“Cocina Cafe 1150 Malabar Rd. Palm Bay, FL 32907 5 Stars Looking at the name Cocina Cafe on my random name generator, I realized one thing about myself. While I dreaded going OTB, I would do so without a qualm for two reasons: good food from South of the Border and the Caribbean Sushi. First, I was taken aback by the overwhelming assault of delicious aromas attacking my olfactory organ and the staggering amount of choices when I entered. Running the gambit from beans and rice to whole fried fish the menu changes daily and does not appear to be locked into any one country or region of the globe. Don't get me wrong, it does have a heavy Latin influence, but you will also find rotisserie chicken on the menu for Mondays and Beef with Broccoli makes an appearance on Thursdays. Regretting not taking Spanish in school I was saved from any awkwardness by Zuleyka. She came to my rescue and walked me through this amazing cafeteria-style restaurant. While the choices seemed endless, I managed to narrow it down to a few of the proffered delectable. With Zuleyka ever at my side, I ordered some Roasted Pork, Fried Pork Rinds, fried red Snapper, Beef with Ziti, Beef Blood Sausage and mashed plantains. Perhaps it was because I came early, which I am glad I did, but judging by everything else, I don't think that was why everything was so fresh and delicious. As the tender, juicy piece of roasted pork in my mouth can attest, this was a far cry from your typical cafeteria. The pork was not top-shelf, but it didn't come from the bottom of the food service barrel either. It was seasoned perfectly and cooked with undeniable love and skill. The Fried Pork Rinds were nothing like the bag you can get in the chip aisle at Publix. If you've had the real deal, I don't need to tell you this. These were magnificent on the palate: crispy, light, and flavorful with just a hint of spice. Exquisito! This brings me to the plat du moment, the friend Red Snapper. I don't know how they do it; all I know is that every time I try to fry anything at home, parts are done perfectly, parts are well done, and parts are sushi. This was not the case here. The Red Snapper was fried to a mouthwatering conclusion. Moving along, I sampled the Beef Ziti. As I worked it across my palate, I couldn't help but notice that this had to be some of the most flavorful Italian-esque food I've had in any restaurant. The sauce was fresh and spicy, and I found the Ziti to be cooked perfectly al dente. Ben fatto! Forcing myself to forgo more Beef Ziti, I turned my attention to the Beef Blood Sausage. Found in nearly every cuisine on the planet, the Blood Sausage is one of mankind's oldest meals. It varies from country to country and region to region with a myriad of ingredients. I don't know what version this was; all I know is that it was extremely good. If not seasoned correctly, blood sausage can easily be overpowering or too strong for the average palate. This was not the case here. I snapped pictures of every food item along with the price. I have never discussed price in the seven years of doing over 500 reviews. I will pay any amount of money for outstanding food. As with most Americans, what we won't put up with is overpriced garbage that's been left in Wayne Szalinski's lab and has experienced "shrinkflation." I purchased enough food for 12 people and the price was...$61.00! I insisted the bill be double-checked, knowing it just couldn't be right. It was. The Big Boy says, "This may be the best food value in the county. GO NOW!!!!!"“
“Amazing atmosphere with a variety of Health Conscious food items. They also have raw organic local milk and local organic jarred goods for sale. I was understanding by $30+ total for one taco, one smoothie, and muffin, and I appreciate the quality of the ingredients used. Certainly coming back soon to get my milk!“
“Great place. Wonderful food, a bit messy because we got their burgers but that’s expected ?. Very good food, checks all the boxes of a good burger, I suggest unless u have a very large mouth and hands. Do not get an extra patty on your burger as I did, because the patties are very thick and makes it a monster of a burger when it’s already pretty big. Very good service. Our waiter Paige had excellent energy, amazing social skills, and great efficiency when waiting on us and others from what I saw. I “made my own”burger, and got a side of parm fries and it was so good. My mother which was there with me Got their lobster burger with a side of parm fries and she said it was amazing. And I also got one of their lava cakes in house which Paige doctored up with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and caramel and fudge drizzle in which Paige was excited I ordered in rather than to go because “she enjoys dr’ing it up” clearly a lady who loves the food, loves her job and doesn’t well. Thanks Paige, and thanks to the two awesome cooks who made our food. We will definitely be back again soon! P.s. they also had some really cool signs and art in the walls. P.P.S the mens bathroom is pretty clean, well maintained and has some nice touches like a mouthwash dispenser and air freshener if you need them alongside some funny signs as well.Dietary restrictions: They also accommodate for ceiliac and vegetarian diets from what I saw, I myself am Ceiliac and got fries(made in a dedicated fryer) and a burger with a gluten free bun, with a side of some delicious chipotle garlic Aoli sauce that was delicious with the parm fries. Overall a great place for two people ,my mother ( no dietary restriction ) and myself ( celiac’s disease Aka severe gluten allergy ) to eat together. ? 9.9/10 restaurant, and 10/10 burger.“
“We’ve been going to Mel’s for years. The food is great and the staff are always so friendly and accommodating. I recommend the Happy Days bowl for breakfast!Dietary restrictions: Gluten free and vegetarian optionsKid-friendliness: High chairs available for guests“
