My wife and I went here while on vacation in DC and it was excellent. Great sushi, nice beer, good ambience (not deathly quite nor overwhelmingly loud i.e. able to converse and be comfortable) and the service was excellent. Highly recommend. Will return once we are back in DC. Hopefully soon. Great town, too.
I would like to start with a disclaimer that you can spend a lot of money at this restaurant, however there is still plenty to enjoy on a budget! Whether you’re coming for a party, casual lunch or a special occasion you will leave Sushi Gakyu feeling appreciative of the friendly staff and their great services to the customers.This was my experience when I went with a few friends to the closest food spot we could find that was also interesting. The food was good and there was a good selection of sake. The service was excellent (even though they only had two staff doing both table waiting and sushi making).I wish there was more roll selection/variety and an option for larger boats/platters - we had to order mostly piecemeal.Very expensive restaurant.
