“If you truly you want to taste of Cuba brought to your table, then go straight to Belkis, she has such passion for her food and her cooking, she brings the spirit of Cuba and her ancestors with her she oking all over again. She's been gone for quite some time now. But I can tell you my grandmother was born and raised in Cuba and left right before Fidel took control. When I tell you she has the best Cuban food and the best and most authentic, it is 100%. You can't get any better than Belkis! We have a lot of Mexican food here but she's the only true Cuban food, if you want the flavor of Cuba to come home to your dinner table or your lunch time goes to see Belkis on the island, she's right between the car wash and the old hospital, the gas station right there that it's on island itself walk-in make a right. And there she is cooking in her kitchen!(She was able to survive 2020 in the months in between by herself without help! She was open and ready to serve you at a moment's notice!) She was never closed once, and she does a lot to help the community! She is truly a gem in Venice and a staple! She reminds me so much of my Cuban grandmother, from cuba. She has that nothing can knock me down attitude keeps going. But mostly she puts so much love and caring into preparing every meal, when you want real food. That's not an assembly line and only uses the freshest of ingredients! No need to think twice go ahead and go, as a man that stands behind his word! I will gladly put my name behind hers

Vegetarian options: With all the vegetables she uses when she cooks, she can prepare your traditional Cuban food without meat. It's like asking your grandmother or your own mother to cook you a meal . She can customize anything to your liking

Dietary restrictions: She cooks everything from scratch so just ask her, and she will cook you any kind of Cuban food you would like. She will customize any order with no charge

Parking: More than enough parking, it's on the Venice island, and it actually stands on its own little baby Island what the gas station. There is always parking no matter what and very close parking

Kid-friendliness: Not only is a kid-friendly it's family-friendly! When you eat there you are family. Even if you eat there once your family for life

My SWFL family has been going to the Keys at least once a year for the past 40 years & we've tried countless different key lime pies from Sarasota to Key West in search of the best one. There are some great pies in the Keys, but still none of them top Flo's in Sarasota. Her pies are just next level! We love it so much that we buy a key lime pie from Flo's and take it to the keys every year ? The whole family looks forward to it. Every layer of this pie is so good on its own - the key limey whipped cream, the perfectly sweet/tart filling, & the homemade graham cracker crust - but all together, it's to die for. I would buy barrels of each individual layer if I could, and just die happy in a key lime coma. It really is the best pie in the state, plus there are a ton of other pies & truffles & desserts she offers. I highly recommend checking out Flo's!“

“Fantastic meal, will come again- Joelle took wonderful care of us, and went above and beyond to curate a tremendous dining experience. Yummy colada for my Mom, with fresh lime juice and delicious. We had the Oysters Rockefeller as an appetizer, which was superb and were as good as I’ve ever had. Fresh, sizable, hot, and delicious. Flavors were second to none and I could’ve easily ordered a dozen or two of these and been more than satisfied with nothing else. My mom had the blackened Mahi tacos- flavoring was perfect, and the portion was not skimpy. I had crab cakes and scallops - To say I’ve NEVER had better is not an understatement- There is ZERO unnecessary filler in these. Lump crab meat, with the lightest crust ever. Flaky and so tender. The scallops were plump, fresh, and lightly golden. My son had the grouper kids meal, fried to perfection. He has now retired traditional fish sticks in his life, at least wherever fresh grouper bites are available! My daughter had a tummy ache, and the kitchen gave her an ‘off menu’ request of butter and marinara on fettuccini. She felt good enough through the meal to join in on the key lime pie and chocolate cake! The only thing I would have changed is traded the cool whip (I presume) for fresh whipped cream. 10/10, good value and the freshest most delicious food. Great views, and the place was clean and well ran. Kris, the GM, stopped by and chatted with us for a few minutes, and we had just glowing feedback for him. Cook, server, hostess, and staff all over delivered !“

“Quality of food. Life long member of the owners from Adrian Michigan. I don’t understand when I read comments as for “not authentic Mexican ingredients”. Does the sign not say “Tex-Mex”? In Adrian Michigan we have a large migrant population that prefers other Mexican restaurants over the grasshopper. Huge reason is that the taste buds of visiting Mexicans are used to hot, very hot. As I live here in Mexico I cannot sample any hot sauce because it’s too hot. So I bring my own hot sauce with me when I eat out. I don’t consider the menu as Tex Mex. The family founders brought recipes from Mexico but again, had to tone down the spicy seasoning for the northerners. HOWEVER, if you ask for the extra hot seasoning, they will make you a dishes that will set your mouth on fire upon request. I can’t explain the next topic, but that no one has complained but their menu prices that seem to never increase. As for the cheese dipping sauce? I haven’t been to the Sarasota location. But it’s a wise-tail in Adrian that the cook staff has to sign NDA’s just to know the recipe. Everyone has tried to replicate it but no one has ever gotten it correct. Linda/co-owner has been a lifelong full-time employee that worked every day beside her now ex husband that runs and operates the original Adrian Michigan establishment where his parents created the restaurant. She only hires the best staff and the staff are lifelong dedicated employees. In Adrian, no one visits for the decorations or environment because it’s nothing close to impressive, they visit for the food and service and the staff that brings you refills before knowing that you need one.“

She said she'd be right back for order. 15 minutes later others were seated, and actually served. Our waitress rook the order fir a couple who had just been seated and then took ours. I complained to the hostess who took off our coffees. The waitress apologized for serving the other couple first. She didn't understand that we had waited an additional 20 minutes to PLACE our order. I never complain, I've been wait staff. The wait staff there has always been fabulous until today. She is clueless.“

“My family and I ate at Old Salty Dog in Venice Friday and were blown away at the quality of the food, the fantastic prices, and most importantly the hospitality of the staff. The frisbee plates for the kids meals were such a cute and appreciated touch! Linda P was our waitress and she was amazing! She was on point with everything and was such a hoot! I’ve been vacationing in FL for almost 30 years and this restaurant is by far and away the best food and value I’ve found in YEARS. I cannot recommend enough and CAN’T WAIT to return!“

“I was a little hesitant given some of the reviews, especially of the General Tso, but it was delicious. I got the Phoenix & Dragon with chicken, shrimp, vegetables and Lo Mein. It was $4 more for the Lo Mein but it was a lot of food. And I got five large shrimp and a ton of chicken in the dinner. I also got egg roll (haven't had yet) and crabmeat rangoon (deliciously slightly sweet)“
