“Amazing setting, amazing food! Service was great but Brandon, the sommelier was really great! Fun guy, got the vibe right away. Will definitely be back next time we are on Maui! My only note is we arrived quite early for our table with the expectation of grabbing a drink and taking some photos outside but our table was ready, which was great in many ways but it it would have been nice to be given a few minutes outside on the way to being seated. It is such a gorgeous setting and even with a little rain, we would have loved a bit more time. We’ll plan better for our next visit! Overall 5 stars!!”

“Not your average cinnamon roll and pizza joint! Best in the world cinnamon rolls (I’m a 25 yr cop-I know my pastries!!)! Fantastic fresh pizza is a must have. But the Aloha spirit washes over this place and spills out into the streets like the smell of freshly made cinnamon rolls. After the tragic Maui fires, Papi’s c rolls and pizza were given out free…yes free! To visitors and displaced local fire victims alike. For weeks! One should note: the tip jar over floweth in return…as it should be. Aloha is reciprocal and magnified here. It’s not just a great place to eat. It’s a great place to be. The spirit of aloha is not the only spirit in this place. The Holy Spirit is so present you just feel well and good for having been there and participating in the example displayed. Be goodly, be Godly, live a life of aloha with good thoughts, good prayers and good deeds. Take care of your community your community will take care of you. All that, and the best cinnamon rolls ever.”

“This is a nice dinner stop right on the beach, which you can wander while you’re waiting for your reservation! (and you will need a reservation!) The menu is very similar to Duke’s and Hula Grill since they are owned by the same people, which also means they have the delicious hula pie here for dessert. Of those three locations, this was probably my least favorite meal I got, but it was still very good. I ordered the rib/chicken plate. They also had the most expensive menu items of the three, including snow crab for $130. Servers weren’t as friendly here as at Duke’s or Hula Grill but they seemed busy and stressed on the night we came. Also, The Westin will give you a card for a free hula pie if you are staying there!”

“This was our first experience at old Lahaina Luau and I have to say that it is way better than the ones at the big hotels, despite not having fire poi! Plenty to do if you are early and then just enjoy all of the food and drink, once you have watched the pig being excavated from its cooking. The staff were all so friendly, and yet so professional and efficient at the same time. We will definitely back!”
“Amazing people - my first stop in Maui and we really felt the aloha here! So impressed with the food here! The meats were tender and cooked perfectly. We could really tell the amount of pride that went into every dish. They have a small area to sit that is shared with other trucks. Mahalo for the Ono eats ~Aloha”

“Every item here at a Merienda Maui food truck was delicious. The only mistake we made was not eating here sooner, since we would have returned to try more of the menu.We selected two types of tacos, the Shrimp and the Thai Beef Tacos. The shrimp tacos are served with a cabbage slaw, a ginger sesame dressing (not a strong flavor), gochujang aioli (dominant flavor that worked well with the shrimp), and some pickled red onions on top. Somewhat simple but all flavors combine well, the shrimp stands out with the aioli, and it has a tropical sense to it. The Thai Beef Tacos use a Thai marinade on the beef (sourced from Maui, though I couldn't tell the difference from regular beef in these chunks in a taco). Beyond that it's a common taco with a tomato salad (pico de gallo), jalapeño, cilantro, and mint (rather than a common diced onion pairing). The marinade infused into each piece of beef and truly carried the dish. I would have eaten it without the garnishes, though they do help fill out the taco. I also thought this was the most basic item we ordered, and would want to try out other items before repeating this.Lastly the Phili-bistek Sando with fries was the true star of the show. It reads as a cheesesteak with bell peppers and onions, and Mayo/chimichurri sauce on top. Yet I think this meat was also marinated, since I can't conceive how much umami was oozing from this burger. It is hands down the best cheesesteak I have every had...and I've been to Philadelphia. I found other recipes online that use a soy marinade to prepare the beef (tapa beef seems to be the Filipino name), and this sounds like it tasted. There was a lot of beef pieces, we shared the burger along 3 people, and I think that the circular shape made it seem larger than if it had been on a longer hoagie bread. Onion jam rather then regular onions would keep the tastebuds working, the Japanese Mayo would introduce both tangy and sweet flavors, and the chimichurri would add parsley, cilantro, and garlic notes. The burger was messy, but worth it. And the fries were extra crispy, similar to In-N-Out double fried fries but thicker. These work perfectly with just ketchup. We considered the Umami fries, which have gochijang and Mayo and Furikake at the same time, and I think all that sauce would reduce the crispiness of the fries. I would still try it, but the fries are top notch and a quick dip in ketchup is all that is needed. The Okonomiyaki Brussel sprouts also sound like an amazing Asian take on the vegetable and something to try next time.”

“Decent vegan food restaurant. Not many Jain options but they can customize a couple of dishes but without the sauces. Pro tip: Jain options can be customized upon request at least a day in advance.”

“This was one of my favorite things to eat here on the island. The sorbet and the super fresh fruit in a pineapple bowl was absolute perfection! 5+⭐️ #mauifruitninja #superdelicious”
“I'm a bit particular about my coffee and Kraken was one of my favorite coffee places in Kihei other than the green coffee shop which was great too!! The coffee wasn't watery (I find that to be an issue at a lot of places these days) and it was genuinely good!! Nice little spot.”

“This place has a small amount of tables in their gazebo area, so you may have to wait a bit to be seated. However, the wait is worth it as the food is delicious, and they serve breakfast/lunch at any time of the day.Their staff is very friendly, quick to clean tables and seat people once they are done with their meal. Don't let a little wait discourage you from having a nice meal here.”

“Tiny establishment with big flavors. Went during lunch so there was a line. Family run with the young sisters managing the front, mom, dad n brothers manning the kitchen. Huge respect for the hard work. Kids had the cheese burgers, which were great. Added fries which were disappointing, not crispy n no salt, pass for next time. Had spam musubi, sweet n salty, perfect hand held food. Had the seafood combo. Came with fried shrimp n fish as well as teriyaki beef, onolicious. Came with rice n Mac salad, delicious n good qty. overall great food options in a sea of food trucks n other restaurants which are quite overpriced in my experience.”

“Had the pork belly with tomatoes and onions, food was amazing. Literally left Fleetwood’s because their lunch menu was boring. Jayboy’s photos alone had me sold. If you’re on the island, stop by your local food truck because that’s where the flavor is.”

“This is so good, and not over priced. Truck is ran by a small family so you have to check their ig page to make sure they’re open. Wait time is not too long, food is 20/10 highly recommend.”

“I don't usually write a Yelp review, but wow... all these bad reviews! I had a very different experience that I would like to share here. I think the managers (front/kitchen) are very nice people. The lady would recommend their best item on the menu based on what you like whether spicy or non-spicy, rice dish or noodle dish. She even get it down to the specific type of noodle if you'd like. I took her recommendation for the Bun Bo Hue (spicy beef & pork noodle soup). The food wait time was roughly 10-15 minutes for my order. That's a reasonable wait time for a noodle soup dish. I come from Los Angeles and I've tried many Vietnamese food in California. I didn't have much expectation knowingly it's food coming from a food truck on an island that doesn't have many Vietnamese restaurants, nor there are many Vietnamese living on the island. I have not tried any other item on the menu. For their Bun Bo Hue, they use a type of thinner noodle compare to what I have had before (a bit thicker noodle). Regardless of the noodle type used, I could say that was the best Bun Bo Hue I have had in the US. I'm planning to go back again and try the other items they have.”
