I found Gulley's searching online for smoked mullet, and I am soooo happy I did. They make the best smoked mullet, as well as the best grouper dip. The staff are very kind, helpful, and the prices are fantastic. I live over an hour away, but coming here is so worth the drive. I am very pleased, and I will definitely be back for more.
I grew up in the area and have been eating smoked mullet for nearly 50 years. In the 1970's mullet were plentiful all along the coast and you could get it raw or cooked in several different ways everywhere you went, but the smoked was always a hit with me. As time went by the mullet schools shrank and it became harder and harder to find it in any form. I picked up some mullet spread at Discount Tackle. I thought $8 seamed a little steep, but I was wrong. They make THE BEST spread I have ever tasted. I ate half the tub the first day.
