My brother-in-law knows the Carrera family and did us a huge blessing in introducing us to this wonderful wine shop. The atmosphere was much more than pleasant, the people so friendly and welcoming and helpful in finding lovely wines that both matched and stretched my pallet. “We were sat upon arrival for our reservation. The leather bound EXTENSIVE meno was a nice touch. Ethan, our waiter, was jovial, attentive, but not hovering. We took our time ordered drinks (Raising Cane was a fun, different flavor!). The meatballs were unique and "exotic" spices as claimed in the menu. The tuna tartar had a little bit of kick with flavoring, but the highlight was the grilled toast. We shared a small tossed salad which was just the right amount after two apps. Our mains were Duck Pappardelle (special) and pasta al vodka with chicken thighs. Both were outstanding, with nice portions size. As we were leaving my husband gave his best review "We need to come back here, there are several other things I'd like to try!" A nice after dinner walk back to our car, parked on the river. (Give yourself plenty of time to get parked and walk, as there is no direct parking on these beautiful old brick streets.)“

“St. Augustine, FL. Oh what a divine breakfast we had at Aviles! Shiraz, who greeted us and served us, was so wonderfully warm, quiet and sweet. Just what you need in the morning. We were the second table to be seated.

I tried shakshuka for the first time. It was incredible. And so was Steve’s croissant, omelet, our coffee, and my Cuban toast. Steve took extra long because on top of his croissant he ate my Cuban toast! They put little jars of Dickinson’s preserves on the table with a nob of real butter so of course he slowed down to savor that.

Aviles felt like a bright cocoon in the morning light with the flowers outside the shuttered windows. What a good memory.“

“Our favorite spot to end the day when visiting St. Augustine! The drinks are great and fairly priced. When you go, make sure to ask to sit in Will’s area. Will has always been our server when there over the past couple of years and actually remembered us a year later after our 1st week there. Maybe we spent a little too many evenings here… Nah!“
