“Such a wonderful dining experience! Friendly and courteous service and delicious food. We had the 5 course prefix meal. Oh my!!!! From the choice of Prosecco to the perfect portion sizes to the quality of each ingredient in each course , we were impressed and dazzled! The buratta with pears was absolutely amazing as was the seafood salad, the short rib lasagna and prawns aka vodka sauce. I am Italian and know good Italian food but this was so special!! Such a find!”

“Fantastic cinnamon buns. The dough is more like a danish or croissant than bread or bun. At ~7" across, they are easy to share.In the morning they are a bakery. In the evening they are a pizza shop.They are often lined up out the door.”

“Great food and service. Eaten here twice during this trip. The shrimp in the Camarones Arepa was tender and cooked perfectly, and the tomato and bell pepper sauce was delicious. We also had the Arepitas Fritas with pork, which was also very tasty. And the yuca fries were crispy and freshly fried.The rice and black beans in the Pabellon Bowl was very flavorful, and I had the same delicious Kalua pork as was in my arepitas. Very good, highly recommend.”

“Imagine the dense flavor of Gelato with the richness of ice cream, mixed in with those island flavors, like macadamia nut, coconut, or ube, and you have an unique local classic you won't find elsewhere. They also serve classic shave ice with a self-serve syrup bar for you to concoct your own combinations. Our server was friendly and patiently allowed us to sample almost all the flavors without making the slightest fuss. It's a family business with just a few tables, but there always seems to be a small crowd hanging out here. Across from the cannery mall, it was spared the devastation of the Lahaina fires. While Ulalanis and Lappert's remain closed, this is the place to go.”

“First time dining at The Plantation house. We went there to celebrate our anniversary. We had such a beautiful experience. The staff was very attentive. “Wasn't expecting to get Mexican food in Maui and I needed up finding the Best Birria tacos I've ever had. Quesabirria tacos are great and the consome tops it off perfectly. Not a lot of places to sit, but I'd eat these off of the ground if I had to. The owners are really friendly and the food comes out quick. A great stop right when you land at the airport at the food round up by costco.”

“We were so thrilled that the Old Lahaina Luau had recently reopened since the devastating fires last year in Lahaina. What a breath of fresh air to this dear community. This Hawaiian experience is so very important to the culture when visiting Hawaii. Please visit this particular luau in Maui; a portion of their monthly sales goes to rebuilding Lahaina. ❤️”

“I was here a week before the sad Maui fires and had a fantastic bowl of acai along with a beautifully presented bowl of fruits, with the papaya acting as the bowl. It was fresh and such a great start to the morning. Also tried a nice large mug of latte which didn't disappoint. I hope they can rebound and re-open soon! Mahalo.”

“Solid place for fresh fish. Local ones are caught using their own boat. Been here a few times, every time we’re on the island and everything has always been great. Take advantage of the BYOB.On this last visit, we had the local trio sashimi and all the fish were amazingly fresh. The TNT roll and their local roll were our favorites.A little pricey but for the amount of food you get, it’s well worth it. Think it’s ideal to come with 4 so you get to try more but we typically only get to come with us me and the missus.”

