant is set back from the buildings around it. This also gave us a sense of safety walking in.
There was someone at the counter ready to assist us, but being our first time in, we opted for a kiosk, off to the right side, with a big and equally bright screen, displaying images of every dish. This was very helpful and made the ordering easy and quick, even for us newbies to the place.
We opted to take out. Already, in the car, the aroma of delicious food filled the air. Once at our place, we started opening the containers and wrappers, even the packaging was excellent, inside the plastic bag, a heavy-duty paper back, stapled to containers to prevent shifting and spilling during transport.
The food was utterly delicious, from simple salad, tzatziki sauce (some of the best I have tried anywhere), chickpeas, seasoned fries, shawarmas and kabob.
It would be 2 thumbs up but both my hands were busy.“

“Food is consistently delicious and relatively healthy - particularly for the Howard University crowd that frequents the establishment which is across the street from McDonald’s. That said, I’m older (78) and don’t live around the corner. But I keep coming back (eight years and counting). I go for the chicken and salmon salads.
Vegetarian options: Lots of veggies, but the fresh salad is the bomb!
Parking: I park in the McDonald’s lot since I’m rarely there more than five minutes.“

“Pizza was good but not great, no different options compared to the rest! Also tried their vegi calzone, which was very doughy. Their French fries were much better. However, as soon as you enter the store, the smell of grease hits you. Kind of makes it unappetizing. There is a good amount of seating but part of it is stuffed with recycling boxes that makes the restaurant look untidy, looks like they don’t care about patrons wanting to dine-in. Customer service is sub-standard. Overall I would give it 3.5 stars.
Parking: There is only city street parking and that is not free. Also, very congested and difficult to find. Better to walk here.“

“If you look in the urban dictionary for great “hole in the wall restaurant,” this is it! My wife and I just moved to the area and honestly have not found many restaurants that we would go back to. Family kebob our new go to for Indian. This is a small place with a few table and chairs and a small parking lot (free). The employees are extremely nice, talkative, and provided excellent service. The food was made to order and piping hot and fresh. My wife and I had: lamb kebob, lamb curry, and a side of their spinach. The spinach was amazing. I like that it is tasty but doesn’t have cream, which is typical. Very good. The lamb kebob is a huge serving and was the best dish there that we had. Followed by the lamb curry, which was also top-notch. I also liked their chickpea casserole. I would give the food a 10 out of 10.I would recommend maybe sprucing up the inside a little bit so that it would be more accommodating to people eating in, but this is definitely our go to moving forward and great for takeout. We paid about 47 bucks with a tip and had significantly leftovers. Great value! We will be back.“

“Authentic Afghan Cuisine & Outstanding Service!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Afghan Restaurant Authentic Cuisine & Sheeryakh, and I must say, it was an incredible experience! From the moment we walked in, the hospitality was warm and welcoming. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed, providing excellent customer service with a genuine smile.
Now, let’s talk about the food—absolutely delicious! Every dish was bursting with rich, authentic Afghan flavors. The kabobs were perfectly grilled, the rice was fragrant and fluffy, and the mantu were just incredible. You can tell they use high-quality ingredients and put a lot of love into their cooking.
If you’re looking for a place that serves mouthwatering Afghan food with top-notch service in Alexandria, VA, I highly recommend Afghan Restaurant Authentic Cuisine & Sheeryakh. Can’t wait to visit again!“

“We got the half spicy and house special. Both broths were good but I do think the spicy could’ve used more flavor. The quality of the meal was amazing and service was quick! I’d say though this is a close second to Happy Lamb in Eden Center.“

“Great spot for a casual dinner! Located in the heart of Union Market, Yasmine is a lively, bustling Mediterranean spot serving up delicious wraps, salads, and platters. I came by for a quick bite on Friday evening, and the Market was packed. We managed to snag a seat at the long table next to Yasmine and split their Friday special, the falafel wrap. The wrap was packed with flavor — it was a bit zingy, a bit spicy, and a bit herby. They had a delightful sauce, but the falafel itself had plenty of seasoning on its own as well. The falafel was perfectly fried, with a nice crispy shell, and it went wonderfully with the fresh, crunchy cucumbers, pickles, and cherry tomatoes.
My dining partner also tried their chicken shawarma wrap, which was also fantastic but slightly more lacking in flavor vs. the falafel wrap. It didn’t have the same sauce that the falafel version had, which made it a smidge less exciting and a tad more dry.
All in all, Yasmine is a great addition to my Union Market rotation! It has a great lively energy and solid food; I can’t wait to come back soon!“
