“Makay Chopbar catered my wedding last weekend and everything was a hit! Our menu included jollof with veggies, spring rolls, plantains, meatpies, grilled chicken, tomato goat stew, beef suya, and egusi! We barely had leftovers and all the guests raved how flavorful, tender, hot, and delicious the food was to honor my husband’s culture. It was a joy to see folks who never had this food going back for seconds and even grabbing to-go containers.

The communication was impeccable and the chef accommodated special requests for food preparation to use traditional ingredients. The team arrived on time, created a lovely display, and the servers were so friendly. They also cleaned the area very well before departing.

Next time we’re in town we’ll definitely order food and even try the their shipping option to VA! Paul runs a honest and affordable catering business. We greatly appreciate the entire staff for making our wedding day extra special!“

“This is some of the best African food I've tasted but the portion size for the price needs revision. I paid $17 for 4 pieces of goat because a few pieces of it was pure bone with no meat and the egusi soup came in a four oz container. It was $47 not including tip and uber fees for a tiny soup four goat pieces fried plantain and a pounded yam on uber eats. Usually when I pay this much I have enough food for breakfast but here I am hungry and looking at my bank debit and having to get Uber eats elsewhere for my breakfast. But the flavor is there.“

“While I'm usually quite particular, I must say the suya and jollof rice were delightful. The service was commendable, the waitresses were bad AF and met all my expectations surprisingly. The hookah surpassed my expectations with its unexpectedly smooth flavor. If you're in Atlanta, it's definitely worth a visit. The ambiance is sexy, and the music creates a great vibe. I'd rate it 10/10.“

“Just wanted to leave a review of this spot that I found on my lunch break. First time to the area so I wanted to try something new and flavorful. I asked the woman what was good to try. She said the goat spaghetti or chicken spaghetti which both looked amazing. Since I had a taste for rice she recommended this dish. I don’t know what it’s called but it was phenomenal! It is beef, rice, tomato, and salad. The flavor is unmatched to anything I’ve eaten in a very long time, and I’m PICKY. I would definitely give 5 stars. The sauce was spicy but in a good way. I didn’t want it to end when I finished. So good and very worth the price.“

“I’ve now been 3x and the food and atmosphere was a hit. The most recent time we went for live music and loved it. It’s an amazing date spot or just to go with a friend. I’ve had something different to eat each time and enjoyed it.

The calypso wings *chef’s kiss*! The lamb chops were tasty. The snapper fish is great if you like a little spice. My husband loved my jollof rice more than his rice and beans. It’s a preference thing because i enjoyed both!

“Had their signature amala, and it wasn't up to par. It was lumpy, but still edible. Liked the variety of dishes though, went with a large party that included kids, and everyone was able to order food they wanted. Service was okay, the servers were patient with taking the orders. Don't know if the lumpy amala was a one-off or not.“

“Stumbled upon this restaurant after looking for something nearby that was open late so I could eat and get some work done. It definitely was not a regular restaurant, I think it gave more of a lounge vibe, I got my work done anyway. The food was great. The Braised whole fish was enough for 2 and I ate it all lol. The rice I had was jollof she said, I've had jollof many times and I'm also a Chef, trust me when I say this rice was top tier, not sure if they have it everyday because I saw something else in the other picture reviews. The music definitely made me stay longer than I generally would have at the bar. Congratulations to the restaurant owners on their new journey, you have gained a new customer. “The lamb chops were amazing. They were cooked perfectly, seasoned well without the glaze overpowering the dish. The sides included are yellow rice and spinach and everything was flavorful. The DJ did a great job of playing a good mix of hip hop and R & B.“

“I briefly visited the place for lunch. Really enjoyed the taste of King fish and Zarruq meat dish with rice. They have a special orange drink which is combination of soda with some spices.
