“Newtown is a historic, colonial town, and is very quaint and charming. Within, the Mercury Cafe is a gym with delicious comfort food and great coffee. While it’s vegetarian, many of the dishes can be prepared vegan. The BBQ pulled oats sandwich, pastrami panini, grilled cheese and tomato soup were all so good and comforting. Definitely worth stopping by if you’re in the area!“

In fact, our dessert was served while our table was still cluttered with our meal dishes and silver, and without fresh dessert plates, spoons, etc. NOT GOOD! Our son then sought a waiter and commandeered plates and tools and we shared the dessert over a debris-strewn table ;-( I cornered the on-duty assistant manager (otherwise unseen for the evening) and shared my frustration with the evident inattention to service detail... he said, "I'll pass that on..." next to a door that was constantly being opened to the outside world and it blasted cold air at me.

They also tried to charge me $29.99 for this “lobster” roll (and I use that term loosely). You can’t in good conscience tell me that this coleslaw concoction is more than 5% lobster. It’s potato chips and coleslaw on a tiny hot dog bread.

“I usually don’t write reviews but Mike (chef) at Genaro’s is so wonderful ! The short time I met him and talked to him I could tell how genuine and sweet he is. I had my mom’s retirement dinner at a place pretty much next door. When I called originally to see if he can cater it he called me back so quickly and helped me pick out the perfect amount of food . EVERYTHING was sooo delicious (and we are foodies ) when dropping off the food we were figuring out where to get ice and he offered his workers to go get ice for us from his kitchen(the restaurant ) … so nice! Also he said gave us plates bc I mentioned I didn’t want to eat on plastic or paper plates. I can’t wait to actually go and eat at the restaurant next time .“

“Dinner at Masamoto was suggested by a friend, so you're getting a twofer review. If you love sushi how can you go wrong?

We went with another couple on a Wednesday night. (Now you're up to 5 people recommending this place-bonus!) The place is small, so we made reservations. Sadly, we were the only customers when we arrived. I was a little concerned, but once rush hour died down the place got busy. The kitchen was hopping, creating table and take out orders. And for good reason.

We ordered a bunch of sushi rolls. They all looked amazing when brought to the table. There's no point in telling you which rolls we order, because they were all great and the menu has so many choices. And they will even make you gluten-free rolls and fried rice if you ask.

You don't go to Masamoto if you don't like sushi, so go and enjoy some wonderful creations.

It's usually true what they say about cozy hole in the wall restaurants. Masamoto is such a place, and deserves to be packed every night. If you want Asian flair and the extra costs for decorations and loud music - good for you, but you're missing out. Masamoto is a mom-n-pop type place with great food and a fantastic staff. They are helpful and happy to take care of you. For me, a genuinely cheery staff is what makes a place feel welcoming.

Masamoto is a place you go for the food and the company. Make some time and treat yourself.
Oh, and bring your favorite saki, wine, or bubbly. They are BYOB. Your belly and your wallet will thank you!

Portions are great too, I’m usually fed for like 2-3 days.If you have been curious about tofu, try the tofu pad Thai. I’ve definitely come across tofu that has had a weird texture if it’s not cooked properly, but Vilma does it perfect every time.If you’re curious about the Thai iced tea - try it out it’s so good. Similar to how chai teas are spiced, but it’s got a nice sweet creamy flavor. I love it!If you’ve been curious about curry, the red curry is awesome. I’ve had it with chicken and tofu and they are both great.But I’ll be real, i haven’t tried something from this restaurant that I didn’t love so take that what you will lol.Price is very reasonable, hours are great, overall great restaurant.
