“It started as a small comment while driving past in the middle of the night. “BARBECUE SHACK.” There, next to a convenience store, was a small wooden building marked BBQ Being from New York, there’s barbecue around... even good barbecue; but there is only so much that can go into the “big city restaurants”. Family is in the name, and family it is. We were treated as nothing less, and the love put into the food showed it. Massive portions, mouth watering tastes; several hours later, the full smoky flavors are still dancing in my mouth. I wish I had thought to take a picture, but when we’d had a taste... well, the rest of the platter didn’t last long enough anyways. Honestly, words can’t even properly express how happy this food makes me, and we’ll be making a point to come back whenever we’re in Savannah.“

“Kind of a "hole in the wall" and by any means is that a bad thing but as we know these places always have the best food. Smokey's in Garden City and in my opinion has the best ribs ever. I also buy their sauce in jars I told her she should market it I have been going here at least 10 years. Tammy the owner is one of the best humans I've ever met, I got real sick a few years ago came in one day and couldn't hardly walk she gave me a hug and offered to take me to the doctor anytime I needed a ride, she is a wonderful Christian woman.“

Their BBQ is very good as is their seafood. How can this happen, but it does! I love their food! I hope the recent loss of their owner will not effect the operation of the restaurant. “We had a wonderful dinner around 5 pm Thursday before it got too busy. This restaurant has a contract with the new Hyundai factory to feed the factory workers so the overall feel of the restaurant is different from your typical kbbq. I felt like I was in Korea eating a meal. The side dishes were different, (warm sauteed radish I think, sesame spinach, and fish cake) with a side of napa cabbage kimchi. We ordered the marinated beef and pork belly. We asked for lettuce for wraps. Instead they provide if you ask, a refillable lettuce onion salad with vinegar that also pairs well with the meat. We also received the steamed egg with our meal. The rice was the same kind I had in Korea- heukmi bap(Korean purple rice/black rice). For my husband and me, the amount of food was a great amount. I was very full! They were very sweet to give us a probiotic drink at the end of our meal to aid in digestion. Keep in mind that this place just opened about a month ago in October/ November 2023 and they are only open to the public for dinner. The main proteins I saw available were beef, pork, and eel. I do not recall chicken or tofu but there might have been a stew in the meals part of the menu. The meal will cost less if they cook for you but will cost more for you to cook at the table fyi. Ironic but that is how you kbbq so enjoy respectfully. Excellent hospitality. Will be back soon!“

“Calm and pleasant atmosphere. Always great food and willing to make it right if not cooked as ordered. Service is attentive but not overbearing. We enjoyed delicious ribs, pork chops, steak, shrimp, mushrooms and warm bread. All were prepared tender, hot and juicy. The sides were not disappointing at all. Relaxing and tasty meal experience.“