“This cozy little gem packs a huge punch in the flavor department! Speaking of huge... the pancakes were just that! The family started eating before i could snap pics of their food.I felt like I visited a friend's kitchen. The owner was welcoming and genuinely happy to know we enjoyed our food! I'm so glad we stopped by Lily's today.“
“This place is delightful. I have enjoyed Sunday brunch there as well as their new BNC, Banana River Cafe at Night. Go now, I mean right now! Wonderful food at amazing prices. I went to their Italian night and enjoyed an amazing burrata appetizer, pesto pasta with chicken and the best Cesar salad I have ever had. The service was amazing. Support this local gem!“
“I’m in vacation and found this Vegan Gem Cafe! I ate the Collard Burrito (veggies avocado w hummus) w their onion bread. Had nitro coffee w nut milk! Yum! Never been so happy to have to do my laundry on vacation! It’s next to the 24 hr laundromat. ?Vegetarian options: Delicious Fresh Food“
“the food is great. very fresh made. the empanadas very crunchy fresh made. i recommend start with a cuban sandwich and a cortadito. then a guava empanada. the hall family gets something and it was just like $50 and some change. definitely will be my place to grab a bite before i go to the beach.“
“The coffee here is truly exceptional (my husband's words), the food, while decent, leaves something to be desired. My husband, for instance, was excited to order the wrap, only to be told that rice - a staple ingredient - was unavailable. This was disappointing and somewhat perplexing, as rice typically accompanies the wrap automatically. He ended up opting for a bagel instead, which was fine but not what he had originally wanted. In conclusion, while this café has its charms - including top-notch coffee and visually appealing pastries - there are some areas that could use improvement. With a bit more attention to detail and consistency, it could easily elevate its status from good to great.“
“Literally the best cfs I’ve ever had. Everything we had was amazing. We all got something different due to it being our first time and wanted to make sure we got to try a little bit of something. We all shared our meals and it was all so good. I drove over an hour to come try mulberry lane and it was so worth it and will definitely become a regular thing for my family.“
“I recommend the country pond café because you cannot find any places anymore that brings you good old fashion, hometown cooking. The atmosphere is awesome. You don’t have to worry about anything when you walk in the door just enjoy the food and the atmosphere. I love the roosters by the way anyone in this area to go there go it’s worth it I’ve had their breakfast I’ve had their lunch I’ve even had prime rib. Everything is awesome. Me and my mother will be going back“
“This is the first time eating there and the owner made me feel welcome from the second I walked into her establishment. Everything is made in house. The Cuban sandwich is absolutely amazing!! I can't wait to go back and try some more of the delicious food.“
“The 905 Cafe- Downtown Melbourne- 4 stars Secreted away in a small niche amongst a gaggle of shops, boutiques, art galleries, and eating establishments awaits a true culinary gem for your enjoyment. I am speaking, of course, about the 905 Cafe in the Historic Arts district of the sprawling metropolis that is downtown Melbourne, FL. The first thing that struck me as I entered and approached the counter for service was the fact that 905 has somehow kept the same ambiance for over 20 years. Not sure how they do it, but if they could bottle it and sell it, they could make a fortune. After placing my order for an Egg Salad sandwich on marbled rye and a Chicken Salad on fresh greens with the pleasant, attentive, on-the-ball counter staff, I noticed patrons comfortably seated upon antique chairs dining with utter enjoyment on the fare offered and I couldn't help but think that if Paris Hilton or her ilk (tall, skinny blondes with purse poochies) were living in Melbourne, FL. this is where they would dine. This is the kind of place that people in Hollywood go to see and be seen. The ambiance is sophisticated enough to draw their crowd, yet homey enough for the average tourist from Nebraska. Again, if they could bottle this...Anyway, I digress, back to the task at hand. My order was plated artfully and placed on a tray with a smile awaiting my pick up. I enthusiastically grabbed it off the counter and tried to casually walk to the nearest table as my eyes devoured the feast in front of me and my olfactory senses became overwhelmed with the scent of freshly baked bread wafting up from my tray. The marbled rye was still warm from the oven and had that springiness of freshly baked bread while the crust was a perfect mix of firmness and chewiness that is a must in a good bread. The taste of the bread alone was exquisite, add to that the made to order egg salad and I was in the sandwich equivalent of Valhalla (Skol!). After making the delicious egg salad disappear in a matter of moments, I moved on to the Chicken Salad Salad. As with the Egg Salad, their Chicken Salad is made to order, none of that half hour old stuff out of a bucket for these guys. It was perfectly made to the right degree of creaminess and sat majestically atop a bed of freshly selected baby Spring greens all topped with hand cut fresh strawberries and real, honest to YiaYia, goat's milk Feta. The Big Boy says, "whether you are a high-society, stilettos in the sand wearing, purse puppy toting fashionista or a surfer from Beachside in baggies, a T-shirt and flops looking for a sophisticated dining experience with delicious, made to order, better than down-home cooking, head on over to the 905 Cafe. You do, however, have to leave Princess Buttercup at home. Health codes and all..“
