“The Cafe Paradiso Bistro & Social Club 337 S. Washington Ave., Titusville, FL 32796 3.5 Stars In the downtown area of the bristling metropolis known as Titusville, FL sits a rather ambitious little joint with a name reminiscent of an old Fonda/Stewart movie and a classic Italian coming-of-age flick, The Cafe Paradiso Bistro & Social Club. The first thing I noticed upon entry was the eclectic décor. It's almost too busy, but it's not. I found it to be bright, cheerful and inviting. Steven is the waiter for the meal. Steven was charming, congenial and professional. He seemed to be slightly hearing impaired, noticing that I adjusted my speech volume, and Steven answered all of my questions regarding the menu. In regards to the menu, I found it to be pioneering in it's flavor combinations, however, there was a lot of crossover. Executive Chef Elisandrya De Sade Way (Chef Gypsy) is one to watch. She is extremely creative in her desire to bring the Space Coast unique, yet well-known meals. I asked for a cup of their Jambalaya, some Haitian Beef Griot and a glass of Tropical Hibiscus unsweetened tea. Kicking back and enjoyin' the digs, I snapped a few pics of the interior and eagerly awaited Steven's return. Before too long (I do time this), Steven was seen bringing forth my fare. The warm aroma of the Jambalaya preceded him and had my mouth watering in anticipation. Taking the requisite pictures of the food, I got to work. First up was the cup of Jambalaya. For those not in the know, Jambalaya is an American Creole and Cajun rice dish of Provencal French, African and Spanish influence. Done right, it is savory, spicy and scrumptious. A truly wonderful belly-warming dish. Chef Gypsy's take on this Louisiana staple included seasoned chicken, spicy Andouille sausage and savory vegetables. However, the all-important rice was a bit on the overcooked side. I chalked this up to sitting in a steamer/warmer. The flavor did not suffer due to this, but it did detract from the overall enjoyment of the Jambalaya. Moving on, I found the Haitian Beef Griot to be the opposite. In this case, the rice was slightly undercooked. This makes one ask, was the rice cooker on the fritz, or did someone become distracted for a minute in the kitchen? The chunks of sirloin were tender and perfectly seasoned and the accompanying Haitian Pikliz (slaw) and Caribbean black beans were outstanding and had my taste-buds breaking into an Affranchi. I would be remiss if I failed to mention the incredible flavor of the Hibiscus tea. This was a true delight on the palate and perfect for washing down a few forkfuls of the slaw. I have to say, if the rice in each dish had been prepared and served to the standard of the Pikliz, this would have been a solid 4.5 stars. However, as it is, the Big Boy says, “3.5 stars is still a good first date or family outing. Oh, and keep your eye on Chef Gypsy. I expect things to get better and more ambitious!”“

“A nice little place with a decent offering of beer, wine, and cocktails. The staff is very friendly and were incredibly accommodating to help my friends and me enjoy a cigar with our beverages. The street traffic is a little disconcerting with a constant flow of vehicles passing by whose drivers can’t seem to read speed limit signs.“

“Want to give a shout out. I had ordered catering for our Titusville Chamber of Commerce Luncheon. There was a little miscommunication with the time the ordered needed to be done, BUT the staff got it done. They worked together as a team and made it happen. The food was amazing and everybody at the Chamber really enjoyed it. If you need catering I do highly suggest the taco's. I got the chicken, pork and the cauliflower (which everybody was surprised it was cauliflower) As a Personal Trainer & Nutrition Coach these can also make great "meal prep" options“

“We recently discovered this gem, incredibly cold beer, amazing sangrias, and so far the food trucks have been delicious. They do not serve food, but feature food trucks certain nights. The live music has been great, but honestly they have a solid jukebox and shuffleboard, so we are pleased. Honestly, I wish I would have found this place sooner.“

“First time at Lazy Gator! Absouletly fun and entertaining. They had amazing service with a smile, not to mention a ton of patience dealing with a nefirious drunken woman, who thought she was Mike Tyson. I would have to say they handeled it very proffesionally. And I am a fisherman and your tabels where refrreshing and nice to me. Do you guys ever have any hip hop shows there? Any way you want to have a ice, ice, cold beer, and kick it with some good folks, hell better grab your lover, and head down to The Lazy Gator. Where the beers are cold and the seats are short.“

“Gold Lion Bar and Deli - Titusville - 4 Stars (very limited circumstances) The beauty of providing this great service to my followers is in certain extenuating circumstances I can be wowed by a restaurant/bar so much that I end up throwing the usual criteria out the window and deliver a fun experience. I am a Brevard County native. I mention this because for years, Titusville was the orphan of the county, while South Brevard sucked up all the population and tax base. However, in 1995, I worked for six months of my life in Titusville. During those six months, I found several very good dining establishments - places that just did not exist in South Brevard at the time. After re-working how I chose restaurants, my first two reviews were La Cita Country Club and the Gold Lion. When I announced I was heading to the Gold Lion, several T-ville local friends warned me not to go. However, the Big Boy can handle himself, so I was not worried about what I might walk into. Upon entering the bar, I was greeted by a musician with a keyboard playing Elton John cover tunes. That made me think, "Come on! How tough could this place be?" As I looked around at the other patrons I noticed an eclectic mix of humanity all enjoying themselves. The bartender Jacob, despite having a packed bar, acknowledged me and took my drink order. He told me this was taco special night - $1 for two beef tacos. I was like, "Really? Okay, what a great loss leader," figuring they are giving away tacos to keep people drinking and make their money on the alcohol. So I ordered two tacos and a scotch rocks. The drink came with over 2 ounces of booze. I immediately thought "Oh boy, here is a $7.00 drink for sure." My tacos arrived and I have to admit, they were no great shakes, but they were 10 times better than Taco Bell and one step above the taco kits at the grocery store. I ate one taco and finished my drink. I asked Jacob for the total, to which he replied "two tacos and one drink......$3.50." I couldn't believe it and asked him to repeat the total. He responded again with "$3.50." I gave a hearty laugh and left $10.00. I am not sure how they can stay open at these prices, but you can't go wrong at that price point as a customer. At this rate, Big Boy says find out when taco night is, and give Gold Lion a try“
