We had a great meal here the other night. We chose to sit outside under the covered patio which was great because the indoor dining area was little noisy. They brought out complimentary bread and an amuse-bouche to start. We ordered the Bone Marrow and Escargot as our appetizer, which was very tasty. Our friends recommended we try Indigo! What a lovely experience from our greeting at the door to our spacious and peaceful heated patio table. We were worried it might be too chilly outside, but the heating from the ceiling and beside the tables kept us very comfortable. We enjoyed the complimentary pimento cheese appetizer and bread. Indigo is a charming restaurant that offers a delightful dining experience in historic downtown Fernandina Beach. The food is generally very good, with standout dishes like the duck, salmon, escargot, bacon, and butter cake all receiving high praise. The warm butter cake topped with vanilla ice cream is particularly outstanding. The service is accommodating and welcoming, with attentive and knowledgeable servers. Indigo has a cozy atmosphere in an updated single-family house, though seating can be a bit cramped and the noise level may rise when busy. The menu features a variety of dishes, including lobster mac & cheese, sea bass, crab cakes, seared scallops, and flounder, though some portions could be more generous. While they currently do not have a liquor license, the wine selection is fairly decent. Indigo is considered a gem, with food that is said to be better than the previously closed Le Clos and potentially the best on the north side of the island. The staff is professional, polite, and accommodating, and the surroundings are beautiful, with the outside garden being a popular choice for special events.
