“The Chinese food here is so good & is always ready in 10 minutes. The seasonings aren’t super heavy, everything is fresh, and the quantity is great for the prices. This place isn’t very aesthetically pleasing, so I wouldn’t dine in. It’s a great grab & go on a Friday night. Will be returning & absolutely recommend!“

“I really wish this Panda Express would focus more on the freshness and quality of the food. It seems like they prepare way too much food at one time, so some of it ends up sitting out for too long and doesn’t taste fresh.

I’ve also noticed what appears to be older food being mixed in or placed on top of freshly prepared food, which is disappointing. When customers are paying for their meals, the food should taste fresh—not like it has been sitting under the heat lamps for hours.

I enjoy Panda Express, but this location really needs to do a better job with portioning how much food they prepare at once and replacing older food instead of mixing it with a fresh batch. Freshness would make a HUGE difference in the overall experience.“

“Hands down, THE BEST American Chinese takeout (though they hand a few tables of you eat in) this side of Chatham County. Maybe even in all of Chatham. Service and food have been fast and excellent since they opened forever ago. Prices are, and always have been reasonable, especially considering the portions and quality of the food. “Exactly what you want from Chinese takeout. Hot, fresh, tasty! I live about 15 minutes away and when I got home it was still hot. The chicken was perfect not overcooked like everywhere else you can tell they change there oil. Rice was fresh too not stale. My only complaint was the small container of sweet and sour sauce I use a lot a lot of it so I wanted a bigger one but I assumed. Ill ask next time. “The food was delicious, but the waiter's attitude was terrible. I heard from a friend that they forced us to tip, but I didn't believe it at first. Today, after experiencing it myself, I realized that my friend was right. The service attitude was terrible. They didn't respond when I called them, and they were noisy and rude. “We always enjoy the food from here. Its exactly what you expect and a lot of food for the amount you pay. Skip the fried rice, get general tso's and the wanton soup. You could feed a family with one order if you don't eat a gluttonous portion size. If you're really hungry it could still last you 2 meals. Good health score and the esthetic isn't updated in the least but it feels like every old Chinese place from a big city amd that's what I like about it. Humble. Good. Cheap.“

“First of all I burnt my gosh darn mouth that’s how hot fresh it is not much of an atmosphere but who cares take it to go in the last 10 minutes to cool off. The general Tso’s chicken was delicious and some of the best lo mein that I’ve ever had you can substitute that on the lunch special for an extra dollar the lunch specialist served Monday through Saturday from 11 to 3 with a soda or an eggroll the lady up brought is really cute and has a awesome laugh

“This is really a take out but they do have some tables and it is air-conditioned. Do not judge by the outside. I had a favorite take out back in Florida but had not found anything quite the same. This place is even better. The orange chicken and General Tso is awesome, the sauce is so fresh. The portion size is large . We love the orange chicken and can easily feed two people. I could not make it at home for this price. We love eating here at least once a week. Do not be afraid to try this amazing little hole in the wall.“

“Ok so the outside doesn't look appealing at all. the inside looks like a regular Chinese spot. The person who answers the phone and takes your order is sooooo professional. She needs to do customer service calls. The guy who takes the payment is cool too. Now I went for the chicken wings and if you liked Bamboo Gardens Fried Wings these are just as good I promise you will thank me later . I actually loved their wings. The price is like $8-9. The brown fried rice is a No for me but that's just in Savannah all the Chinese restaurants out here have this terrible brown fried rice. Im looking for the yellow rice like back home in NYC.“

If you’re looking for a classic “pile-it-high and try a little bit of everything” buffet experience, Chinatown Buffet checks most of the boxes — just don’t expect a luxury dining experience with valet parking and imported panda-approved recipes. This is your typical Chinese buffet, and honestly, sometimes that’s exactly what you’re in the mood for.
The good news? Several dishes were actually pretty tasty, and the staff stayed friendly and attentive throughout the meal. Drinks stayed filled, plates disappeared quickly, and nobody gave us the “please leave, you’ve been here too long” look after round three at the buffet line. The selection wasn’t massive compared to some larger buffets, but there was still enough variety to keep everyone happy. Bonus points for surprisingly clean restrooms — always a solid sign in any buffet adventure.
Pricing landed about average for the area at around $19 per person on a Saturday afternoon, which feels fair considering today’s buffet prices and the ability to go back for “just one more” plate six different times.
Now for the not-so-crispy side of the review. The fryer oil definitely seemed overdue for retirement. Several fried items like egg rolls and chicken came out looking darker than expected — less “golden crispy perfection” and more “well done with a side of mystery.” Some of the chicken also leaned toward overcooked territory. On the bright side, at least nobody was worried about undercooked poultry, so there’s that.
The building itself also feels a little dated, and parking is somewhat limited. Thankfully, the restaurant wasn’t overly busy during our visit, so finding a spot wasn’t too painful.
Overall, Chinatown Buffet delivers a decent, no-frills buffet experience with friendly service, acceptable variety, and a few genuinely tasty dishes. It’s not the kind of place that will change your life, but it might satisfy that random Saturday craving for sesame chicken, noodles, and questionable decisions involving a fourth plate.“