“This place is my favorite when we visit Florida, I have celiac and I always know I'm safe here, the owner is once of the most easy to talk to down to earth people I have met, his wife makes awesome pastries that are gluten free, go check this place out for sure the coffee is also awesome here, atmosphere is laid back and chill!“
“Nestled along the serene shoreline, this charming European-style restaurant exudes a quaint family-owned ambiance, inviting patrons to savor a taste of old-fashioned country tranquility. Ideal for those seeking respite from the bustling pace of urban living, it offers a peaceful retreat where wholesome meals, prepared with genuine care, await. Amidst the simplicity of its surroundings, guests are treated to an authentic dining experience, steeped in familial warmth and culinary tradition.“
“Cedars Cafe- Lake Washington-5-Stars Quickly becoming a local favorite, this gem of an eatery is beginning to make a huge splash in the local culinary scene. As with most fine dining joints (Cedar's is more casual, but the food is not), Chef Toni changes her menu with the seasonal availability of the freshest ingredients. As we have cruised on past summer and are now in the fall months, I thought it would be a good time to revisit a new favorite and see what Chef Toni did with her traditional, yet eclectically mixed menu. After being seated, I hungrily listened to my server rattle off the seasonal specials and began to drool. This should be extraordinary based on what my ears were telling my palate. After a few moments taking it all in, I asked for an order of Artichoke Shawarma, Fennel Apple salad, White Yam fries, Beat salad with goat cheese, Haloumi cheese, some kafta and an order of chicken thighs in a shiitake mushroom sauce. Relaxing in the pleasant atmosphere it seemed only a moment had passed when my server was soon approaching with my food. Setting it down before me, I drank in the beautiful artistry and scintillating aromas spiraling towards the ceiling as I reached for my tools of gastronomical destruction and got to work. After one bite of the Artichoke Shawarma I knew that once again, Chef Toni has hit a home run. After using the outside of the Artichoke for another dish and wanting to be a zero-waste kitchen, Chef Toni took the artichoke hearts, through some shawarma spice on them, and plopped them on some freshly made hummus. The tastes were extraordinary. The Fennel Apple salad is a misnomer as it should read Fennel and Shaved Apple salad. With thin shavings of apple over fresh greens, fennel, fresh mint and a "secret" ingredient of orange blossom water, this salad was out of this world. Used to cleanse the palate between courses, it more than served its purpose In pursuing the freshest ingredients, Chef Toni often comes upon once in a blue moon opportunities from her local sources. Case in point, white yams. Obtaining just a few of them from a local farmer, Chef Toni worked her magic and turned them into fresh white yam fries served with an herbed, homemade tahini sauce that was a sheer delight on the palate. They were like no fries I have ever tasted before. Moving on to the most pedestrian dish, if one can call a goat cheese feta and fresh beet salad with homemade pomegranate vinaigrette drizzled over it, pedestrian. With farm-fresh beets and real honest to Athens goat cheese feta this was amazing as well. It seems that Chef Toni never misses. She must, she is only human, but I have yet to catch her off her game. After a few bites of the salad, just to make sure I had the taste down, I turned my attention to the grilled Haloumi cheese. While this is a traditional middle eastern dish, Chef Toni took traditional and turned it on its ear. With some almond dukkah seasoning and fresh local honey drizzled over it, this cheese was a far cry from the stuff I grew up on. Talk about scrumptious! While the Houlomi cheese was a far cry from my childhood, Chef Toni's take on kafta brought me right back to it. Grilled in the oven, topped with fresh hummus with tomato and onions and topping a freshly made pita, this went straight to the little boy inside the Big Boy and made him very happy. With a delicate blend of herbs and spices, this dish alone was worth the visit. Sadly, this brings me to the last item up for review, the Chicken thighs in a shiitake mushroom sauce. What can I say about this without sounding like the proverbial broken record? Using locally farmed mushrooms and chicken, this dish taste farm-fresh and danced across my taste buds. The sauce was delicate, subtle and full of flavor while the chicken was tender, juicy and had to have been alive just a few hours earlier, it tasted that fresh. This place is 5 stars all day, every day. The Big Boy says, "Just go already!"“
“If you're looking for a Boba place, this is the place to go! They allow you to create your own drink, or you can order off their amazing menu. This place is so cool, The staff is so sweet. Even though they might not have the flavor you want, they will find something for you. Words can't describe how good this place is. You have to try this place out!“
“We just got off a 7 day cruise in Miami and drove to Melbourne to have Shrimp and Grits at Squid Lips. Sadly it’s no longer on the menu. Being from WI I don’t find Shrimp and Grits very often so needless to say I was bummed. So we got on the Google and searched for Shrimp and Grits. Our search lead us here to the Broken Egg Cafe. Hands down the best meal we have had in the last 10 days. Truly amazing and our server Nicole was top notch. This is a must stop, must try, but more importantly a must come back.“
