About Curry House Coco Ichibanya

Coco Ichibanya is a popular curry house that offers a delightful Japanese curry experience. Customers appreciate the great service and reasonable prices, making it a go-to choice in Hawaii. The menu includes a variety of options, such as sausage curry with fried shrimp, pork cutlet kimchi curry, and chicken cutlets curry udon spicy, catering to different tastes. The food is flavorful, generously portioned, and not overly spicy, ensuring a satisfying meal for all visitors.

Customers have praised the good curry at a good price, with the hot curry not being too spicy for those who don't enjoy intense heat. The restaurant now accepts card and mobile payments, although with a 3% upcharge to cover the fees. Parking is available in the nearby garage, with an elevator and curb cutouts for wheelchair accessibility.

While the chicken katsu is considered great, some reviews mention that the tonkatsu had a burnt taste, possibly due to oil management. This was a letdown for some customers, especially considering the restaurant’s Japanese roots. However, many still appreciate the attentive customer service and the clean, well-maintained ambiance of the restaurant, where they can enjoy the delicious curry aroma. Overall, Coco Ichibanya remains a beloved spot for those craving Japanese curry in the area.

I love this place. Chicken katsu curry with cheddar cheese, extra chili powder and fukujinzuke, and a side of corn creme croquettes! Please don't ever close down, like the Ala Moana and University Ave. locations. If you do, please open one in Kahala Mall!
Good food, bad service. The manager-like guy in the kitchen was the only one that was welcoming. Servers were squatting down, chatting, and didn’t even notice I was there and they barely speak to you
Since there not a whole lot of place for curry, this is one of the best options for cheaper curries. Honestly this place is quite small so it may take some time to be get a table, and space was kind of tight. Taste of curry was good although it became more salty along the way. My mouth was really dry after the meal, so really consider about adding the spice powder.
