“Royal Peasant is located near Five Points, south of UGA. There is street parking in the area or you can park at the Fire Station for two hours.

This is a good English pub. They have done a great job of decorating the inside, giving it that genuine feel. And the server was attentive and answered questions well. The food dragged it down in my rating. My daughter had the lamb vindaloo, which came with very little lamb but lots of rice and sauce. I had the Bangers and Mash, which was presented very well but the bangers weren’t top notch. It may have been the turmeric in the cabbage, now that I think about it. My wife had the Royale with Cheese, which was cooked correctly and tasted like… a burger. So it goes.

I will say that the Korean BBQ pork belly starter was great! I highly recommend it.

All that aside- for Athens, this is probably the best English Pub experience you will get! I may return in the future to give it a second try.

One thing I noticed: the outside was heavily populated by students, while the inside was populated by non-student (adult) locals. And the inside people hung out rather than eat and run. That says something!”

“Cute little place close to Prince!! Solid food - we loved the Founder pizza, recommended by our server Han. The restaurant itself is comfortable and spacious with a nice homey vibe. I’ll be back during football season for sure!! Incredible hospitality and quick service.”

“Perfect downtown location!! Super yummy bagel sandwiches!! I didn’t even know you could steam a bagel and this place 100% proves why you should!! Very yummy and filling. “My favourite out of a bucket full of great restaurants in Athens. It's a counter top order but someone delivers your meal in quick time and hot. But the food is why you come here. Southern through and through. There is not a thing on the menu I wouldn't bring home for dinner or just can't wait and order in. We ordered Christmas dinner from the Preacher and everyone said AMEN! The fried chicken is mouthwatering juicy good. The Pot Roast is just like your grandmother cooked it for hours. The Collard Greens, sweet potatoes, black eyed peas are scrumptious. Just go there. It's terrific.”