“Every item here at a Merienda Maui food truck was delicious. The only mistake we made was not eating here sooner, since we would have returned to try more of the menu.We selected two types of tacos, the Shrimp and the Thai Beef Tacos. The shrimp tacos are served with a cabbage slaw, a ginger sesame dressing (not a strong flavor), gochujang aioli (dominant flavor that worked well with the shrimp), and some pickled red onions on top. Somewhat simple but all flavors combine well, the shrimp stands out with the aioli, and it has a tropical sense to it. The Thai Beef Tacos use a Thai marinade on the beef (sourced from Maui, though I couldn't tell the difference from regular beef in these chunks in a taco). Beyond that it's a common taco with a tomato salad (pico de gallo), jalapeño, cilantro, and mint (rather than a common diced onion pairing). The marinade infused into each piece of beef and truly carried the dish. I would have eaten it without the garnishes, though they do help fill out the taco. I also thought this was the most basic item we ordered, and would want to try out other items before repeating this.Lastly the Phili-bistek Sando with fries was the true star of the show. It reads as a cheesesteak with bell peppers and onions, and Mayo/chimichurri sauce on top. Yet I think this meat was also marinated, since I can't conceive how much umami was oozing from this burger. It is hands down the best cheesesteak I have every had...and I've been to Philadelphia. I found other recipes online that use a soy marinade to prepare the beef (tapa beef seems to be the Filipino name), and this sounds like it tasted. There was a lot of beef pieces, we shared the burger along 3 people, and I think that the circular shape made it seem larger than if it had been on a longer hoagie bread. Onion jam rather then regular onions would keep the tastebuds working, the Japanese Mayo would introduce both tangy and sweet flavors, and the chimichurri would add parsley, cilantro, and garlic notes. The burger was messy, but worth it. And the fries were extra crispy, similar to In-N-Out double fried fries but thicker. These work perfectly with just ketchup. We considered the Umami fries, which have gochijang and Mayo and Furikake at the same time, and I think all that sauce would reduce the crispiness of the fries. I would still try it, but the fries are top notch and a quick dip in ketchup is all that is needed. The Okonomiyaki Brussel sprouts also sound like an amazing Asian take on the vegetable and something to try next time.”

Catch of the day was great - always able to get a reservation even during Spring break - even accommodated our bigger party of 8. We went twice on our trip it was so good.Kid-friendliness: Took four young boys here - they were great and very accommodating. Big area on the grass for them to run around and play.”

“I'm a bit particular about my coffee and Kraken was one of my favorite coffee places in Kihei other than the green coffee shop which was great too!! The coffee wasn't watery (I find that to be an issue at a lot of places these days) and it was genuinely good!! Nice little spot.”

“Vegetarian options: There's plenty for every pallet at the Castaway. This is the local pub to have a bite and a catch up, with friends. The service is friendly and relaxed, the food is good and the the view is spectacular.”

“Tiny establishment with big flavors. Went during lunch so there was a line. Family run with the young sisters managing the front, mom, dad n brothers manning the kitchen. Huge respect for the hard work. Kids had the cheese burgers, which were great. Added fries which were disappointing, not crispy n no salt, pass for next time. Had spam musubi, sweet n salty, perfect hand held food. Had the seafood combo. Came with fried shrimp n fish as well as teriyaki beef, onolicious. Came with rice n Mac salad, delicious n good qty. overall great food options in a sea of food trucks n other restaurants which are quite overpriced in my experience.”

“Aloha Braised is always one of my first stops. Due to the August 2023 Lahaina wildfire, the food truck has found a temporary spot in Kahului on Alamaha, on the Dairy Road side. Enjoyed the Teppanyaki Thursday special with steak, shrimp, fried rice, veggies and ginger sauce. Aloha Braised also caters. Ordered pans of Furikake Mahi Mahi, Mochiko chicken with volcano sauce and hurricane sauce on the side, New York Steak, Pork Belly and Macaroni salad. We loved everything! Aloha Braised is hoping to be back in Lahaina at their Island Grocery location at the end of November. Check IG and Facebook for updates.”

“I had a really good experience here. I've tried kava once before in Sacramento, CA and it made me nauseous so I was hesitant to try it. I gave it a try anyway and it was really smooth, relaxing, and I learned all about kava and how it's made from the staff. They were very friendly and informative! I didn't feel any negative effects and I even had another full coconut shell! Definitely give it a try!”

“My favorite chicken katsu on the island. Such a fat order they still give. Best katsu sauce too, always ask for an extra tho cause there is so much chicken you need it. Egg roll was alright. The egg fu young is supposed to be really good too if you like that, but haven't had it.”
