The food wasn't just good it was authentic. I was born and raised in Tampa and I know there are some dishes that you can only get when you're invited into our homes. It isn't something you can experience anywhere else accept in the home of a Tampa native. Their menu includes one of those dishes. The devil crab was the best I have ever had and the Picadillo puts mine to shame
What a gem! I found them after Jesus had his video about the history of the Tampa Cuban sandwich go viral. That was just the beginning! He has created an homage to the Afro-Cuban experience of Ybor/Tampa culture a century ago, spelled out lovingly in food and drink. Soul de Cuba Cafe is a quiet and personal restaurant with great food for every taste bud. It offers attentive and awesome customer service, as well as spirits for the palate. The Cuban sandwich is a classic staple that is perfectly done and pairs well with a mojito. Guests also highly recommend the Classic Cuban and all the empanadas, including the delicious guava and cheese empanada. Other menu highlights include the crab fritters appetizer, which is a signature dish, and the dark storm cocktail. The back beans and rice are a standout dish, reminiscent of childhood flavors. The restaurant features many Caribbean flavors, making it a real Tampa staple that everyone needs to experience. Parking is limited and shared with another company. Despite sometimes hosting private events, service remains excellent, making Soul de Cuba Cafe highly recommended.
