“June 9, 2024 6:45pm arrival To start with the background of tonight's experience there were 3 us tonight for dinner. I'm a server at a locally, my sister's been in hospitality management/sales, and our wonderful mother has spent upwards of 50+ years in hospitality/service (sorry mom!) Our server Michael started by taking our order without a pen & paper or tablet within sight. Starting with my sister first, my mother then myself he had forgotten my sisters order by the time he got done with mine. My sister and myself ordered honey-vanilla margarita's before the food and while tasty they had very little alcohol. Typically I'll order one drink and 2 if I'm feeling extra spicy. I ordered a second drink with my food which sat on the bar for over 8 minutes (I should have gotten it myself but as a server i would never do that to MY server)before I stopped looking at the clock. My sister had a chimichanga which was okay while being nothing impressive. My mother ordered a burrito with double black beans which the second order of beans did not arrive with the food, and lastly myself which ordered a mojara with the fish being over fried almost to the point of a dirty/burnt taste. While the food preparation was not our server's fault his inattentiveness was because my salad that I ordered with honey mustard never came until I asked for it TWICE along with my second drink that spent over 8 minutes wasting away in front of me on the bar counter, along with Michael forgetting not once or twice, but THREE entire times to get my mother's second half of her double black beans. He took checks and cashed out 2 tables before having any approach to fixing our issues which ultimately made the entire atmsphere uncomfortable as we watched him take care of guest who had been finished eating. we watched our food get cold(or not delivered at all). Poor Michael was visibly shook and refused to come check on us once we finally received everything to make sure everything was okay. My sister sat parched without another delicious margarita for over 10 minutes before she decided she would do without. I had to get our server's attention for the check, a box for the cats to enjoy, and to speak the manager regarding our concerns. With the nicest tone possible I explained to the manager about the waiter not writing anything down, the complete lack attention to our food which half of was wrong, the server never coming back so I couldn't get the correct dressing. she didnt seem too concerned but offered nothing in compensation, no dessert was offered by staff or management at the end of our meal. I told the server what I said to the management on my way out and he raised his voice to the point of yelling/stuttering at me saying he needed to explain himself, which I promptly cut him off saying he should listen instead because I'm trying to help him. I hate to write this but I was planning on leaving $50 on a $100 tab and our service just wasnt deserving of such. I left $10 to cover the bar and busser which he didn't deserve but I can't conciously make my server tip out from their own pocket. I really should have asked for the bar tender, food runner and busser's attention to tip them myself but after being yelled at for voicing my concern it was best that I just left. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE use this as training reference to make your business better one employee at a time, from server, management and beyond. As a guest who is on the service side 5-7 days a week I just felt as if nothing was done about the situation and I left with utter dissatisfaction. Understandably things happen but from the beginning of forgetting my sister's order, my salad arriving with the wrong dressing, watching my drink die on the bar as he passed it 5x, not bringing everything as ordered, and to top it off watching credit cards being ran instead of fixing our situation was the icing on the cake. A simple gesture of taking that salad off, a free drink or dessert would have made all the difference from ”

“We enjoyed the all-you-can-eat lunch buffet there yesterday. This is an attractive, beautifully appointed restaurant with a quiet atmosphere. (No flat screen TVs at all! Bravo!) We have eaten at many Indian restaurants in different states serving a lunch buffet for a flat price. This is among the best we've tried. Yesterday they served papadams, a fresh, mixed greens salad (prepared more like a slaw), fluffy white rice, a veggie fritter, green beans with coconut, cream-style mixed vegetable dish, tandoori chicken, butter chicken (tomato cream sauce), and a thin noodle & cashew dessert. Plain, buttered naan is included with the meal an we each had a sweet lassi. The staff was friendly and attentive; all dishes were expertly prepared, fresh, tasty, and very satisfying. The price was reasonable for the quality of food. We'd go back.”

“After living in Titusville for three years and saying to my husband “we have to try the Downtown Diner” for that long. We finally did! It was absolutely amazing and the atmosphere of an old time diner was fantastic. Coral, our server was kind, patient and full of knowledge about the menu and the history of the diner. I can’t believe that we waited so long to go. We are already planning a day to try the lunch menu because the breakfasts that we had were so good. I had the eggs Bennie and my husband had the pancakes with eggs and sausage links. We split the small order of biscuits and gravy. Delicious”

“Ake is absolutely brilliant, and I am really picky when it comes to Thai food. What makes Ake stand out is the authenticity that goes into each dish. Ake is the reason I don't make these dishes at home. I can't. They are complex and laborious and I don't have the time or the skills, and I like to cook. And if you like food spicy, I'd still start out at maybe a 3 ... like I said ... it's authentic. Thai cooking, regardless of whether it's an appetizer, main dish or a seemingly simple soup is distinctly Thai. Ake is just that, distinctly authentic Thai cooking.”

