“We were in the area and hadn't visited this restaurant before, but knowing Mellow Mushroom wouldn't disappoint, we decided to check it out. The restaurant was very clean and bright. As we walked in, Ida greeted us and told us to pick our spot. Ida was quick to take our order and so pleasant to talk to...in fact I noted two kitchen staff bring out to go orders while we were there, and both, Amanda and unfortunately I didn't hear anyone call out the young man's name, but both of them provided exemplary customer service. I don't say that often, I'm a retired service level manager, so that word is exactly appropriate. They even opened the box and asked their customer if it looked good to them and thanked them for visiting. Now the food, we ordered the house special, of course it was excellent, and they didn't skimp on the toppings, the bruschetta was delicious. In fact, we ate it and some pizza slices before I even thought about taking pictures to share. It's roughly a 35-minute drive from my home, but we'll be back soon. This is a suburban locale so it's missing the authentic gritty urban gentrified "chic" the other one has by spades. In Atl you are in an urban sort of industrial area near the cool lofts and the seedy bar and there's some hobos walking around plus the Ga Tech students staff etc. the inside is bright busy and the view into the kitchen transports you out of the usual Atl blandness. The Avalon location the interiors don't work as well. Of course everyone is familiar with the ridiculous table situation but once you're seated you get the pizza quick and easy. It's the same in both locations. Otherwise the pizza is just as great here.“
