It was almost overwhelming the amount of things to choose from , everything looked delicious. People in line were even raving to me about different pastries to help me narrow it down. The drip I had chosen had ran out as I was half way through my cup and the very kind girl with pink hair ran over to make sure I got more coffee asap and sat and talked with me while it brewed. Before I left with all my goodies she even came back over to make sure everything was looking and tasting good. Even the girls in the kitchen who made my ham egg and cheese were very kind. “Just devoured two savory Colombian empanadas from Mi Patria Bakery and I’m still thinking about them. The outer crunch? Perfect. The filling? Rich, comforting, full of flavor. But the real magic? That little cup of salsa they include. Zesty, spicy, and layered. Dipping the empanada in it somehow made everything more alive. Like it unlocked a bonus level of flavor.

The shop itself smells amazing, like you’re walking into a warm embrace. The energy was upbeat and the service was so kind. The cashier greeted me with rapid, beautiful Spanish (all I caught was pelo azul) before noticing I was struggling and switching to English with a smile.

“I finally made it to The Chef & The Baker on S. Manhattan Avenue after one of my best friends raved about their croix donuts for months ~ and wow, it did not disappoint! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by the warmest front desk representative, Lisa, and had the pleasure of meeting Chef Rosana. Both were incredibly kind, welcoming, and made the experience feel special. The food and drinks were absolutely amazing. My Café con Leche was perfectly balanced and delicious, and the iced vanilla latte was just as good. We tried the homemade Cinnabon buns, a plain sugary croix donut, and the Nutella croix donut ~ each one unbelievably fresh, flaky, and full of flavor. We also grabbed a baguette to go and ended up trying it in the car on the way home… it was delish! You can taste that everything is genuinely homemade. The café itself is adorable ~ cozy and inviting. I’m already looking forward to coming back and trying more from their menu. This little hidden gem definitely lived up to the hype! I recommend this spot!“

This is my second time here with my daughter-in-law and both visits have been excellent. The team is friendly, professional, and clearly takes pride in their work. A special shout-out to Albania, who has helped us each time. She is kind, attentive, and thorough, and she makes sure every detail is taken care of. “When you come into this place, there might not be anyone in the front to serve you right away because they are busy cooking in the back so just give the store a call to get ahold of them, no big deal. The food they do serve is delicious and flavourful. I had the Pork Adobo and Lumpiang Shanghai. The restaurant section is tiny with just a few tables but it does look nice. There is also a nice store where you can get lots of fillipino snacks while you wait. Overall, my experience was amazing and I would recommend this place to anyone that wants some authentic Fillipino food.“

“It’s not really a pastry shop. It’s only two small display cases of pastries. I did try their bread pudding and it was very good. It’s more like a small café for breakfast and lunch. Definitely worth trying. But don’t go there expecting huge displays of baked goods, because like I said before, there are only two small display cases. Amazing environment to sit, eat, and enjoy the city view, while being able to choose from a broad variety of foods, baked goods, drinks, etc. And also very clean and tidy from the entrance all the way to the bathrooms.