“Mamma Rosa's Pizzeria Restaurant 381 Cheney Hwy., Titusville, FL 32780 4 Stars My loyal followers know there is nothing I dislike more than pedestrian Italian food. Not only is the food unpleasant, but the owners are, oftentimes, the most combative and have threatened my life span more than any others. So, when Mamma Rosa's Pizzeria Restaurant popped up on my random name generator, it was with slight trepidation that I set forth. When I walked into this quaint, clean eatery, I first observed the owner, Steven. Steven is about as far from a mesomorph as the Big Boy. Grabbing a table I was soon approached by a gentleman who went by the moniker of Myles. Myles was fantastic in every way a server can be and took my order for some Fettuccine Alfredo, Sausage Parmigiana and one Meat Lovers Pizza. While waiting for Myles to return with my grub, I took a few pictures of the place (minimalism was on full display) and relaxed in the welcoming, family atmosphere. Before too long, Myles brought forth my feast, snapping a few pictures of the order (look at that food!), I proceeded to dig in. I would be remiss if I failed to mention the appetizing aromas assaulting my olfactory nerve. Everything certainly looked and smelled far above the plebeian fodder that passes for Italian food in most clip joints dotting the Space Coast. The first to dance tastefully across my taste buds was the Italian dish from a restaurant in Rome that conquered the world, Fettuccine Alfredo. The perfectly cooked Fettuccine was slathered in some of the creamiest, cheesiest Alfredo sauce that has yet to slide down my gullet. It had the perfect amount of garlic and nice woodsy notes from the cheese. Magnifico! As hard as it was to turn my attention to the Sausage Parmigiana, I forced myself to move on as I was here for a job, not to eat myself into an Alfredo-induced coma. I have to draw your attention to the photos at this point. I mean, just look at that Sausage Parmigiana! As with anything served on a bread base, it all begins with the foundation. I don't know if Mamma Rosa's bakes their bread on-site, but it sure tasted like it. The bun was warm with a crispy exterior and a fluffy, chewy interior. The sausage bedded on top was on par with the bread as this link of meat was to die for. It was sweet, savory, complex in flavor and cooked to perfection. The sauce was tasty and had just enough herbs to compliment the sausage without overpowering it. The parm was fresh, gooey and slightly nutty as all aged parmigiana is. This stuff wasn't top shelf, but it was far removed from the bottom rung of cheap food service cheese product and was obviously the real deal. This brings me to the final item today, the Meat Lover's Pizza. Again, starting at the bottom and working my way up, I found the crust to be delightful. It was your traditional crust, meaning not a deep dish, not stuffed and not thin and crispy. The crust was extremely flavorful, light, and airy and had just the perfect amount of crunch before the give. The toppings were supreme. The sausage was obviously hand-cut and out-of-this-world delicious. The rest of the meats were of the same caliber. This was a top-of-the-line pizza. The Big Boy says, “Finally an Italian restaurant with great owners and great food.””

“I enjoyed what I ordered! All this for $17 during lunch hour. I'm health conscious and follow a religious diet, this place was perfect for those needs. I got the Hibachi chicken with steamed rice and miso soup for $9. And a side of 6 avocado rolls priced fairly at $5. Their steamed rice was fluffy and slightly sticky with no salt, which gave me the chance to salt it myself. The chicken has sauce on the bottom that can be mixed into the rice. This is a meal that a single person will get full to. The chicken texture was just right, and the taste was very flavorful with light teriyaki. The Avocado rolls were perfect with the spicy mayo and a light white sauce on the side, added the crunch flakes on top and it was delish. The miso was a miss for me due to the seaweed as it overpowered the miso flavor. Will still come back for the hibachi☺️”

