“The Heroes Grill, 1300 South St., Titusville, FL 32780 4 Stars It seems that my random name generator has led me to yet another greasy spoon restaurant catering to the first responder and veteran community. I have nothing against them, as I was once a first responder myself. However, like everyone else, they deserve good food, which has yet to be found in such establishments (though that's about to change, but I digress). If I didn't review restaurants, I would never go to a place that prioritizes one segment of the population over another. Most of these places shamelessly try to wrap themselves in patriotism, making non-"patriots" feel ashamed. It gives off the same vibe as any hollow act of virtue signaling. The owner, Leshawn, works at the front counter. She is an exceptionally charming lady with excellent customer service skills. She deals with her patrons impeccably and is a true "people person." I asked Lovely Leshawn for a Cheesesteak with jalapenos and a Gyro burger. At this point, a toothless Titusvillian attempted to correct my proper pronunciation of Gyro (in Greek, the "G" is silent, so the word is pronounced as Yee-rrrrrro, with a rolled "r"), using the incorrect pronunciation of Gyro (as hero), and then proceeded to mock me for it. Leshawn, with the calmness of the eye of a hurricane, informed the misguided octogenarian that I did pronounce it correctly. Vindication is a beautiful feeling. Hey, I've been divorced a few times; it's not often that a woman admits I'm right. Anyway, the Cheesesteak with jalapenos was outstanding. The bread was soft, the meat was tasty and seasoned with a decoction that instantly transported my taste buds to the City of Brotherly Love. The jalapenos added just enough kick to remind me that this was not your average Cheesesteak. Finding such flavorful and authentic food this far down the Eastern Seaboard was a delightful surprise. As delightful as the Cheesesteak was on the palate, the Gyro burger fell completely and utterly flat. It was enjoyable, but lacked seasoning. The bun was soft and fresh, and the tomato and lettuce were fine. The meat was perfectly cooked, although it lacked the distinct Gyro flavor. It could have been the tzatziki sauce that was lacking, but I'm not sure. Regardless, the Big Boy says, "This place is well worth a try. The food is well-prepared and enjoyable."“

“I've been wondering why this place has mixed reviews, and I get it now. Firstly, everything is very good - the fries are perfect, all the ingredients are fresh, and the food is made to order. I support that 100%. Is it pricier than fast food? Yes. Is it fast food? No; more fast casual, which is great, and makes the wait worth it.Ironically, the burgers are the worst thing they do. By "worst" I still mean good; it tasted great, and it has great flavor. The burger had a great crust. It was expertly cooked. The patties are incredibly thin. I ordered a single because it was my first visit and I didn't know how large they would be. I absolutely needed a second patty. Without it, it's less of a burger and more of a beef sandwich. Each bite was 90% toppings, which was disappointing. If you're a fan of big burgers, this is not it. Which is fine; not every place needs them. But too thin is an issue when it's a $7 burger. The cheese was perfect. It wasn't too thick and it wasn't gummy. It melted exactly as it should have, and it tasted like cheese - I hate when there's cheese on a burger and you can't even tell. The restaurant was incredibly clean and the service was great. All three people working there knew the place like the back of their hand. This is definitely a location that knows what they're doing, and they do it well.I did not order a milkshake, but the person I was with did. They said it was perfect, which is high praise from them. They can be pretty picky about shakes.Again, I don't want to come off combative and I don't have any complaints about my visit. If you like thinner burger, you should absolutely give this place a try.“