“Pizza@ Titus Landing, 2510 S. Washington Avenue, Suite 110, Titusville, Florida 3-Stars (Chain Rating) There are not many restaurant ideas that excite me. However, this tiny pizza joint--a relatively new fast-casual franchise that originated in mid-Florida in 2014—is pretty cool. If I had small children, I might come here regularly if I lived in Titusville. Jeffery Jew, the Florida Executive Chef for this and the St. Petersburg and Lake Eola Pizza@ locations, is a former Top Chef contestant who created signature pizzas unique to each one. For example, Pizza@ Tyrone Square in St. Petersburg has a “Beach Drive” pizza. As the Titusville location is across from Kennedy Space Center, it is not shocking to find on its menu a “Rocket Man” pizza, although I went with the also not surprising for our area, “I Dream of Bacon”-named pizza, a bacon cheeseburger-style pizza that goes by “Bacon Double Cheeseburger” on the Lake Eola menu. By whatever name, the crust of this pizza was whimsical and tasty, the cheese was almost ample, and the ingredients were vigorous and delightful. In addition to clever personal sized pizzas with a choice of crust (regular, thick, or rice or cauliflower for the gluten intolerant); and choice of cheese (@Blend, ricotta, mozzarella, cheddar, or vegan); this location offers some decent salads, some “Not-Pizza” menu items, and beer and wine for the grownups. I can’t fail to mention Kaitlyn, who took our order and did an outstanding job. So, if I enjoyed my Pizza@ experience so much, why did I only give it a lukewarm 3-Star rating? It is because in comparing Pizza@ to similar pizza concepts in this category—such as Blaze or Mister01—Pizza@ is not at the top of its class. However, its prices are fair and reasonable, the food prep is quick, and the ingredients are marginally fresh. I apologize to my fans for not being more of the smart-mouthed rascally jackanapes you have come to expect from the Big Boy in this review. But for what it is worth, I liked this little pizza franchise well enough. Maybe Pizza@ does not have the best pizza in Florida, but it's offerings are good enough, and would probably do well in the Melbourne/Palm Bay area. The Big Boy says, “Take the kids or grandkids to Pizza@ Titus Landing for some decent za and a little fun.””

“Orleans Bistro & Bar 2204 S. Washington Ave., Titusville, FL 32780 4.5 Stars Arriving at precisely 12:30 PM, I was expecting at least somewhat of a lunch crowd. What I walked into was a ghost town sans the blowing tumbleweeds. As I've said before, an empty place at peak hours does not usually bode well. However, formicating about the bar were a few of Titusville's Finest (wink, wink) so the place wasn't completely void of life. Lliana is our server today. I don't know if it's the fact that this place is bereft of life or the obnoxiously loud music blasting from somewhere, but Lliana moves like she is stuck in quicksand. She performed her waitress duties to a “T”; it just took forever to get there. I asked for an order of Etouffee with Shrimp and some Creole Cheesy Grits with Fish. Thankfully, the quicksand did not seem to extend into the kitchen as my food was out in no time. Snapping the mandatory pics, I got to work. First up on the Big Boy's palate was a forkful of the Etouffee with Shrimp. Etouffee literally means smothered or suffocated giving way to the popular Cajun cooking method of “smothering.” It is basically a seafood stew served over rice. The chef nailed this offering of the classic Cajun dish, as I found the flavors to be complex, full-bodied, and downright delicious! The shrimp was undoubtedly not of the fresh variety, but that didn't matter in the least as it was nestled in a sauce of onions, celery, bell peppers and Cajun heat. The Shrimp was tender, succulent and inundated with tastiness. It was all I could do to move on from this delightful dish, but I wasn't here to enjoy myself, so to speak; I had a job to do. To that end, I turned my focus to the Creole Cheesy Grits with Fish. After one taste of this, I knew it was going to be a go-to place when craving food influenced by the swamps of Louisiana. Consisting of yellow stone ground grits, Swiss, provolone, and cheddar cheese topped with bell peppers and Cajun spices. This was a hard-to-beat dish. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the fun, Mardi Gras-themed menu. After all, just like it's always Carnival in Brazil...it's always Mardi Gras in New Orleans! The Big Boy says, “You don't need to bring beads, just your appetite for a tasty tour of Crescent City Cuisine.””

“Village Inn-Titusville, FL- 4 Stars "O-oh, back on the chain gang (ho-ah)..." - The Pretenders As you might be able to tell from the opening quote if not the name of the restaurant to be reviewed in this post, I am back in chain restaurant mode. Hey, I know it's not for all of us, but enough of us so that it needs to be done. This time my random place generator spewed forth Village Inn located in Titusville, FL. They have establishments in 18 states (including Alaska) with the majority of them in Colorado, I guess stoners like their food? Well, with that many eateries in that many states, they must be doing something right. Pulling into the sparsely filled parking lot, I have to admit, some doubt crept in, but I pushed it aside and entered. The place was clean, friendly, and exuded a homey welcome. As I was taking my seat, Rebecca, the waitress took my drink order. Now that is prompt service! She then proceeded to cheerfully and professionally answer all my questions and then took my order of one Ultimate Skillet, a Short Stack of Pancakes and a Reuben with a side of steamed broccoli. The Ultimate Skillet contained frozen, not fresh hash browns, ham and veggies. However, for a chain restaurant, I am impressed with the execution as it was pulled off flawlessly with perfectly cooked eggs. The flapjacks were a scrunch overcooked, but oh so buttery and milky on the palate. What can I say about The Reuben? It looked great but was not all that good. I think it might be an ingredient issue as it certainly was not an execution issue. Maybe it was the end of the meat or maybe not as high grade as I am used to, regardless, it was not tasty in the least. The side of broccoli, on the other hand, was fresh, crisp and delightfully prepared. The Big Boy says, "For a flawlessly executed meal in a family-friendly environment and budget, this Village Inn will do ya just fine!" #bigboy #bigboydiningout #iamthebigboy”

“Gold Lion Bar and Deli - Titusville - 4 Stars (very limited circumstances) The beauty of providing this great service to my followers is in certain extenuating circumstances I can be wowed by a restaurant/bar so much that I end up throwing the usual criteria out the window and deliver a fun experience. I am a Brevard County native. I mention this because for years, Titusville was the orphan of the county, while South Brevard sucked up all the population and tax base. However, in 1995, I worked for six months of my life in Titusville. During those six months, I found several very good dining establishments - places that just did not exist in South Brevard at the time. After re-working how I chose restaurants, my first two reviews were La Cita Country Club and the Gold Lion. When I announced I was heading to the Gold Lion, several T-ville local friends warned me not to go. However, the Big Boy can handle himself, so I was not worried about what I might walk into. Upon entering the bar, I was greeted by a musician with a keyboard playing Elton John cover tunes. That made me think, "Come on! How tough could this place be?" As I looked around at the other patrons I noticed an eclectic mix of humanity all enjoying themselves. The bartender Jacob, despite having a packed bar, acknowledged me and took my drink order. He told me this was taco special night - $1 for two beef tacos. I was like, "Really? Okay, what a great loss leader," figuring they are giving away tacos to keep people drinking and make their money on the alcohol. So I ordered two tacos and a scotch rocks. The drink came with over 2 ounces of booze. I immediately thought "Oh boy, here is a $7.00 drink for sure." My tacos arrived and I have to admit, they were no great shakes, but they were 10 times better than Taco Bell and one step above the taco kits at the grocery store. I ate one taco and finished my drink. I asked Jacob for the total, to which he replied "two tacos and one drink......$3.50." I couldn't believe it and asked him to repeat the total. He responded again with "$3.50." I gave a hearty laugh and left $10.00. I am not sure how they can stay open at these prices, but you can't go wrong at that price point as a customer. At this rate, Big Boy says find out when taco night is, and give Gold Lion a try”

“Our server, Savana, was great. She really did her best, but I think the service problem was with the kitchen. Appetizers came out quickly, tasted great and the portion sizes were good. 3 entrees came out after a 30 minute wait, but the other 4 took 45 minutes AFTER the first ones were served. Needless to say, the first 3 were finished before the rest of us got our entrees. We ordered dessert and that took another 30+ minutes for 2 slices of orange cake and 2 slices of key lime pie. Savanna mentioned she had to cut the cakes herself. There was one table of 2 when we arrived and 2 tables of 3 or 4 Which arrived after us and got served before us. If you're looking for food that is okay , Go visit, if you're looking for exceptional service. It probably should not be on the top of your list. Poutine was great, chicken casadilla was very good, ceasar salad Lettuce was a little old, bolognaise was good and the penne Alfredo was very good.”

The best part of the whole thing was listening to the gal taking a phone order while I waited for my to-go. I wish I got her name, but she was darker skinned with extremely long braids. She was obviously taking an extremely large phone order from people who didn't know what they wanted and kept her on the phone for a hot minute. She had the patience and kindness of a saint! Fabulous customer service. That young lady is a keeper!”

“Went to this location today. Ordered my food. It was $11.02. Gave the lady at the drive thru $12. She asked if I have 2 cents. said no. she hands me my food and drink and says have a nice day.. um, Where's my change? she claims I only gave her $11. I asked her again and she said have a nice day. this is theft..and Yes, I will be pulling a Karen and speaking to a Manager tomorrow! learn to count!”

“This was my first time, I wanted to see what all the hype was about!
On their menu all the burgers show 2 patties. Not everyone wants a 2 patty burger! I ordered the deluxe burger with one patty, fries & onion rings to-go. The burger was just ok, and I love a good burger! When I got home both the fries & onion rings were still hot but the burger was barely warm. I was turned off with the greasy bag I was given with my food inside.
The young lady who took my order was very helpful, helping me navigate the menu. I will most likely try Culver's again to see if they do better!”

“Went to the ‘Golden Hour’ hour pop-up in Orlando and the Crudo and Shrimp Tartine was one of the top foods my husband and I have eaten this year - Amazing food, amazing service, and you can tell the chefs know what’s up! Will recommend to everyone!”
